What's missing in this discussion is that the cause of these compressions may not be a person's anatomy (as in shape of bones), but rather certain muscles failing to relax and therefore transferring and focusing the force of movement into areas that wouldn't be otherwise experiencing it. This can vary significantly from day to day in the same person - one day I can do a relaxed full lotus, another day all I feel is compression in the knees. Overstretching in particular will cause swelling and resistance from the overstretched muscles during the next day(s). Other kinds of abuse and repetitive injury without adequate rest will cause muscles to enter chronic stiff mode (my favorite way to injure myself seems to be by jumping). And there are of course all the surprising distant connections, stiffness in the feet and ankle will translate into knee and hip problems, which will then affect back... knocked out abdominal and back muscles will translate into shoulder and arm pains etc.

Or that hypermobility often means that the people performing the movements often dont experience the same sensations surrounding the tension and compression which can lead to injuries.

Oh my goodness Adele, I just found your comment on this video - I've never thought of the internet as a small place but today it feels like that! Sadly this still means my hip is flaring up and I'm seeking more answers and remedies
