The day I put my dog down, I turned off every single notfication on my phone. I was with my wife, so in an emergency, she was reachable. I haven't turned most of them back on, and the incessant pop ups when I open an app to enable the notifications just reinforces that I don't ever want them back.

Focus Modes also help if you are unable to do the 2 phone scenario - they can be set to exclude notifications from certain apps at certain times of the day…

I’ve failed at this. Trying something new at the moment. Keep an eye out for a follow up video.

@@MarcusCreates Hey Marcus! Did you ever settle on something that worked? Absolutely love the channel btw, have been binge watching nearly all of it.

Dear Chap, my thanks especially for this video. In another video you mentioned having a 'weekender' phone and that brought me here. I've truly been suffering phone overwhelm and you've given me the best solution to date. As well as thanks for this idea, my thanks in general for a stream of well considered, thoughtful, helpful and good natured content.

Thanks so much buddy. I see you commented in my Q&A section too. Looking forward to tackling this one. What have you tried so far?

@@MarcusCreates Amazing to hear from you. 💎 So I tried digging out my Motorola Razr flip phone from 2006. Honest to God, its lovely to carry, slim, sleek, great aesthetics, light as a feather, battery for days, it made me very nostalgic, and it freed me from WhatsApp that I used to adore and that I now hate with a passion. I could breathe again but there are 3 functionalities I still need or miss - 1. parking apps (its no longer possible to drive and not have these) 2. maps, 3. podcasts - so after seeing your video, the cheapest iPhone I see I can get is a reconditioned 6S for about £80 smackers and at the end of each working day, I'll be swapping the sim out of the brain munching work monster into what I'm already calling my ShyPhone. Honestly don't know why I didn't think of it sooner. Good thinking, Mr O'Brien. 🙌

Hey Marcus, found this video very relatable I love what dumb phones are meant to do in theory but you highlight a very important point here about how the dumb phones are extremely hard to use and integrate practically with modern society.

Thanks buddy. This video didn’t do so well on KZbin for me so appreciate you watching and commenting. It’s funny because it was a video I felt really strongly about.

Hi there, could you please tell me how do you install this black & white theme on your iPhone ?
@MarcusCreates Жыл бұрын
I watched a video on KZbin to be honest. Essentially what you do is move all the applications from your home screen you want to have on your and then create custom shortcuts to each app. When you create a shortcut you can assign an icon. So I created my own icons.

Thanks, will try to find some minimalist icons somewhere @@MarcusCreates

Can you have 2 phones with the same number?
@forrestbgreene7 ай бұрын
This is the idea I had come up with to hopefully help with the distraction that comes from my phone as well. Curious did you get another phone plan for the second phone with a new number or do you use it with your existing Apple ID and just use it over Wi-fi? I think I have heard if trying to use it that way sometimes messages don’t come through until much later.
@daves64152 жыл бұрын
That's a good idea - do you swap the sim back and forth or is this second phone a "wifi-only" phone?
@MarcusCreates2 жыл бұрын
Wi-Fi only on the Weekender.

Marcus, I have the SE2, how did you change the settings on your mini? Secondly, how do you share the same phone number? I was looking to use a flip phone for travel and an iPhone on wifi

If you want to spend less time on your phone.....buy a Blackberry Key2....You will want to use it only for text messaging, emails, map, and NOTHING else as it sucks for anything else.
@MarcusCreates2 жыл бұрын
Hahaha. That’s kind of how I felt about the Nokia. Has to have a great camera too in my books to be viable. I’m enjoying the iPhone mini. Thanks for the heads up. 👍🏻
