Claude Akins also appeared in another twilight zone episode, called. “The Little People.” He played a rocket ship commander, repairing his ship on an asteroid, when his copilot counterpart encounters beings that is big as ants. He is not interested in what his copilot is doing. He just wants to repair the ship. When it comes time to leave, his copilot is able to stay behind. That was a very interesting episode as well.

Claude Akins and Simon Oakland were very popular character actors who had a similar build and gruff alpha-male presence. Two of my favorites. And both were great in their respective Twilight Zone episodes. Simon Oakland was terrific in the Rip Van Winkle Caper, one of my all time favorites. The ending of this Claude Akins episode, where it is explained that the aliens are pitting humans against each other to more easily take over earth, reminds me of the Star Trek episode Day of the Dove (TOS) where the alien stirs up natural hatreds between the Enterprise crew and Klingons to feed on the emotions of hate and eternal conflict. This theme has been reworked and used in many stories. Good stuff.

Monsters are Due..., and Will the Real Martian Please, Stand Up are some of my favourites, along with Little Girl Lost, and the one where the guy on a prison planet gets a robot. This series was absolutely fantastic. I really love The Outer Limits, too. About those studio backlots, I've been noticing them since I was about 6 years old, in the 1960's. Samantha lived next to Jeannie and Hazel, and the Andersons sold their house to CPT Nelson. Mr. Wilaon fell into the fountain at the park where Hazel played baseball and Samantha tried to save it. Too bad all those lots were demolished. I was at Universal in the 1990's and saw some of the "houses."

Another familiar face in this episode is Jan Handzlik as Tommy! He played the young version of Patrick Dennis in the 1958 movie "Auntie Mame" with Rosalind Russell! Another alumni from the movie was Fred Clark who starred in "A Most Unusual Camera"!

I never actually saw a Twilight Zone until not this past Saturday the one before. It was about these 2 Astronauts that there ship broke down and they had to fix it. And in some water one of them found a whole World of little amoeba sized people that he could get to do things for him. He went crazy and decided he was their king. The other one who coincidentally was Claude Aikins, was tired of him trippin so he left him and went back to Earth. At the very end these 2 giant astronauts oblivious to him step on him and squash him. At the end the little people could have saved him but they were sick of him too so they were like "Nah We're Good"

I know this is a Twilight Zone fantasy but one of the strangest thing about this Maple street scenario is how isolated that street residents really are with the rest of the town. No beaurals or other people coming in but all power and communication is disabled.

Thanks, Rick - cool video, as always! Btw, years after the Maple Street episode, two of the actors in it coincidentally had a significant connection with Alan Alda: Jack Weston (the neighbor named Charlie) was in Alda's 1981 hit movie, The Four Seasons, and a 25-year-old Burt Metcalfe (the neighbor, Don) later became a writer for M*A*S*H! I love those coincidences. :-)

My favorite episode of the Twilight Zone (1959-1964) was "The Hunt" (S3E19, 01/26/1962). My favorite episode of the Twilight Zone (1985-1989) was "Paladin of the Lost Hour" (S1E7, 11/08/1985).

First season in 'My Fair Munster', at 22:42 Herman hits the living room floor and the top of his head flaps open. I'm sure this has been seen by MANY people. If you have not you could do a little video. thanx for all your great videos.

It's fun to see all the folks and things in episodes of so many shows back in the 60's to early 80's. They are easy to spot now because we can watch them whenever we want, back-to-back and even side to side if we like and then compare, etc. Back then an episode aired, and you wouldn't see it again until reruns- so hard to notice those things.

Hey Rick, I would like you to do a video on the twilight zone episodes that all relate to time travel. My favorite ones are back there, walking distance, and of late I think of Cliffordville, oh and of course 100 yards over the rim.

Claude Akins was a great character actor and vastly underappreciated in my opinion. However, he did play a VERY good bad guy a little too convincingly for my taste.😟 But I can still appreciate his acting talent and have always said the best actors and actresses are the character actors.

@@ricknineg Of course ricknineg is correct. I don't know why Amazon Prime got the episodes listed out of sequence. I was watching a lot of Twilight Zone episodes the last few days. That show was quite dark! I remember the first time I saw them as a child, and they gave me nightmares then, and still do! TV shows used to be much more violent with a very high body count.
