I saw that video as well, and thought, she’s only stating a partial truth. Yes, twists can turn to locs if you leave them to their own devices. When listening to people, you have to eat the meat and spit out the bones, or in her case, just turn her off! 😂 I personally prefer plaits for their effectiveness at keeping shed hair in place and I don’t have to handle them as often. But, I’m really liking chunky twists because I’m able to have more fullness to my hair, and they’re a bit quicker to install and take down. And I can roll right into a twist out if I want to wear my hair out. I prefer twist outs over braid outs. I can’t do mini twists…with a 5 year old to homeschool and a 10 month to nurse, nobody has time for that! 😂 Love your videos Chris! Thanks as always! 💕💙

I can totally relate. There really is no time for mini twists in your case😊. I prefer twists cos they are easy to install...I have a number of full heads of hair to take care of...braids will take me more time...plus twists have done us really well.. it's all about learning your hair on the journey...In my case I had to learn my hair, learn the Girls' hair, Hubby's hair and now am in the process of learning my Son's hair😊...My older Son gets his hair cut so his routine is quick. I remembered I watched a stylist mention that twists aren't a style lol. I was like *girl bye* especially because she advises naturals to straighten their hair...but i digress... everybody has their own preference. I know for me, I cannot rock twists long-term the way I like. I love to keep my protective styles in for 2-3 months at a time. With twists, my hair mattes up so much quicker. I love a twist out and wearing big chunky twists for fun styles like for the week, but braids, especially mini braids are my go to. I also find my hair stays moisturized longer with braids than twists. I don't think "twists vs. braids" is a productive conversation especially because both have been used for women to retain length. You just have to find what works for you. I agree, I do not wash my hair with twists OR braids lol. MY hair shrinks and TIGHTENS even more so I always wash my hair loose. Great video :) You're so beautiful!

What I did was to learn what my hair likes and doesn't like, as you said I noticed if I washed my hair in the twists before undoing them my hair would tangle and get matted so I stopped. I have to undo them, detangle and then wash. When re moisturizing I don't spray water or hair tea directly ,I only use it on my scalp and apply leave in conditioner on the length of my hair then seal. This method works for me because I usually do medium to mini twists so I don't manage taking them down to re moisturise.

Thank you for this, very informative. I love my crown and since I was a very young girl I have always taken care of my own hair, just by intuition. I am so glad to hear you say these things because years ago, before natural hair videos were a thing, I kept my mini single braids in for 17 months doing exactly what you advise. I didnt have anyone to guide me yet somehow I instinctively knew that my hair would mat if I did not look after it. During that whole period, I treated the braids as my own hair. I took down every single one every few weeks and re plaited, it may sound labour intensive, but it really wasnt. I would take them down, detangle and re braid when I was watching TV or chatting with friends on weekends or evenings. I washed, conditioned, deep conditioned, every couple of weeks and wash day was much easier than with open hair. I moisturized every other day or as needed, styled as I wished and generally treated them as I would my hair. The results were incredible and that was the longest and healthiest my hair had ever been. Years later, I am on a similar journey. I am 7 month in but this time, I will probably do only 10 months as my hair is now silver and needs much more moisture. I dont want to keep them in too long as Ive noticed that its harder to moisturize grey hair especially in braids. I am also older and have a bit less patience😄 but so far so good, my hair is thriving. Thanks for all you do for us.

I lost 4inches in the first two years from lack of moisturize knowledge. Yes Chris is right. I only twist for a few days before I wash and usually keep in just a few braids and moisturize daily. I wash and rebrand once a week, I may co wash once a week.. I finally have no problem with tangles when I keep it controlledI, it detangles easily. I use some of Chris's products most times. Cleaning, Moisturizing, protecting, and keeping your hair controlled is necessary for growth and hair health. You have to figure out if your hair likes braids or twists. 4c thin strand probably does better in a few braids. 4c med/thick probably does better in twists and or braids. I'm old and my hair grew like regular. 4c type hair needs taming and controlling and the right product combinations to behave. And guess what so does every other hair type. If you can take care of all those other things on your body , shouldn't your hair be one of them, Shouldn't be difficult it's part of you. Thanks, Chris for the good advice.It's all correct.

So I take it down up to the root and do a third of my hair a day, so it takes 3 days to completely retwist my whole hair, about 6 hours a day, and I do make sure to be in the right mind when doing my hair, mentally prepared. When taking down, I wet each section and use a detangling conditioner and pin to take down my hair carefully. My hair does matte up and it takes most of the time, but honestly it is a lot better than being in mini braids(because I don’t like the look) and the stress and pain from reparting my hair because I don’t like the look of big parts because my hair is short

@@lindsaychrisharmony Regarding techniques on caring for their fine hair, since the hair is very fragile and cannot be treated the same way as thick hair.
@fangirl39375 ай бұрын
@@phinnysakana2229 I am a fine haired natural and I wear twists most of the time. I wash my hair every 10days. Detangle hair before washing.Always pre poo and deep condition every wash day. I also use protein conditioners as my hair is high porosity. If my twists look frizzy i will take down and refresh. I also use flaxseed gel as this helps to moisturise and set my twists.

Also the hair can start to thin on the ends. Breaking and the strands get weak because they are not receiving the same even brushing and treatment you will be set back

i think its the hair type. I have two hair types, 4c in the back and 3c in the front. when i do twists in the back it does not tangle, but the 3c at the front, yeh nah it starts to loc up.... and I also wash my hair for a month and wash them lmao.... not smart
