I mean, Ted Bundy was a “nice guy.” Chris Watts was a “nice guy.” Scott Peterson was a “nice guy.” I know these cases are different but my point is, you can’t rule someone out because they’re, “nice.” That’s one of the most ignorant things I’ve ever heard!

One thing I have to say is if they found $1,200 cash in Lauren's belongings, there is no way she asked a man that she just met for $40 to do her nails. Everything about his story is suspect

This really depends on what kind of person we’re talking about. I’m not assuming this about Lauren but I know people in my own family who (when dating) are looking to see if a man will spend money on them or not. Even if they have money already.

@@veronicagrave159 Mrs. Graves, look at that woman. In almost every picture her nails were done. BEFORE THIS PHYSCO. i truly believe this case is just smothered in foul play and these people know. I dont know how someone being a nice man could dismiss any of this. She had 3 drugs in her system including alcohol. No matter if he says she was in the bathroom for 10-15 minutes. How coould you ingest that many drugs in that amount of time. to return to a movie so calm. its just mind boggling. so many inconsistencies in this mans story and such a beautfiul life lost. "Very nice guy" is code for: He has powerful connections within law enforcement or the judicial system and possibly has something to hide in his history that is similar to this case. The police only go out of their way to protect their own and they've gone over and beyond out of their way to protect this man. Their negligence is blatantly criminal and needs to be assessed as such. This is also discrimination and there is no attempt to hide that they were tampering with and withholding vital evidence needed to proceed with a thorough investigation. I hope the family is successful with their lawsuit but I would've personally went for more money just for the simple fact that they are intentionally negligent.

Many years ago I was present when an accidental death occured. I actually performed CPR on him. It was during a party and he legitimately accidentally overdosed. I was the one who called the emergency responders. Even though I didn't know the guy and certainly wasn't there with him, I felt so bad for his family, I not only called them to tell them all I knew about his final moments on earth, but I also attended his funeral. It's what I'd want if the shoe was on the other foot. Something's sketch.

@Kerry RedWolf hi kerry, I don't understand what you mean? My comment was pretty clear. White women (people) get more coverage than people of color unfortunately. They also get treated with more compassion and respect from law enforcement. These two cases are extremely suspicious and yet the police aren't doing anything to find answers for the families and justice for the victims which is appalling. They deserve just as much energy put into their cases as they would a white woman (person). Hope that clears things up for you?

You should know that not all cases of a white woman being abused or murdered are looked into. The fact the cops did not notify the parents about Lauren being found dead is absolutely DISGUSTING. And then to be told when they do call the detective to not worry about the man that found their daughter dead because he’s a “nice guy” is just absolutely mind boggling. The way the detective and cops handled her case is absolutely horrific. Just honestly so messed up and someone should be held responsible for the neglect this family has gone through trying to find out what happened to their poor daughter.

I've just emailed the Bridgeport police, respectfully urging them to apply more resources to properly investigate the circumstances of both women's deaths, for the sake of the families and also the community and wider society. We just CAN'T let any unusual, suspicious death go uninvestigated, doesn't matter who it was or their level of wealth or power or their race or gender or whatever, every one is important that it's properly investigated. Otherwise it undermines the value that society puts on one person's life. It would be so dangerous to allow that to be undermined.

Can you please do a story on one of my closest and dearest friend’s Aesha Muhammad who has been missing from Philadelphia, PA since November 30, 2000. Aesha Muhammed was a 23-year old loving, doting young mother. Aesha came from a close-knit family, with who she was in continuous contact. She was working at a salon and attending Venus Beauty Academy in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her 2-year old son, Amaru, was the love of her life. Aesha lived in a boarding house run by her father's half-brother, then 57-year old Charles Dockins. Aesha and Charles didn't get along and often argued. On November 30, 2000, Aesha packed her things to move out and called her brother, Soloman. Aesha said she wanted someone to pick them up because she had been arguing with Charles. Both her and her 2 year old son went missing. Her son was found several weeks later at a church in Orange, NJ, but Aesha has never been found. Can you bring awareness to her story? I'm only sixteen minutes in, but Lauren's case is already very odd to me. Her family wasn't notified of her death until over a day after it happened, the policeman on the case literally told her loved ones, who were in shock and desperate for answers, to stop calling him. Then this random guy she's just met for a very casual date carries her to bed and sleeps in there with her?! I get that some people don't have strong boundaries, but honestly, if my date falls asleep on the couch of their apartment, I'd have just got up and gone home instead of sleeping in a stranger's bed. Then there's a used condom in her room, but he claims they didn't have sex? Not investigating the last person to be with her prior to her death because he was a "nice guy" is just horrible. Anybody can be "nice" when they have to save themselves from suspicion. The plate of food on the living room floor strikes me as weird, too.

“He’s a nice guy” , such obvious bias from the Bridgeport police department. These cases are so upsetting, not only should the two men seen with Lauren and Brenda be investigated, but the whole department should be as well. There is such obvious foul play happening here. I hope these families are able to get justice for Laura and Brenda. ):

My husband is a homicide detective and literally last night was able to find the wife of a deceased man in Egypt and put in an international phone call to her to notify her of her husband’s death. There’s absolutely no way that they couldn’t find next of kin to notify, in fact it’s required to do so or at least make every possible attempt. Also, going to the scenes of these deaths, the detectives should have had forensics come out to take evidence and a mandatory autopsy would have been ordered through the medical examiner’s office because these deaths were of unknown origin when the bodies were found. Basically, at least in my husband’s department, you investigate every death fully and take all evidence found at the scene and question everyone you can possibly think of until you have confirmation of what happened and can rule it accidental, or medical, or a suicide or whatever it may be. This is absolutely abhorrent of this police department and these detectives should absolutely be fired and a full investigation into the department itself should be done. My heart breaks for these families and I really hope that they get the justice they deserve

Thank you for this summary! Other commenters are saying this was bad police work, but this was not even police work. This feels like the police were trying to ignore a death, for some bizarre reason, hoping it would go away. The police also aren’t known for stating that random men at the scene of unnatural deaths are “nice guys.” This all goes way beyond incompetence and into some weird conspiracy/cover-up scenario.

In Lauren's case, she was young, as far as we know healthy and the last person she was with when she passed was a man she didn't know that well. That should have been treated as immediately suspicious until proven otherwise. No excuses. Hopefully both cases will get resolution soon.
