I’m 16. When I discovered the album aged six back in 2014 when it appeared on my iTunes I listened to it on repeat for weeks. Songs of innocence was the first album I ever listened to start to finish and I soon became a massive fan of U2. From U2 I started exploring other music from the 80s, it defined and still defines my music taste. People may disagree over the distribution of the album on iTunes. But for me, this is the album that sparked my love of music. Thank you U2 ❤

wow that is interesting what time does. I’m an older fan who gladly accepted the album although annoying when it’d come on randomly on the phone because it is still the only music that I have on here. I ended up saving only my favs off the album. Going back to that time, that was their first album coming back from the low disappointing sales of NLOTH. And that album seemed so promising there was something called the beach clips where Bono blasted the songs out of his villa and people on the beach recorded. Which you heard literal breaking waves mixed in and they sounded really great. These got erased off the internet. The songs were there but something didnt click. Anyway they got really worried about this release, since the music landscape changed so Bono thought that idea up so the music would actually be heard. Apple as Bono put it “was meant to leave the milk at your door but instead put it in your fridge and in some cases, your cereal bowl” I’m glad new fans came out of it which in most likeliness would’ve never heard the music at least at the time.

My Mom took me to see U2 for the very first time back in 1985. I just lost her in October after a battle with Altzheimers, and lost my Dad only 5 weeks later. My parents always encouraged me to follow my dreams, whether it be traveling to Ireland or meeting friends across the US at concerts and getting to meet U2. I lost interest in the band after I became a busy Mom, but the funny thing is, I heard this song in a hair salon one day while waiting for Mom to get her hair done and the years came rushing back. Thank you Mom and Dad, I love and miss you. Thank you U2 for being the soundtrack of my youth, and now a part of my adulthood too... ❤

My dad has been a fan of U2 since he was really young... he even's got a tattoo. And I have always thought that U2 is a really successful band, with a big fanbase. But a few weeks ago, I found out about the reason of why my dad cries when he listens "original of the species", it's a beautiful song, and he gets emotional when he hears it because it reminds him about me... so I listened the song again and it took a new meaning for me. Now I'm checking their other songs, like I still haven't found what I looking for and Bad, and they're really profound and beautiful. I'm finally understanding why they are a band that's so big and important, they don't release commercial music, they're profound and special.

I can't explain it but this song reminds me of someone that I'm going to love. Best music in the WHOLE WORLD is RIGHT HERE. THIS CHANNEL. THIS BAND. Sometimes listening to this song and many others makes me cry form how beautiful it is. Great work, god, for making this band work out. For having these people meet. For creating music to inspire us to make more.

BEST SONG EVER MADE THE LOVE U CAN’T FORGET AND KEEP IN YOUR HEART WITHOUT NO ONE KNOW THAT U STILL LOVE THAT PERSON!

Back in 2000s something I turned out to wake up with this album in my iPod and IPhone (back in the days i used to have an iPhone). At that time and space it was the best moment to listen to this song, even know, I don't take it as a marketing stunt, I take it as a nudge to go and live the most I can. I was going through some very dark times back then, and I started listening to this song that turned up in my library randomly and it gave me back my wings. U2 will forever be magically, I grew up with their music, as my dad is a huge fan. And listening to this song made me convinced to protect that light and have it never go out.

They are just a bunch of dumb people who are too lazy to switch off automatic downloads. Surely the first thing you do is switch off automatic downloads as soon as you get a new phone. If you don't then you should expect to receive everything and anything. Beyoncé did the same thing but with a few songs rather than a full album beforehand and it was a success for her as well. The music business is broken. Nowadays there's singers and bands doing the same thing every week

This is a song of healing for me. I love Bono and U2 so many meaningful songs

I’m guessing this song is about Bono’s early days with his wife… but listening in 2024 it make me reflect on my life, family that died, and where I was 10 years ago when this album came out. Classic U2. Timeless song.

U2 il primo amore nn si scorda mai. Quanti ricordi con October...War...Unforgettable Fire....Rattle and Hum....con loro gli anni 80 sono diventati indimenticabili. ❤️ Questo brano mi ricorda tanto quel periodo.

This song, just bring out all the pain I feel but makes me feel like it’s just enough to manage. Like there’s been a lift. This song, is something else. I’m in love. I’m glad I found this. It’s been years since i first heard it yet it always makes me feel the same way.

I had thought about my ex when I listened this song before, but now my mom has leukemia and that "someone" completely changed to her. This change is indecated of my life goes on with "someone" who can't always be. And it gave me a teathing that I should cherish someone always while there is a light. Thank you U2... made me realize it. from Japan

You got a face not spoiled by beauty I have some scars from where I’ve been You’ve got eyes that can see right through me You’re not afraid of anything they’ve seen I was told that I would feel nothing the first time I don’t know how these cuts heal But in you I found a rhyme If there is a light you can’t always see And there is a world we can’t always be If there is a dark that we shouldn’t doubt And there is a light, don’t let it go out And this is a song, a song for someone This is a song, song for someone You let me in to a conversation A conversation only we could make You break and enter my imagination Whatever’s in there it’s yours to take I was told I’d feel nothing the first time You were slow to heal but this could be the night If there is a light you can’t always see And there is a world we can’t always be If there is a dark that we shouldn’t doubt And there is a light, don’t let it go out And this is a song, a song for someone This is a song, song for someone And I’m a long way from your Hill of Calvary And I’m a long way from where I was and where I need to be If there is a light you can’t always see And there is a world we can’t always be If there is a kiss I stole from your mouth And there is a light, don't let it go out.
