Perfect. Pulled the wiper assembly, cleaned it up, motor tested good, good continuity checks, reassembled and presto! Worked just fine. Appears it was a bad ground or connections due to being dirty.

I had this issue and grease and conductor cleaner on the plug for the motor cleaned it good stopped pooping fuses and works like a charm

The wipers will have to be pulled backwards (away from the windshield at around a 30 degree angle) to release tension BEFORE you start pulling on the small metal tab and lift off the wiper.

related video shows him wiggling the wiring harness near firewall etc and they started working, possible short issue on the gromet, but yeah easy fix per say but may return...

I HAVE a 2006 dodge ram.wiper working on passenger side but not on driver side so obviously motor is good ,i assume it has to be mechanical not electical?

My windshield washer blades stopped in the up position. They would not come back on. Then several days later they were working again. The mechanic told me I need to replace the windshield wiper motor. Could there possibly be another problem with the windshield wipers. They have been working perfectly fine ever since it that three days when they wouldn't work. Thank you for taking the time to comment my challenge.

could be corrosion in the mechanism that froze it up in the stiffest spot and blew the fuse as the motor was trying to pull too much power to get past the problem spot, disassembling the front clip and cleaning up all those pivot points then greasing them would fix this.. could be a bad motor aswell though

I changed my ignition and coincidentally (?) My wipers stopped. Fuse looks good, relay making noise when switch is operated. So.... sounds like pulling/testing motor is next for me!

So my motor recently went out on my wipers and I replaced it, I have a manual for my year of truck. Went by every instruction. Now my wiper motor it starts with motion of going down, instead of up and back down like it me supposed to to do. Idk what do. It’s a brand new wiper motor. Any suggestions ?

DC motors can usually run with either polarity but direction of rotation will be reversed. Try reversing your positive and negatives

I am surprised you did not put a seat cover or something to protect the seat from getting dirty. If my customer sees me laying stuff on the seat like you, guarantee they will make an issue. probably won't see them again. Other than that, you've done a good job.

what if it blow fuses with the motor plugged in and not when the motor is unplugged?

Motor could be shorted. Run a hot wire to it and see if the motor runs. Try to shake some wires and see if it helps. I found my short that way.

TVWXMAN32 if I jump it straight to the battery it works. It started blowing fuses when I removed the bolt that the ground is attached to the bracket.

Sounds like a hot wire is shorting out. Check near the fuse box and going into the fire wall around the fuse box. That's where my short was.

Nathan Rohrbough, thanks for the response, I have the same truck & all the same symptoms, I moved the wire harness going through the firewall now my blinkers don't work, so I'll check that ground wire, Thank you very much. I'll let you know what I find.

@@krustysurfer this was 11 months ago but for people reading in the future, on these old trucks sometimes its easier to snip the wire thats giving issues at the connector in the cab and just run a fresh wire right to the wiper motors or other problem area, 1/2" wire guard will make it last if its going through tight areas or rubbing

1- NO LINK pop-up buddy. 2- Get someone to hold the camera for you. I've got a 98 Dodge Ram 2500 V-10 Magnum. Wipers stopped working thee other day. Checked the fuse located at drivers side of dash assembly hidden by door when closed. Fuse was good. Checked Engine compartment 'Wiper Relay Fuse"... good. Took to mechanic, he said, "The fuses are good so it's the Wiper Switch on the column. (That's an expensive one, and so it the relay switch actually... 100$+ for column switch assembly & 20$+ for the relay fuse UGH!) Bought the column assembly, went to replace it, and ran right into the wall. First issue, "Specialty Screw Driver and Bit to take off outer plastic shroud to get to it. Second issue= Could not get the steering height adjuster lever to unscrew. Had to use a pair of channel-lock-pliers to get it off, which destroyed the vinyl handle. (It was slightly oxidized-- ooops darn it!), 3rd issue--- the two screws that hold the shifting assembly to the steering column were a specialty item... SECURITY SCREWS which I had to purchase from an Auto Parts Store or the dealer. It is sold only in a KIT with ASSORTED SIZES for (yet another) 20$+. NOTE: Be sure to have the column lowered before you attempt to remove the plug from it's holder. Not much room to maneuver your took to take remove the screw that is in the back of the plug used to hold it in. It's also a bit of a trick getting the protective cover off of the plug. BE PATIENT! And takes LOTS of deep breaths! Finally, after wiggling the heck out of the plug it released and I had the assembly in my hands. Put the new one in, and replaced all of the parts and pieces etc... Excited to have my wipers working again, I put in the key... started the motor... turned the wiper switch to ON... NOTHING!!! First thought... a reaction of instant depression, next thought was (slightly LOL) more graphic... S O B!!! And some more choice words followed... which I won't repeat for now. (Ahem!) Never tested the motor. At this very moment, I'm out 200$ and no fix. Thanks to your video, I will go in and remove the motor and TEST IT. Most likely, that would be it, but nothing is a sure thing (obviously) thus far. Frustrating is a great word of choice right now! But no worries... I'm as persistent as they come. I WILL get it done. MY POINT in writing/commenting was so elaborated on the walls I ran into trying to get this done, and to say thanks for the Bench Test Sequencing and how to.you shared. Sure wish I'd done the testing first. The process of elimination can be BRUTAL if one doesn't do it FIRST. Off I go, but it's raining so I won't be doing the motor testing today. Darn it anyhow! phoohey!!! :--)) Ciao!!!

You didn't have to use the channel locks on the knob....you should have used it on the shaft.
