It would have worked a lot better if he followed their “Flex Paste 101” video. The reason it couldn’t seal the hole in the bucket was because it had already dried because he kept leaving the paste out. He wasn’t supposed to throw away the lid, silica pack, or foil and he shouldn’t have had that paste left on the trowel for so long. This is also why it was hard for him to spread it on that piece of wood; it had already started drying because he left it out! *He didn’t listen to the instruction, which is why it didn’t work as well as it did in the commercial.*

We used this stuff on a basement window that is "below ground" that was filling with water as the snow melted. Stopped the leak 100% and was used while the leak was active. You CAN fix slow leaks/cracks while they are actively leaking/wet. I don't know if it works if you apply underwater as I had drained most of the water away and below where the leak was

If you add a mesh type tape first over the hole and let the flex paste go through the holes of the mesh, you'll strengthen the repair. Like if you're repairing a hole in your roof, put down a mesh first-staple it it down and then apply the paste, you won't be able to penetrate it.

Just to let you guys know in his experiment with the buckets. You're suppose to put something over the hole to help you structure the paste. So basically you put a piece of take on either side of the hole and THEN you scrape the past evenly over the pieces of tape. It comes out nice and smooth will completely dry because you don't have to put an exceeding amount of past to cover the hole.

Considering the laws of physics, I'd think puttying the hole from inside the bucket would be more effective as the pressure on the patch would be pushing against the hole, with the excess strengthening it & keeping it from pushing through. A reason this has trouble on the larger holes in wall and bucket holes is because this type of hole and a "paste" has no lattice to grip onto so it tries to glob through a bit. Spackle has the same issue and you use a tape that is a lattice like structure that makes it adhere better. The operation tends to be applying a small amount, then the tape (it doesn't have an adhesive so you a re using the spackle or this) and then applying more over it.

I had a tree fall on a shed roof, made pretty big gashs. I nailed a 2x4 from underside for support, reshaped the roofing material back to close to original shape and then used the flex seal to fill in the holes. Wala! Tested for leaks, no issues. Went back with roofing patch and fiberglass bandage and again roofing patch. Good as new..

I think the reason why the first bucket had an issue was because of the water pressure. There was a large hole and it was near the bottom of a full bucket, so a lot more pressure was coming out and it’s designed to be mouldable.

Hi Thanks for the honest review of this stuff. I am considering using it to seal the inside of a rock tumbler drum. Its about the size of a small wheel...BIG tumbler. And it was sealed with some kind of rubberized sealant inside the drum long before I acquired them. Whatever they used ...unknown... was hard rubbery and resisted abrasion from the rocks and polishing grit very well. I am curious about the abrasion resistance this has...Can you sand it smooth after application? Would it stand up to sand blasting or some other form of accelerated abrasion? I think it is just what I need to repair the coating in one of my drums.....But Id sure like to know how it might stand up against constant wear.

Just make sure you followed the instructions. And keep the silica pack and foil. Also, with your second bucket, the Barrel was straight, which makes it easier for Flex Seal to stick to. For curved objects, use Flex Tape or Flex Seal.

I bet it actually dries even faster underwater than in air, the foil and silica gel in the package make me think it probably dries with a chemical reaction with the moisture in air, like super glue. Of course, that also means once it's past a certain thickness it'll take a long time to dry or might even never dry, because it's basically sealing itself from drying.
