I gotta say “Mediocre Filler Arc Writing Vibes” you know? There’s some great fun stuff that should’ve been in the manga or anime But instead it’s just in this filler arc turned into a movie… that’s even my speculation of how it becomes a movie… Got wonderful stuff to elaborate on some characters but then more stuff happening is never explained… How would they know Kakarot cheated when lethal force was being exercised within the tournament against the rules…? If he doesn’t save Gohan then the earths probably screwed unless Vegeta and trunks somehow work stuff out & get SSJ2 figured out properly… even if Vegeta is bummed out I don’t think he’d ever give up on training… Bulma would probably get concerned or angry… but I guess maybe part of the development here is “Vegeta is laughing at his kid needing to transform against people who can’t transform” but Trunks is Transforming when he needs it to be at a comparable level that seems Mysteriously Above Regular SuperSaiyan but doubling your spikier more electrically generative super saiyan form will AutoDestroy All Villains functionally… which kinda makes them feel less relevant if treated like Cell Juniors… Wait is Gohan able to make the Kí inside someone else simply Explode or something through a punch or slash like handchop with the electrical energy? I’m thinking like a Filler Writer that knows cool visuals and whatnot will sell stuff and this is how we’d write these characters cause toriyama says they’re probably blah blah something they turn to something totally different or think they already did… cause they have a new gag bit and so on… I wonder what he thought at the time and which criticisms of the film or choices by the film made him choose different ways of showing some characterisation and also later filler writing teams etc. and some are enjoyable as their own art form having to write around a story without any of it explained as much as you like… though sometimes it feels like they have only one person that even knows the story’s lore in the writing room… but that’s only a proper issue in western film these days hehehe… But I love defendable filler arcs with that vibe of “don’t skip this filler here… it Should be canon and supposedly is Partially Canon…” like in One Piece… some Bleach Stuff is Just Interesting! I wonder how that forced certain expectations from the fanbase & how it impacted certain choices relative to original intent cause of the zánpákūtō rebellion arc & so on… Now with Ôètsū Nìmàïyà’s and all that complicated female sword people stuff that are fully manifest like the way Kenny may have now lost the Physical Body of his Bánkaî which was probably meant to handle defence and assists but that’s not Kenny’s style… how’d I get to late bleach stuff? Do excuse the rambles… some meds got me hurling subconscious all over the place… occasional occurrences of Lulz can sometimes occur in some readers… sometimes people using speak function… which is why I write Sásūké so things don’t Sasuke… or even straight up “SæhSúck-E!” & that’s just inexcusable as someone that listens to my words as written by whichever regional English lady I can get outta SpeakFunction… Ah, & Bojack COULD HAVE been made interesting if they expanded on any lore about him that made them feel cool or threatening in compelling ways… but then people would complain about canon villains potentially so they remove some ideas & exposition before it can be written into a scene in drafts… who knows? Film Length Mediocre Filler Arc Writing functional Short Filler Arc… Never found Bojack Interesting but Could Have if he had interesting cool lore… It’s like an arc that only Toyotaro would be allowed to make because of understanding different aspects of the DragonBall Fanbase etc and knowing how to write good fanfictions that feel real relative to some bad filler arc writing some shows get… There’s Wasted Potential you know? Like bounts in bleach which isn’t as bad as some claim unless you’re waiting through filler arcs you can’t stand… Sometimes I feel there should be an official designation for when something is non canonical in fictional media or that it doesn’t belong to the writer’s intentions for their story but TV Writers that only sometimes know what they’re doing or whatever… but now I’m talking more than DragonBall movie writing issues aren’t I? Never mind it, yeah?… : D

It’s fair to love it but I don’t even know if I stand by whatever I said about a mediocre smaller budget anime movie that I’m sure I thought was awesome the first few times I saw it 15 years ago… But no offence intended by anything I said… unless you’re Bojack or something… in which case I’d sympathise, I guess?

@@egoistagatto7942 There was nothing fire about second coming bruh, and the only thing funny was how stupid Gohan looked taking a nap after thinking BROLY would die in some regular ass lava, then the Piccolo-save fake out, and seeing Krillin in Unc's fit. Everything else in Second Coming was boring, the art and colors were washed out, the "fights" (Goten and Trunks goofing off and a piss joke) were frustrating and unappealing and didn't even get better when Gohan decided randomly to show up from whatever the hell he was doing flying over the ocean in the other direction, the music style was overplayed by this movie, and the family kamehameha's fr not even good. Goku shows up, with a purposely vague explanation, just for some bs finisher where they didn't even have the decency to let Trunks contribute in the same way his father did against Cell, as his attack did nothing. It was an unearned finale. They didn't even beat Broly in a smart way, like in the first one at least you can say his power was becoming too much for his body, and in Bio Broly there's a really great strategy too, but in this movie Goku just bails them out when Gohan is WEAKER than he was against Cell, Goten isn't much better, and Broly should realistically only be THAT much stronger since their last fight. They never stood a chance and the movie is the worst of the original 13. I'll die on that hill. Broly wasn't good enough for me to care about his sludge form in 3, I thought the film was only better for trashing the already trash movie character. Super Broly clears all 3 and especially clears og Broly in terms of everything but his edginess.

I feel like you missed the point of this movie heavily. The whole point of the Bojack movie is a little epilogue of the Cell Saga. It shows the new norm for everyone involved. Bojack is the least important part of the story as hes just the antagonist, a villian of the week to show who Gohan will have to now protect the world from. Which he does well enough. Its a movie about Gohan and the Z fighters new life even though Bojack gets the name. Its really good plus its short and to the point.

Why would they have Goku fight? The whole point of Goku coming back to punch Bojack was to save Gohan, and to remind him that he believes in him. Gohan is trying to be like Goku the entire movie, Gohan remembers the way he died. Also you completely forget Goku’s character. Goku is trying to pass the torch to Gohan so why the hell would he stop to fight. H understands it’s Gohan’s fight and he wants to encourage his son.

This is a much better movie imo than the Garlick Jr. one. Or do we count that as Dragonball still? All the movies have a ton of inconsistencies and problems though. Their biggest problem here was not showcasing their villain well. Like the others are all about the buildup to the final boss. It's kind of like Slug, except Slug was like a looming threat for a big part of the movie and fought for the other half. Bojack was kind of "dis pirate guy pretty strong, no One Piece." Except he gets destroyed the second he's in a real fight. They also redid the Gohan vs Cell fight for no good reason.

This movie proved why Gohan couldn't be the main protagonist. He is a sleeping bear that needs to be poked. He needs his villains to actively push his buttons or else they just win. Or Goku has to be in his ear 24/7. That gets pretty boring after a while as opposed to Goku learning to fly with all of his limbs crushed or overloading cooler's core with power, or using the tree of might to power the spirit bomb, or asking shenron about super Saiyan god.

@@nycto4512 I’m glad the tournament of power gave Krillin(should’ve have lasted longer and letting his guard was never one of his weaknesses) and Tien wins even if they both only eliminated one person and Roshi(who hasn’t been relevant since og dragon ball) taking up their screen time and lasting longer than both of them. Tien givibg Base Trunks during their fight was cool, deflected Buutenks attack with a Tri beam and krillin took down one of Moro’s henchmen in the manga which was cool but I feel like they could be better post Buu Arc. Dbs Tien got bodied by Gohan in the 2v2 with Goku and piccolo for no reason and he could never charge up an attack to defend himself either because Gohan would blindsided every time. His only W’s were against fodder Frieza soilders in Ressurection f(his fighting style is so clean) and against hermila.

So, one thing to note: it's likely that in the movie timeline, Gohan never had SSJ2 until now. The implication with Cooler's Revenge is supposed to be that Goku pulling out SSJ at the very end _is_ Goku's first time ascending to a true Super Saiyan. I would assume the point is the same here, with Gohan. They don't do it with SSJ3 in the movies because SSJ3 wasn't a spontaneous transformation, so the movie timeline didn't replicate it as one.

My reasoning for Goku being able to help Gohan was that’s just what happens when a dead person tries to teleport out of the afterlife. Goku was probably only able to stay in the living world for a few seconds, with him being dead and all, so that’s why he couldn’t stay any longer.

I don’t think it’s bad, but I think it’s INCREDIBLY overrated. I actually like the opening with the tournament shenanigans, some of the action scenes, and the whole idea of this being a sort of epilogue/story definitively set after the events of the cell games. But it also wastes its premise, a Gohan lead story living up to Goku, on a villain that has little to even do with him, Gohan not even feeling like the main character of his own movie, and rehashing the Super Saiyan 2 transformation in a less poignant way. I disagree on calling it the worst DBZ movie, but I’d call it the most Overrated.

Every movie doesn't have to be a masterpiece in terms of writing and plot direction to be a "good" movie. If the action, the moments, and the hype in and of itself is great - the plot and writing doesn't really matter. If the movie is fun but isn't the greatest writing-wise, it doesn't mean it's a "bad" movie. Bojack Unbound is the perfect example of this. It's a _really_ fun movie start-to-finish, and personally that's all that a movie needs to have to be good.

My understanding as to why Gohan didn't just transform off rip is because he forgot the feeling of how to transform to SSJ2. That's my reasoning for Goku not going SSJ sooner in the Cooler Revenge movie and Goku not being able to use SSJ3 properly against Kid Buu, when he was alive. Same for UI after the TOP. It's a sensation they lost and need to learn how to master that feeling

Ssj3 always had a weird timelimit thing so it makes sense in the buu fight but in cooler movie it makes 0 sense that goku didn't transform (idk where in the timeline the movie is but it has to be before yardrat for goku not transforming to make sense but then he shouldn't be on earth bla bla movies are silly sometimes you just have to ignore it😭)

The Real Problem of this Movie is its Questionable Placement in the Timeline, I know it's not Canon but there are a lot of Inconsistencies, like does this take place Months after the Cell Games but if so why is Future Trunks still staying in the Past if he is supposed to go back Home to his own Timeline which was Weeks later after the Cell Games, Not to mention where the Hell is Goten if he is supposed to be Born months later after the End of the Cell Games from the Time of this Movie takes place, now before you say, "He is still inside Chi Chi's Womb," she doesn't even look Pregnant in this Movie, I guarantee the Animators that made it are possibly not Aware the Existence of Goten that was already been Created in the Manga before the Majin Buu Saga was the next Story Arc in DBZ, This is why the Bojack Movie will never happen.
