Before you go on your way to pick up a pax, you can "stop new requests" if you press the 3 lines in the bottom right corner. You won't get any new requests while driving. You can go back online to drive after you drop off your Pax. (You can also do this with Lyft). ALSO the Uber app will have less drivers available, (you aren't available to take new rides if you stop new requests) so if lots of drivers did this, we might have potential to have more surge areas.

Only issue is for some reason now when you’re close to a drop off, and they ping you with new ride you can no longer see the turn for passenger in your car bc the new trip takes over the whole screen. Makes no sense. Now I send the trip to my car screen for every trip so I can still see drop off.

Instacart is the worst for breach of contract, aka taking back part of our tips for refunded items, or if the customer picks a cheaper replacement.. sure we get a few pennies more if they pick a more expensive item but thats extremely rare and its almost impossible to get every item due to stores still having stocking issues.. So that means almost every order is shorted from a few pennies to a few dollars (I just had $3.73 taken back from a $19 order).. Those pennies and dollars add up. Even if they only steal back 5$ a day, that's almost 2k a year per driver.. I don't know about you but I could use an extra $1,820 come Christmas time.. and multiply that by over 600,000 drivers and that's over a billion dollar scam.. (and if IC is truly refunding that tip money back to the customer, then they are leaving over a billion on the table cause 99.9% of the customers have no clue they just shorted me 23 cents or whatever).. The only thing I can hope for is they get caught and have to pay, but just like whenever uber loses a lawsuit, aft the lawyer fees we'll probably all get a check for like 8$. I want forced transparency. Every customer needs to be shown exactly what we are getting paid so they can either tip accordingly, or at-least understand how bad we are getting screwed.

It will be brutal like this for awhile, no life, but once I'm debt free, I won't need to rely. More drivers are going to go into other fields that match Uber. Most of us will still be driving, but better pay and benefits. Customers will wait LONGER for a ride and wonder why, and drivers will explain that Uber hasn't raised the rate card

@@rocketboostjump not true if you rent in a good market. You have to be full time though. Avis in my city charges 350 a week for everything. In my market it's possible to make 1400 minimum. I say minimum because it’s slow season right now. In a few weeks I’ll probably be hitting 2000-2500 a week gross and 1500-2000 net before taxes. And I never have to worry about maintenance. I also don’t have to pay inflated prices for insurance. I can pay the regular rate because I’m not using my vehicle for rideshare. Those savings more than make that 350 a week worth it. I prefer the 2 distances/times over 1 aggregated one. Knowing how close the pickup is makes it easier to know if I want that ride or not. Longer distances incur a higher chance of cancellation by the rider or redirection to another closer driver from Uber. I've been 10 minutes into a long pickup several times only for it to be cancelled or redirected. Waste of my time and $$. Depending on events, time of day, or how busy it is, I rarely take trips that are more than 6-8 mins away. Definitely agree that the upfront pay garbage has been a pay cut. They need to pay time and mileage like when Uber first came out.

I consider (1) the total distance of the trip, that is the pick up distance plus the drop off distance, and ratio it to the fare, if it gives less than 60 cents per mile,I am not doing that trip, example, pick up distance 18 miles, drop off distance 1.5 miles, upfront fare $7, I am not doing that trip, because the total distance is 20 miles for $7 which means 30 cents per mile ✖️ (2) In Dallas, I know the extremely cheap areas, even if a driver does 100 trips in those areas, the highest fare per ride the driver will get is $5, so I hardly take trips to those areas, especially long trips there, because the driver might end up driving almost 45 minutes back to a profitable area (3) After 5pm, before I accept any trip, I mentally calculate how far the drop off distance is from my house, I will never accept a trip that is above 30 miles from my house, no matter how tempting the fare, there was a day, around 6pm, I was about 10 miles to my house, I got a trip, that the pick up distance was 19 miles away, then the drop off distance was 85 miles, for $90...hell, I accepted the trip, then turned off my phone, and drove home....who does that, by 6pm, I should do a 2 hour trip, then drive another 2 hour back. Let me me frustrate both the rider, and Uber 😂

So 1 time for the whole trip sucks. We need both times period.
@andrewwheelock741810 ай бұрын
The reason they didn't want to show it is that half the rides that are "toward your destination", are absolutely not. They're trying to give riders rides, and some of the ones I pick up that are towards the destination take me in the wrong direction completely. No logical algorithm that wasn't lying to get a driver to accept the ride would do that. I'm also fairly annoyed at the way they use the flexibility of cities/regions in the destination. The drop off will sometimes give the region or generic city name, and not the suburb. But of course once the ride is picked up, they give you the exact suburb of the area that turns out to be in the wrong direction. (Something you couldn't tell when they gave you the main city region name before.) TLDR. Destination mode works the way Uber wants it to, but not the way a driver would want it to. Therefore, as another commenter said, it's trash.

Has anyone noticed that when offered a ride that shows time to pickup location during a ride, after they drop off the pax in the car, the pickup time is different than shown in the original farecard? I've usually only noticed it when it's shaved off by a few minutes, which is great for me, but I've also wondered if it will be longer and sometimes I'm just not noticing. I suppose I'm just wondering if they base the pick up location time based on your current location en route to dropping off your current pax, or if it's based off of the drop off location of your current pax. This might not even be a thing, and perhaps I'm just fortunate traffic altered to my favor during the time I was finishing up the current trip. Has anyone else noticed different pick up time after dropping off the pax you have in your car? Is it just me? Or am I just being confused and my mind's memory blends trip information together?

Never had the combined time and distances, and I'm glad. It's important to me to know both pieces of information. 1 min to pick up and 10 minutes to drop off is not the same as 10 minutes to pickup and a 1 min ride. Chances of pax canceling on you after driving 5 minutes in their direction increases, and driving 10 minutes for a no-show isn't profitable for me.

One thing that really annoys me is that, at least for me, after I accept a ride, I cannot see the address of my pickup and drop off except for I start navigation to the drop off lication with pax in my car. Why are they keeping that from us? Whats the point? Seeing the addresses would enable me to orient myself with my route, as I am familar with my area, rather than drive blindly. And i suppose I'll also mention how annoying it is for the uber navigation to try to have me take tolls en route to pick up pax, when they dont pay for tolls unless a pax is in car. I get ride requests that end up being an additional 7 minutes because i do not take tolls unless theres a pax in my car. I shouldnt even be getting that request. Having a pax see time increase as your driving to them is not a good look if one is hoping for a tip.
