Sucks to see this. I went thru the same thing last year and hit the wall 3 times at almost 180mph. Car was destroyed and I'm in the process of still building another. Keep your head up. New build will always come out better and faster! The safety did its job which is all that matters.

At the same time you have physically AND verbally given your expertise and knowledge to all who wants or needs it. Much respect for say what happened all you young racers should learn from John example very few racers will admit to overdriving their cars but John's no ordinary racer he's as good as they is in drag racing and does it for the love of the sport the way we all should.

Man that’s the worst impact of any accident. I hope you’re going to be okay. I’d definitely be going to the hospital and getting a thorough evaluation. You know how to build a safe and super fast race car. Hope to see you back behind the wheel soon.

Not sure when wreck happened but as a trauma nurse if you are having sternal pain and you think that u may have broke ur sternum I would definitely advise you to go and get checked out. Sometimes car wreck patients don't realize that it could be a delayed response if ur sternum impacted the steering wheel. A piece of the fracture could puncture the lining around ur heart and lungs and not even know. Alwo, with blunt force trauma u can have delayed bruising of the lungs think of lungs as a wet sponge you take a direct shot & initially there might be no symptoms but later on once lungs start to swell, u can have problems from minor to severe. Glad you're OK, I'm a Mustang fan and I know you'll come back stronger than ever!👍🏻

So sorry to see this but the most important thing is that you survived. A few bumps and bruises is a good thing. The safety gear did its job for sure! Glad you're alright...those side hits where the car slaps into the wall seem worse than they appear, remember how Matt from John Doc channel ended up in the hospital from a similar crash. Too bad if that is the end of this car, but sure you learned a lot building it, and next one will only be an upgrade!

John I’ve only been following you for the last year or two and I have watched you take many laps. You have always been a very cautious driver. Knowing when to lift or knowing that you’re out of shape. Something that sticks with me is before every race you always tell your competitors to have fun and be careful. Your crew is the best around. They love you and they went to work to make sure that your car wasn’t going to be damaged even more loading it up on the rollback. Courtney told Randy that there’s stuff that can be used on the car to make sure they didn’t destroy it more. Love ya brother!

what a bummer and a hard hit. when you got back into it, it lost traction again and turned back left. your tube frame held up well and cage held the car together. it sucks because its gana be a long overhaul but to see ya walking away is a blessing. rest up, lots of work to be done, yall will be out again soon.
