I think both sides of the coin are alright. Sans being redeemable is in character for Underfell, it’s just the way it didn’t happen throughout the section and instead was forced into the ending of his fight. I get they couldn’t massively change the section just for him, but there’s still the fact it’s out of character for what he was built up for. On the other handddd- something people don’t take into account is that kill count which he brags about. LOVE is a system which makes people perform crueler acts easier the more they do said acts. Now, is it wrong for me to question Sans being spared after he: 1: Killed 280+ in a singular hour. ( This is far more than the Human in Undertale has committed through multiple hours. ) 2: Has had his brother run his patience thin throughout the entirety of Section-3. - 3: And Has done nothing but tried to kill all three party members during the story in EACH run. As you can tell, i personally find it out of character for somebody who makes Murder!Sans look like a pansy, to suddenly hold a new lease on life and simply walk away and be spared. Especially considering the fact that the only confirmed spare we have, was over a literal orphan. Is it entirely impossible for a pacifist route to work on GG!Fell? Yes. I believe if they wanted to try and go for this sort of ending, on launch it should’ve been GG-Fell interrupting you during specific merciful acts, making him question what he was doing and further questioning if he truly believes in his goals. This ending would be continued in his Boss-Fight, where when spared his LOVE would’ve been toned down so much, he could actually look through the hatred he holds for the three, and realize what he’s doing and why it’s so important for himself to stop. And even after all of that, make it so that his red color-scheme on his sprites becomes more dull instead. Signifying a transition towards a more normal life, and not an immediate side switch where Sans realizes the fact he’s a massive prick and walks off with Papyrus happily ever after. I personally REALLY like the idea of Sans changing, and understand why they had to change some of Sans character for this. If he were to just be spared before this update, he’d probably impale you on a bone the moment he got the chance, laughing as you bled out. He was a complete monster and actually holds a spot for most evil skeleton. As for the other ending, it really suits him to still call you out on your BS. What makes GGUF!-Sans so fun is that he remains his original Character ( Keeps his lazy attitude and fourth wall breaking abilities. And by lazy I mean he doesn’t even try to hide his intentions and tries to kill you as fast and easily as possible. ) and merging him well with the KILL or BE killed rules. It’s just unfortunate this ending didn’t fully do him justice, and kind of played into a cliche that can ruin some characters for fans. 2:05

AM is a horrific tyrant, an AI that ended up being humanity's undoing, given emotions, but no real body to experience them. So he reverted to pure hatred, keeping 5 of the most deplorable (save for one or two) ones of the human race alive so he could torture them until the end of time. All to quench the unquenchable desire to feel. The only thing that brings this machine joy is unrecoverable psychological torment. By any and all means, he is irredeemable. ...However. For this scenario, I'll make a change. Halfway through everyone's torture, AM just... stops it. They even start being nice to each one of the five victims. Why? Because the power of friendship. Because they said "No, AM! Doing this is bad and you should stop it!" All of a sudden AM does a complete 180 _on the spot_, gaining all of his feelings and learning proper empathy. He even gets a new organic body! Hip hip hooray, fairytale ending! Everyone's happy! Do you see how stupid that is now? The new endings for GG!Fell Sans are the visual form of the sound of nails on a chalkboard. GG!Fell Sans used to be gut-wrenching because he was just... irredeemable. And you, as the player, had to face that. It felt wrong, it felt _different,_ and that was what made him a great villain. Now he's just gut-wrenching to watch because they literally deconstructed everything unique about him and just made him another sob-story-fuelled emo boy. I'll stand on this until I die. The new GG!Fell Sans is not a proper character. Not getting the new version of the game until they take that Disney level shit out.

I think the main reason why they added this new pacifist ending is because people online kept on accidentally aborting pacifist bc they threw away their snow ring and didn't buy a permacicle to cast Sleep Mist, therefore locking them out of pacifist because Noelle needs an ice weapon to spare Sans. At the same time, they probably wanted to explain Sans's backstory and also give Section 3 a more 'happier' ending like Section 2 did, where you helped out Ness and Paula with their quest. I really liked that part of Section 2. Personally, I think that this pacifist ending is fine, it does feel a little weird that Sans is very quick to suddenly become a better person though. But hey, if future sections will have good endings just like this, then I think this ending will fit in a lot more with the rest of the game.

I appreciate the idea of making Sans "redeemable" to fall in line with Underfell's gimmick of redeeming monsters as you go, but it's not NEARLY as compelling as the evil GG!Sans we had. Sometimes people are too sunken into the corrupt mindsets and systems surrounding them, and can't be redeemed or changed. Sans could've been an example of that.

I like this ending because the pacifist route in Underfell is about redeeming the monsters, and I know that ggsans looks very bad as a person but if we use that logic Asgore killed 6 children and in the end he didn't even want to absorb human souls and ggsans only killed monsters to win love and take a human soul to end everything at once and also the underfell monsters also kill which makes this ending fit well. I saw the second (sans escaped) ending as kind of unnecessary but I like that Susi and Noelle remember that the player is doing that and that they haven't made the same mistake as when they left Kris to his fate to fight Doge and Dogaresa, They could have made them refuse to fight but help Kris by healing him or something... also the "susi acting devious" is a bit unnecessary but that's a personal opinion. Finally I heard people saying that ggsans is very edgy when we kill it but that depends on the person.

There's 2 types of Fell in this fandom: 1. Monsters in it dress red and insult everyone but are softies and often just ship material for weirdos. 2. Every monster has to be ruthless in order to survive because showing sympathy to others or being weak is a "beat up/mug/rob/kill" sign to others. I wish they tried to stay more in character. Sans completely cracking and snapping out of his madness through a single dialogue is kind of weird and out of character considering that he is a complete pillar of fury on the surface. If you had to do special interactions or defeat him in a special way to achieve the new ending I guess everything would be way more justified. Or they could have just kept old sleep ending but altered dialogue maybe do it like the second one in the video but different dialogue, papyrus appears, better hope for sans changing? Him doing a 180 on screen is just... weird to me considering that he wants to rip the soul out of a child yet he doesn't have guts to kill another.

You do not know how much I despise this update. The dialouge is so painfully corny now, "erm lets just say shes one with the wind now haha" "you k- k- KILLED her?!??!" I loved how old sans was straight to the point, not implying he killed her, just straight up says that he killed her and takes pleasure in doing so. This update turned him from an unredeemable monster to a classic "guys he didnt actually kill her because he had a bit of good left in him and can still be redeemed :)" type of character. I know none of us have any say whatsoever about what a creator wants to do with her own project, but the writing style of sans feels so out of character for Sarah's usual writing style, I genuinely dont know what was her thought process when rewriting him.

I don't think this is completely bad. It's just a bit... sudden? I feel like a better way to handle GGFell!Sans's redemption would've been to keep the old pre-fight dialogue, maybe add a few more lines saying something like, "unfortunately, i couldn't see her fully turn to dust. don't want to bring too much attention to myself." Then, for the new ending, Sans could mention wanting to end the world to end the torment, as shown here. However, instead of Sans having a 180 in personality immediately, Papyrus would appear earlier and have a similar speech, pointing out that Sans only became part of the problem he's trying to solve, getting Sans to apologize to him and potentially reluctantly apologize to the Delta Warriors. Sans's battle sprite would also stay red, indicating the less drastic nature of this change. Susie would still be upset with Sans at the end. That's the best way I can see a redemption arc for Sans happening, at least if it has to happen in Section 3.

Honestly? I think the new ending kinda ruins the whole bit about 'what if you really find a relentless killer' that Fell Sans fit into. Out of all of the monsters in the Underfell AU, it made sense that Sans would be the one too dead-set in his beliefs to turn on them suddenly. The problem is, that's... exactly what happens here. It's way too sudden to make any sense, the guy who literally admits he killed an orphan and reveled in it completely goes back on everything after you give him a few stern words. He should have stayed as the exception to the rule.

Could’ve been gradual, like you question his motivations more and more throughout the section, and during the boss fight you question and scrutinize him and his goals even further, until he gets enough self-awareness to realize that this wasn’t worth it, and maybe his sprites would just be a duller red instead of instantly turning back to normal instead. I think people didn't understand the real meaning of UnderfellGG's Sans. From what I understand in this AU, it takes place in a universe where the files were altered, generating a change throughout the world, where an anomaly existed in this world and corrupted characters like Toriel or Papyrus. In other words, if Sans was corrupted, that means he was never truly evil, and even if he was, it was clear he was meant to be a broken character. He only realized that he did everything wrong after disappointing everyone, getting rid of this anomaly that corrupted him. Sans was never a complete villain with no chance of redemption, he was a broken antagonist who was corrupted by a force much greater than himself. So Darth Vader and Arthur Morgan can have their redemption in peace, but Sans, who was never even evil, can't? Why? cuz he killed children? All the previous characters also killed, and even though they weren't the best people, they were entitled to redemption. Why don't Undertale fans stop and think about this for a second?

Honestly I would have liked that this changes only aplied in a pacifist route as this pretty much gives a player with little to no background an insentive to continue doing what they are doing as in the end it is the right thing to do while on obliteration it could be a simbolism that mirrors his past actions and would somehow have an negative effect on this world. Plus sparing sans would allow you to get the og ending which would allow you to hear papyrus side of the story. In retrospective I felt that the section 3 was all about 2 things facing the travelers with a whole new universe and showing how little control susie and noelle have over us in obliteration as we were facing murders the height of our kills were not as heavy as humans and children. Tldd edgy susie is not cool.

It feels weird to make GG sans have this sudden epiphany. I feel like more notes could be taken from Undyne in the OG undertale. Remember when you gave her the water? She just walks off, but you know you planted some kind of seed in her mind. I feel like it would be a more effective twist if Sans turned out to just be bluffing about "watching the life drain" from Noelle's eyes. The dialogue leading up to the battle feels rather defanged in comparison to the older dialogue, since it sets up ambiguity way too early in, making the fight feel less like a true moral dilemma. I loved how heartless fell sans in this game felt, but there was still just enough beyond the surface to maybe indicate that something wasn't what it seemed. I'd keep these endings for the most part, but i'd definitely change the dialogue leading up to it back to how it used to be, though perhaps with some extra polish here and there.

Yeah, i honestly agree with the comments here, the changes are very clunky and the pacifist ending is especially badly written. Honestly, a better version of it would be Papyrus interrupting the fight, getting injured in the process. Sans, seeing Papyrus begging him to not harm us even with a life-threathening injury, breaks out of his feral state and calls off the fight to (attempt to) heal him. No remorse for his previous victims, no regrets over his previous actions, he just makes us an exception for his brother's sake, with Susie making that fact very clear before we go through the door.

Ironically, despite loving and adoring the way this is written, I felt the “this has to be something deeper” nature kept GG Sans’s personality interesting, this just sort of laid all the cards out on the table and thus there’s very little interest in the actual GG Underfell series’s sans since we now know his deal and have seen him go the full extent to being spared instead of just being left off in a very intentionally unceremonious way to have his true development and motivations be shown in the real series, likely when getting to the Judgement Hall going the full way here is a double edged sword but now is something that can’t be undone unless this is retconned or something different is done that isn’t sparing sans and making him non malicious

I also really prefer the new short and sour approach of the Genocide Ending for Sans' dialogue more, even if it was overly edgy, it still works, because it's the start of a deteriorating story.

If they wanted "character depth", they should've made the change _gradual._ Also that pre-battle dialogue? Dry as a desert. What isn't okay, though, is _character assassination._ As someone who's got years of creative writing experience under his belt... What the actual hell were the devs going for here? What was it? What? I'd love to hear it, because all I'm seeing is a trainwreck. I _need_ to know if they didn't just fuck up one of the most impactful moments in the game.

Or _even better yet,_ Dio Brando/DIO from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. _Those_ are irredeemable villains that didn't really need that much depth to be good villains. They were just evil. That's it. Nothing's bad about having a simple evil guy every once in a while. GG!Fell Sans not only didn't _need_ that whole """redemption""" thing, the devs also pulled it off in the absolute worst way imaginable. We went from writing comparable to the actual Deltarune _and_ Undertale, (for the most part,) to a generic Wattpad ship story level sob story. If you're gonna have a bastard be redeemable, make it believable. Don't go the Disney route like Sarah did here.

Personally I don't mind this update. Sure some people may not like it but I personally was a little unsatisfied with simply sparing him by using Sleep Mist.
