Tip for car photos...squat down so you are not at head height. Makes it look more like it does in traffic. I would also recommend using the lowest possible F stop setting on your lenses, makes the car pop from the background.

Look into getting some after market seat covers they cost around $200-300 and fit like a glove so you dont have to worry about customers messing up your sests , you can also get a center console abs cover for around $20-40 to protect the center console from getting scratched by customers .

That's really interesting, would think you'd pull more money in doing this but I guess when you think about it $125 for two car washes really isn't bad. I'm curious to see how often you get rentals. I could never rent my car out on turo, even if I bought one specifically to rent out. I could never beat on a rental, but for some reason, people will destroy others vehicles because "its not mine" and yea im sure theres insurance/stuff turo can do, but it just doesn't seem worth it.
@420Cris2 ай бұрын
Once you start getting more rentals you should look into upgrading your personal insurance into commercial insurance, 25% is a lot once you start getting rentals more often. When I checked for my car it was only like $100 more per month (though obviously I don't have a Tesla). When checking quotes, use a throwaway email and not exactly real info, the quotes won't be 100% accurate but they'll be close enough and you won't have to deal with your insurance contacting you trying to sell you on a new plan, which is what they did to me when I was just checking what it'd cost with no intention of actually buying it.
@GoHerping2 ай бұрын
that would be interesting. though turo requires me to give up at least 10% for the lowest coverage. i'm currently on the second most expensive plan at 25%, so maybe it'll be worth adjusting in the future? on the bright side, it hardly added anything to my personal insurance
@JamarD4212 ай бұрын
Thanks for the Turo tour, Alex. I kinda want to try this but it probably isn't worth it in my area. Miami on the other hand might be profitable.

Good luck with renting out your car, but I wonder just how many times you'll want to wash and detail the car for each renter and get a parent to provide you taxi service after dropping off your Tesla to a renter. The thing about auto insurance, if they declare a car totaled, they only give you the blue book value of the car, and I've heard there is a high percentage of accidents in electric cars in the first year of someone who switches to one. Having people using your car that are totally new to driving a Tesla is a big risk. I do hope all goes well for you. Fortunately, it is just a spare car and you can always chalk it all up to a learning experience anyway which way it all goes.

Can you make a video about how you set up the Tesla to do rentals? Did you have to create a new profile, lock certain settings? put the car in rental mode?? lol I had my BMW on turbo but now I want to put my Tesla on there. But don’t want them changing anything and buying stuff
@GoHerping2 ай бұрын
i give them a quick rundown on how the screen works, but ultimately i just sync the car to my own profile since i (unsurprisingly) think the settings i use are the best lol. heavy steering, hold mode, lane departure warning, lanekeep, and i put my preferred audio EQ settings. and then i tell them to play around with the settings however they like and then i sent them an invite link via the app, which i then remove when the trip ends but - i did disable in-car upgrades so people don't go tapping around and purchasing full self driving on my credit card lol.

As someone who might want to rent a car on occasion, I'd be less interested in sales-y acceleration descriptions and more concerned with the reliability and range of the car. Also a less fluffy description on how to use superchargers would be more helpful. I don't have a car, so I just rent out one of my parking spaces to someone who does lol.

One thing to keep in mind when renting out an EV is that tires wear much, much quicker on EVs then they do on ICE vehicles. Depending on how often your vehicle is used you'll need to get new tires much more often due to increased mileage on it. There's honestly a lot of issues renting out EVs specifically but Teslas are particularly bad due to their closed architecture. also I'd argue that a Tesla is kind of a poor choice for a car that's gonna be kinda beat on by people who don't own it. Maintenance for these things is hard to do and you cannot service Teslas yourself (usually). That's not to even mention the poor build quality of these cars when they are used extensively! I wish you luck doing this but I honestly think this may end up being much more trouble then its worth considering the payout and potential maintenance bills. Let alone the horror scenario of getting a bad guest who ruins your vehicle. I think you'd prooobably be better off doing this if you hadn't taken a loan out for this thing and actually could maintain it should stuff go wrong. I wouldn't be as concerned if it was literally anything else then a basically brand new Tesla.
