TW200 Lithium Battery! Upgrade your Power!

Have you ever wondered what a Lithium Battery will do in your Yamaha TW200? I have. In my Yamaha TW200's I have ran lead acid batteries and AGM style batteries and now, I am installing the Tusk Lithium Battery in my 2021 TW200 to test it out. In 2009 I bought a new Polaris quad. It had an AGM installed from the factory. I have ridden quads and dirt bikes since 1966, and a lead acid battery would be good if it lasted for 3 years. The rough roads surely had a lot to do with the short life. I tried expensive lead acid batteries, and batteries that I bought from Wally World. None of them lasted much longer than 3 years, many only 2 years. This 2009 AGM quad battery is still in the quad. It holds its charge MUCH longer than flooded cell lead acid batteries. Something that came installed on my 2022 TW200 that I bought in Denver is a charge indicator called an "Optimate." The dealership installed it, and I love it. It lets you know at a glance the condition of your battery's charge. I has flashing LED lights that flash every few seconds. Green = ok Yellow = charge soon. It also has a red, I have never let one of my batteries go to red, so I do not know how low the voltage needs too be to turn it on. I am so impressed with these battery charge indicators that I have them on every battery started toy that I have. I also will install an AGM in my 2022 Polaris quad, because those silly Polaris people went the cheaper route with a flooded cell lead acid battery. (idiots) I will be installing an AGM in my TW next month. As an extra plus, the Optimate comes with a polarized, fused connection that can be used for hooking up a charger or external 12 volt equipment. I will let you try out the Lithium battery, and get back with us with the results. I will be truthful, I have my reservations. A bike/quad battery has a hard life. I do have a whole bunch of Royobi tools, and they all have lithium batteries, but they are not subjected to the harshness of the the trails and off the paved roads. Going to have to add another part to the wishlist...Thank you. Matt, try to upgrade the springs. The stock tire feels so much better now that the front springs rebound so much quicker! I don't ride on the road, but it has to help the handling there as well.

Bradley Performance didn't have the HD shock in stock, so I just swapped to HD springs from procycle. Soon as I bought the spring the HD shock was back in stock. It would have been easier just to swap shocks. The big spring was a bear to mount.@@MOBStreet83

Good morning, Matt. Could you tell me what model Interstate Battery you purchased for your Tw200? I am looking at model YTX5L-BS. It’s a little smaller but I can make it work. I like the idea of small and light but if the space is there why not run a bigger spec battery? May be less stressful on the little tdub rectifier that wasn’t meant to charge a cell phone and gps and truck lights

@@MOBStreet83 Well, it is a different type of battery technology. It requires a different style of 110 volt charger. So??????? I don't know. I realize that they have Lithium batteries for campers that charge from the truck while being towed, it is just that I have reservations. I am sure that you will clue us in if it works or does not work. I have 2 E Bikes, and after reading about all of the issues with fires in China caused by charging E Bikes inside apartments, I charge mine outside away from everything. So, I am just cautious.

TO EVERYONE IN KZbin LAND If I need a special lithium battery charger to charge a lithium motorcycle battery THEN WHY AM I NOT CHANGING THE ALTERNATOR AND VOLTAGE REGULATOR ON MY BIKE (THAY ARE FOR LED ACID ) the BMS ( Battery Management System ) in the lithium battery dose this for us !!! please do not give out False info . the battery is made at the factory as a direct replacement (hens the name "motorcycle" battery) for a led acid battery AND "DOSE NOT REQURE A special CHARGER" !!
