I think maybe they don't really understand what they're involved in. Like they don't understand that these companies are MLMs or they don't understand what an MLM is. I feel like they're all a bit naive because of how sheltered their lives are. Also I feel like they were still quite vulnerable after getting away from a Narcissist and getting out of a cult. Also being on their own and having to support themselves for the first time. I think they were probably preyed upon and they're doing whatever their upline or other reps are telling them. I also feel like they may really believe in the stuff or want to believe it because Janelle and Christine have both been struggling with weight and health issues. I feel like they're not trying to do anything malicious or trying to fool people. I think they want to do everything they can to make an income from Plexus. I am someone that's been through hell and had some similar experiences. I escaped a 30yr. relationship with an abusive narcissist, I was totally brain washed and it took someone else to show me the truth. I was also conned into 2 MLM's years ago. When I was still in the brainwashed world. It's been 4 years of working on healing, that I am now strong enough to see the truth in everything. I did a lot of work, a lot of research and learning. Plus in depth trauma healing and watching lots of educational and informative videos like these. It takes a lot to become strong and learn how to tell when something is true or not. When you've been constantly gas lighted for so many years it becomes really difficult to know what the real truth is. Now I'm specifically speaking of Janelle and Christine. I honestly feel that they are being told what to say and post. They're being told that this is what you need to do to make it in this company. So they're just agreeing and doing whatever they're told and believing they're doing something good. As far as Molly and Cynthia, I feel they know what they're doing. They're both legitimate business owners and they're pretty savvy and street smart. They've both been single taking care of themselves for quite awhile. I just don't think they're as naive, but who knows. Maybe Molly is gullible, I mean she did fall for a love and marriage scam on 90 days. So I'm not sure. I do know when I got talked into Avon or Mary Kay, I did everything possible to sell my products and did listen to whatever my upline told me to do. Looking back I did things that I would never do now. Honestly I didn't know then that I shouldn't be doing those things. 🤷

I've bought Plexus before. Not for me but for my cat. See, when I adopted my cat, he had 'known stomach issues' and the rescue had put him (the cat) on the Plexus's probiotics. I was told that it was the only thing that controlled his bowels and vomiting. I adopted him mainly because no one wanted the cat due to his stomach issues (he had been passed around from one adoption place to another for a year) and I knew that I could give him the love and attention that he needed. I kept him on the probiotics for a couple of years, bought it from a person I didn't know, never met but was who the rescue had used to get it from. Will say after two years, it got old. Never saw the 'stomach' issues that this cat was suppose to have, so I stopped giving him the probiotics. It's been 3 years now since his last pill, and still no issues, just a normal cat living his best life. His only problem is he will beg for 'people food' and I think the original owner fed him table scraps which cause the 'stomach issues' that they claimed he had.

What she forgets to mention is that she also changed her entire diet to a vegan diet, and eats WAY more vegetables, too. She also gives it to her kids and says that their bodies have also changed due to Plexus, but they've ALSO changed their diets to be "healthier." Like, yes, you've lost weight while *actively drinking* Plexus, but the other changes to your lifestyle (such as diet and exercise) are *probably* where the majority, if not all, of your weight loss has been from.
@LisaHarvey16 Жыл бұрын
I totally agree. Changing your diet will account for most of the weight loss. That is so deceiving and wrong!
@ZimVader-0017 Жыл бұрын
A change of diet doesn't just help you lose weight, it helps you in other places health wise too. One of my college professors told us how one of his kids had really bad gastritis, and as someone who worked as a pharmacist, he didn't like feeding his kid so many pills. So he and his wife slowly changed the whole family's diet to a healthier one (so that the kid didn't feel like it was only him) and the symptoms just stopped. They obviously still have antacids on hand just in case they have to eat out at a restaurant or something, but the condition isn't as severe. Gastritis is basically the stomach mucus getting irritated and producing more acid than normal, so getting rid of whatever is causing said irritation can help.

There's another reason these particular reality stars are hustling their fans with mlm "oportunities." People who've been following the TLC show know there's some financial uncertainty now that the family is breaking up (destroying the premise of the TV show portraying polygamy). Also, due to the way fans have reacted to the various personalities involved, Christine and Janelle in particular are enjoying alot of fan support and sympathy, and are generally seen as victims who "escaped". Pushing their side-hustles now is just striking while the iron is hot, taking advantage of favorable fan opinion while it lasts.

The best way to make money in an MLM is to be famous for other reasons, then dupe 1% of those fans (the most vulnerable / impressionable) into joining a scam "business opportunity."

I love watching your content Hannah. I have always been fascinated with the psychology around mlm’s and cults as there is some major cross over. I mostly wanted to comment today because I find it so funny how advert algorithms work. While watching I was forced to watch an ad for a company that helps “network marketers” better market themselves online- it was such a cringy and stilted ad. But I love that they have wasted ad money to advertise to me (and likely other people watching your content) because we all know how crap mlm’s are and are not really their target audience. Sometimes the algorithms work for good! Keep up the good work, exposing the predatory practices of mlm’s.

I just stumbled across a video (that features you, Hannah, briefly!) by Jordan and McKay about how MLMs have roots in Mormonism, and oh it explains so much about the fact that this is a women's thing to do from home, focusing on weight loss, beauty (Mormon goals) and household items/prepper stuff (a basic principle of the faith, stock up), and the predatory, exploitative practices and claims like "This will heal you". These hosts grew up Mormon themselves and this was eye-opening, starting with the tithe (giving 10% of what you make). It's a distortion of church teaching and LDS has addressed "affinity fraud" as something that can get you excommunicated but the similarities remain: these schemes borrow language and concepts from religious organization and thus it resembles a cult.

What a pity. I had a lot of respect for these two women, Janelle in particular. Not so much so after watching this video... Janelle is a very smart woman. And more than that, she’s especially smart about finances. She knows what she’s doing. With that said, I really enjoyed your style of presentation and storytelling here. Going down the same rabbit hole that you did was intriguing.

This totally doesn't surprise me....Kody was always pushing them to make money to support the entire family and to pay for the lifestyle HE wanted. Their jewelry line bombed, and Meri's BnB doesn't make a huge profit. I just hope they wise up sooner than later.
