A decade ago I was down in southern Georgia with some friends. We heard about a BBQ place about 2 miles away from our hotel down some back roads. We got there and as my buddies and I were talking some of the other customers there could tell we weren't from there. So, they came up to us and said, "Y'all are from up north aren't ya? Where from Tennessee are y'all from?!" One of my friends and I just looked at each other with weird looks and chuckled and said, "No, we're not from Tennessee. We're from Michigan. And I kid you not they were like, "Ah, hell nah!" and quickly left the small little BBQ restaurant. Again my friend and I looked at each other and were like wtf as we busted out laughing.

Scrap that is not even true. Keisha condemned the riots. Crime rate is lower from last year. She condemned the killing of the 8 year old. And just like any other city, you can visit here. People come to Atlanta all the time. Just avoid Southwest Atlanta(where the killing occured) any remain vigilant and careful and you are fine. Now i do not think that garret should be charged with murder. I think it should be a lesser charge like voluntary manslaughter because he could have shot him in the legs. Not 3 times aiming the back. And the 3rd shot nearly hit someone in a nearby car.

But when commenting on Blacks he only points out the worst crummiest Black areas "ghettos" in each state and totally misses every opportunity to highlight an area where Blacks are doing well. Like alot of parts of the Atlanta Metro. The area in general is beloved by many Black folks in the country because it has such an unusually high number of Black professionals and entrepreneurs doing well compared to the rest of America.

A few notes to add... Savannah is where Forest Gump was filmed. "Run Forest, run!" It's a beautiful city and was originally the capitol of Georgia. It's very rich in history. Brunswick is the home of Brunswick Stew (a BBQy stew) and is also historical. I can promise, rural GA is NOT like Honey Boo-boo... kind of like we don't actually have walking dead either... just kind of seems that way in the middle of summer when it's so hot. Ya totally left out Sylvester Georgia... the peanut capitol of the world. Yeah, most of the people are up around Atlanta and the rest of Georgia is actually really happy about that. *wink* And you also missed under ground Atlanta. Georgia is also the newer home for a lot of film and television. Georgia has a lot of BBQ and it is smoked, not grilled. To explain a few other things... Georgia is high in lime content in the ground... thus sink holes (aka lime sinks) can form. Atlanta is primarily on granite. Atlanta area can therefore handle the high rise buildings that the rest of the state can not. South Georgia has a lot of natural springs too... see Radium Springs (near Albany).

Pretty good video.. I approve! I live in North Augusta SC on the border of Augusta Ga. I feel more connected to Augusta since all my jobs were in GA. I wanted to add that Augusta has become the cyber security center of the south, also Fort Gordon Army base is the Signal Corp Center for the military. We've had a major influx of families in 3yrs moving from Washington DC and other areas. So much so that it required building new houses, subdivisions and new schools and the expansion hasn't slowed down. After former Governor Sonny Perdue announced in the media the building of the Cyber Security Center they literally broke ground the next day. I've never seen 4 3 -story buildings build so fast. Also this part of GA and SC has a low cost of living.. 🏘️⛳. Sorry got carried away lol...

as a military brat and military spouse Id say its a lot like living anywhere else in America. You may still experience some culture shock when you first arrive but then you realize theres still a walmart over there and you realize you're still in america. It is green, it does get humid and It has bugs. Coastal Georgia looks way different from the rest of Georgia. College teams people prefer differ depend on which boarder you live closest to. Think the thing that weirded me out the most when I got here is people are particularly religious and there is a church on every corner. People will be very sweet and open out in public and will hug everybody but then behind closed doors can be very anti-lgbtq and racist at the same time. Whenever a family member of a coworker dies as well they collect money and you are expected to donate and they give the wad of cash to the coworker. You do get asked a lot "are you a christian?" or "where are you from" as they can smell a different accent on you before you speak. Good thing about Georgia is there is plenty of outdoors stuff. If you want to hike in the mountains or go snowboarding or kayaking or surfing. If you want a white christmas or hot summers. If you want entertainment and access to travel and luxury...it kinda does have everything.

You hit it correctly a lot about what it’s like to live in Georgia. I live in Valdosta, which is pretty hip compared to the rest of South Georgia. But, the whole state is generally a good place to live compared to a lot of the rest of the United States. I have worked all over the state and prefer anywhere below Macon to live and work. If you haven’t experienced the Okfenok Swamp in South Georgia you will be missing an experience of a lifetime. It’s like something out of Jurassic Park. You will never forget it. North Georgia , ie, Atlanta, isn’t anything like it used to be. I would only live around places anywhere north of Atlanta. As far as Florida, I lived in Jacksonville, and Miami, and South Georgia is where I would rather be.:8

I have lived all over the U.S. attended GA Southern for college and Mercer for law school and currently live in Peachtree City and you confuse rural or poor with ghetto. Not everyone in Georgia is a (Th)Uga fan. There are number of Ramblin' Wrecks around who detest the flea bitten mutts/gator bait. An historical note, the phrase "There's gold in those hills' is not about California but about Georgia. The first major gold in 1829 was in north Georgia and in 1849 many of the prospectors went to California. The US Mint director in Dahlonega, GA was reminding the prospectors there is gold in Georgia.
