Welcome to my in-depth tutorial on the Roland MC-707, focusing on the advanced technique of wave scanning using the mod matrix.
In this video, we'll guide you through the process of wave scanning, a powerful method for creating evolving textures and tones, by skillfully manipulating the MC-707's modulation matrix.
Whether you're a seasoned producer or new to the world of grooveboxes, this tutorial will unlock new creative possibilities, showing you step-by-step how to navigate the interface and assign modulation sources and destinations.
Get ready to elevate your sound design skills and add unique, dynamic layers to your music with the ‪@rolandglobal‬ MC-707.
Here is the link to download the 2 clips mentioned in the video. I also added the 2 Tones that were demonstrated in the video as clips as well.
www.dropbox.co...
Put these clip files in the TONE folder inside of the CLIP folder found in the GROOVEBOX folder of your SD card. If there isn't a Clip or Tone folder present on the SD Card, Create a CLIP folder in the GROOVEBOX folder. Then inside the CLIP folder, create a TONE folder. This is where the Tone clips will be held. If you are sharing clips of Drum Tracks, be sure to make a DRUM folder in the CLIP folder. If you are unsure of this procedure, check out the beginning of the video linked below.
They contain Init Tones with the partials split between velocity ranges. The first has no fade between ranges, creating abrupt changes when cycling through the partials. the second file has fade applied to the ranges, creating smoother transitions between partials.
Use these clips on the 101 or 707 by simply loading the clip to an empty slot on a tone track. Then, activate and choose a waveform for each oscillator in the Shift+Sound edit menu.
Partial velocity ranges are as follows:
PMT 1: 1-31
PMT 2: 32-63
PMT 3: 64-95
PMT 4: 96-127

I’ve watched a few times, and I am not catching how you’ve achieved the partials fading as you scan the waves.
@UnitE808
@UnitE808 8 ай бұрын
You must go into the area where you separate the partials into velocity ranges. There is a fade option for lower and upper. Make those values a few numbers higher and lower than the range numbers

Great vid! Is there a way to scan or sweep through the same way on a single drum pad? And assign it to a knob so you can manually sweep through the 4 drums or samples you put in?

@@UnitE808 Thanks for trying! Yes I’d actually had a go myself and couldn’t make it work, but was hoping you might be able to. It’s such a shame as there’s so much that could be done with that!

why does the second line of pads go from left to right, regularly following in order from 'c' to 'g' and then again from 'a' to 'c'?
