I just thoughy about it, Bojack came out 1993, this movie 1994. Toriyama planned to make Gohan the main character in the Buu arc, I think these movies coming out before the Buu arc ruined that, in both movies Goku shows up, I think if Goku doesn't show up Japanese audiences wouldn't have minded Gohan becoming the main character
