Never thought I'd be so into a video about wood flooring

I've watched many videos on this topic to prepare for fitting an engineered wood floor in our new home, and this is by far the best! Really clear descriptions of each step, with good views of exactly what needs to be done. Well done!

Excellent tutorial and nice job. I have been watching videos with technical work for years and I see that the English is absolutely explanatory and professional!

I always remove skirting, it gives it a better finish. Also no one ever shows you haw to go through to other rooms. Good job I was taught by my dad to do this tricky job.

That is sometimes very difficult and a whole other can of worms.

I dislike scotias and have decided to use skirting board covers when my floor has been laid, as I find removing skirting is a pain, although great to paint when removed!

@@TheKwaze Damn, I'd never heard of skirting board covers and I've already removed mine - I should have done this, would have saved so much hassle.

I plan to cut strips of 9mm mdf at about 8-10cm wide to stick up against the skirting. Then paint white to have a seamless look with skirting. This will cover the expansion gap and avoid horrible scotias. My old skirting boards will take half the walls off if I touch them😂

I’ve watched so many KZbin’s but haven’t seen information about how you measure your joints, so timber’s don’t have joints in same spot? I saw some people doing pattern for joints but what’s the desired measurements? Cheers

Does solid wood or engineered wood need to be glued down?

No adhesive required?

Hi you don't put any glue for engineering floor thanks

You can install engineered wood floating, or stapled, no need for glue unlike laminate

Many, if not all videos seem to show the person glueing the tongue and groove together. Is this necessary in a floating floor? I kind of like the idea that if pieces of the floor need to be replaced, that they could be. I'd only like to glue it down if it really does need it. Surely the joint created by the tongue and groove is enough? edit: Oak floor. Oiled. 5mm Rubber Underlay. Wooden sub-floor.

Dependant on the T&G is it "click" style flooring or is it traditional tongue and groove?

Hi, I'm having issues with a few popping sounds when walking on the 'homechoice' brand 14mm. Subfloor is 100% level. Is it okay if I glue the tongue and groove? Many thanks
@Reakerboy2 жыл бұрын
Yep same here, it just gets worse. I took it all up and strong pva glued the grooves, all good for 3 weeks and now popping and cracking is back. Not good. Never had this happen with any other floor I've put down.

Absolutely Brilliant,... very exoensive material to mess up,... but this video & the clear simple instructions give me the confidence to get stuck in,... One thing I'm doing is to ensure that in front of a door leading outsude that there is a Full Plank with equal distance middle to each side. This is to avoid moisture being bought in through the door straight onto a join. Doogles dont alwsys stop to get their feet wiped 😂

Absolute nightmare connect the ends of the boards when no room for knocking block
@AndrewCoakley2 жыл бұрын
Use the pulling bar tool shown at 1:13. Hook the end on the panel, and then hit the protruding part of the bar with your hammer to close the gaps.
