With the little experience I've had as a doctor, it's obvious that the only reason some people with major depression are still hanging in there despite lack of support in real life (specially the ones who never got treated) are little things like silly hobbies they still enjoy, and that includes watching youtubers. It's not a reach to say that popular content makers often unknowingly save lives, despite the mainstream view of youtubers/artists/streamers being "useless jobs".

I prob have mild depression since I was a midget but I honestly don't give a damn. When I see how hard my parents work I don't need a reason to keep going or a push. Having one helps but that's just like eating food or sweets. You can still live and work just fine without them if you push yourself to. The things my family been through in China with the aftermath of cultural revolution and japanese invasion and fascist communist regime and they work even if there isn't any work to do, as well as proving liberals wrong that you can make it if you work hard enough considering they had little to no english or money and got up to more or less upper middle class lifestyle but with middle class income. That's why I will never understand, or my family for that matter, people who can't hold it together. Because time won't wait for you to stand up while rolling around in the mud drowning yourself. But I shouldn't say that because I had good support and many people didn't. So that proves how important having support and having a ray of sunshine in one's life is when you don't have solid relationships like with family members. It gives you a sense of security and identity, it gives you the roots you need to know that you're not some drifting balloon filled up with nothing but sad or depressed or angry gas, you're instead tied to a family or loving tree and are filled with happy and loving gas. I know my wording sounds weird given my weirdness, but I hope my intended meaning comes across. This is just me typing out my thoughts mindlessly without editing my words.

People sure love to underestimate the evil nature of human beings....I'm judgemental but only because people overlook and hate recognizing the harsh truth and nature of the world they live in that they want to desperately pretend the things that can hurt them doesn't exist. There's a difference between tolerating and coping, I think? In the sense that people using coping skills to overcome something. I have mixed feelings about this. On one hand, this is a very heartwarming moment and I’m glad that Watame helped the superchatter through hard times. On the other hand, I hope more people don’t superchat Vtubers with this type of message because: 1) it is kind of inconsiderate to hoist your personal issues onto a streamer who is, in reality, a complete stranger, unless they are asking you to. And 2) this could lead to immature people superchatting this sort of message just to get a reaction out of a Vtuber, and I don’t think I really need to explain why that is bad. Anyways, I’m just glad Watame could help out a fellow listener during a dark time. And that Listener-kun decided to seek help instead of ending his/her life.

Man, I've had a lot of experience with depression throughout my life, several people I know have struggled with it. My ex was resorting to self harm, that was before we met and throughout our relationship she became happier and more confident, she also stopped the self harm, I am really happy for her and hope she still is fine. In fact from September last year til about May this year I really struggled with depression too. During that time I also had several panic attacks and it felt like I was about to seriously die from stress. Luckily I got help and it never became too severe, never had suicidal thoughts, but man was it absolutely horrible. I'm fine now, and I'm actually glad for the experience, because I have definitely matured, I'm happier, and can live better than before. So, for anyone reading this, you may be struggling now and I will not say that things will become easier anytime soon. I took immediate action once it became serious and I had my first panic attack in September last year, and it took immense effort and a long time. However, it can and will become better eventually. It will be hard, but honestly, just keep pushing forward. Find someone to talk too. If you have someone in your life, open up, say what's on your mind, say what you truly mean. If you don't have anyone, hire a psychiatrist. It may feel useless, I for sure felt like it was useless talking to a psychiatrist, but in hindsight it really helped me. Don't underestimate the power of words, as long as you're honest, it will help. Start doing more things you want to try. And for gods sake, try excercising and going outside, it does wonders for your mental state, it feels incredibly good once you're done. The most important things are to relax a little if you're pushing yourself too hard at school or work, find someone to talk too and hopefully hang out with occasionally, and use your body. Give yourself some free time, and try too establish a routine of regularely excercising. For the people who are not struggling personally, talk with people, be nice, and try to help people if there's something you can do. If there's someone who seemingly is alone or doesn't seem happy, casually strike up a conversation with them someday. It can be as simple as giving them a genuine smile and saying "Hello". A single action and a single word can save a life. So do your best to not take choices you will regret later. As a great man once said, and a perfect description of my life, "I've failed over and over and over again in my life and that is why I succeed.", all the bad experiences shapes you and makes you a better person if you let them, so live a life you won't regret and try to see the positives wherever you go. "You can't discover light, by analyzing the dark." - Wayne Dyer

I can relate about the depression It's really a difficult thing to fight against and sometimes you really have no choice but to keep fighting I'm glad that guy in the superchat is good now and I hope he will continue living his best life. This truly shows how VTubers can really help you when you're sad and this is why I'm a fan of them. Whoever reads this, hope you have a good day 💚

One of the reasons i really love hololive Vtubers.. they understand the feeling of viewers, they're not fake persons (like major part of KZbinrs 🙄), inside they got a big beautiful red heart 🥰 Watame is adorable 🤗🤗🤗

I can't thank you enough for translating this. This is my favorite clip ever. Everything Watame said means so much to me... Her words speak directly to me and my tears flow like crazy. These past years have been hard for me mentally and even though it's been better lately, I still often feel empty and like what I do is not enough. Watching this clip just... fills my heart. So really, thank you, thank you, thank you so much for the translation. I'm so happy I got to see this

This is the side of Hololive that draws humanity together. Wholesome amidst the character they play beyond the facade lies a heart connecting the host to their audience.

This made me feel emotional and beautiful words from Watame. I just hope people don't start sending a lot of these kind of messages. Once is fine but many could be draining for the streamers.

Watame is the type of person that doesn't hesitate to break on stream whenever her emotions hit her. She has been through a lot in her childhood too. Watame might be one of the underrated vtubers but she's also one of the sincere and real ones i will continue to support her forever

She could have just said thanks for the superchat and moved on. She could have just said she's glad they are able to seek help now. But she didn't. She took that moment to talk about it. To share. The moment she was saying she wishes for them to continue living, and her voice cracked, brought the tears to my eyes. She truly cares. Her fans aren't just subscribers. She may not know everyone's names, but she cares about all of them. And then she said she won't say to try their best because she knows they already are. She understands too. All the girls should be allowed to be this human. For me, Ayame and Pekora helped me just get through a tough time. I feel so thankful, that I just want to tell them directly how thankful I am. It's hard to find the right time to pop in a superchat to where they can stop and read it. I hope they find out about this message so that I can express my own gratitude.

Then when I learned about vtubers,I watched their videos and it makes me feel warm.even though it nothing compared to a mother's love, it's the one thing that keeps me living on.I'm glad i met them. Sorry for bad english

Pretty much hanging on as well with the temporary bliss I get from small silly things like vtubers. The world can be a very dark place and it's nice to peak through a window into something pure and kind at times like these. I don't know for how much longer I can hang on but I'm glad these past weeks have been a bit more bearable thanks to them and their wonderful energy.

This hit close to home. I really relate to this SC and Watame's words are something that have touched my heart. When she said "i won't say [Do your best]" I knew what she was going for and I fully cried for the first time in a few years, not because I hadn't experienced anything sad but on some level I didn't allow myself to cry. I don't speak about my feelings often so i never got the chance to hear these kinds of words, so thank you translator-san for giving me the opportunity.

I'm just passing by while watching some hololive clips but I had to stay for this. I'm glad I did. This was heartwarming to say the least. I had these thoughts before and alwys forgot about it soon after thinking how it'll affect the people around me. What watame says in this about being glad to be alive becasue she can be a light in someone's darkness, is partly the reason why I'm still here. I wish to leave my influenece on people before I go.

I remember watching this a while back. Wasn't live though, but a clip, I think I even commented about liking to see these moments of sincerity. I think at that time I was still in college dealing with all my mental issues and worrying about the future. Since then I've dropped out, gotten a job that I'll have for a good half a year longer, and possibly found what I want to do in my life, rather than continue meandering around like I was back then. The future is very unpredictable, and the me one year ago wouldn't believe the me from today if I went back and told him all this. For a long time I'd wondered if it really does get better. If you don't do anything and stagnate it won't get better at all - you have to try and reach out, make hard decisions first before your life begins to unfold. And once you start looking up, when you start trying to change, your life changes with you. To whoever needs this: I'm currently 20 years old, planning to study mechanical engineering in 2021. If you think you know what you want to do for the rest of your life in high school - I thought so too, but I dropped computer science after one year. Don't pidgeonhole yourself into a career, don't meander through your classes - think about what you want your future to be, and grab it with your own two hands. I have my whole fair share of problems right now, but I'm working to at least put one foot forward - and that's better than nothing. Believe in yourself, and seize the future you want to have.
