The wheelchair stall - I don't think it's reserved for wheelchair users. When I was 9 months pregnant I absolutely needed the bars to help me up and down from the toilet seat. And there are certainly hidden disabilities where people could really need the bars or extra space. But if I walked into a bathroom at the same time as a wheelchair user, they definitely should use the stall for them, not me lol

In regards to the vinyl topic - streaming services may be "better" and more convenient for the consumer, but it actually benefits the creator the least; for example, I get paid about $0.005 cents per stream on Spotify. Purchasing vinyls, CDs, etc. is a much better way to support your favorite artist!
@itszodiaczero

And, they stand the test of time. There have been several albums that I listened to on streaming, bought the vinyl because I’m a collector, and then later the album is removed from streaming, for one reason or another. Now I get to fully support the artist, and I get to listen to the album for the rest of my life, no matter what happens with the services. 🎶

Regarding the accessible stall, I work in architecture in Canada and the way the building code is phrased is that accessible stalls are required. These stalls make up a certain percentage of the total number required. We don't estimate an expected number of disabled occupants in order to determine how many accessible stalls to provide, you work out the total number of occupants and provide x amount of toilets, out of which a small percentage are required to be accessible. Even in places of work where being able bodied is a job requirement, you will find an accessible stall. The stalls aren't therefore "reserved". I'll leave it up to everyone's common sense whether or not to use it.

I like vinyl for the mindfulness factor. If I'm having a particularly stressful week, it can be nice to play some records. I have to pay more attention to it than I do to whatever is on Spotify. To add to the coffee versus tea conversation, to me, both plain coffee and plain tea taste disgustingly bitter and that’s the only thing I can taste. 😅 I only learned through trial and failure of different ways to sweeten/add other condiments to each and curating the best taste for myself in both (with tea of course depending on the flavour)… on top of that it’s perfectly fine if someone just likes the bitterness of black coffee or tea without any additions because every one’s taste buds are different. 🤷🏻‍♀️ all these debates about people bashing other people for liking the food or drink that they don’t is stupid to me😅😅 not to mention our tastebuds change every seven years or so so what you like or don’t like now will definitely change in a few years anyway🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

For the McDonalds one, they prioritize orders by drive thru, pick up, and then the actual people in the restaurant. It’s because they assume that if you are going inside the restaurant, then you have some time to waste instead of going in the drive-thru because most do drive thru and pick up for the fast speed. But then you have people inside the restaurant waiting like 10mins to just place their order and then another 10 for their food.

People in wheelchairs banging on stall doors: This actually happened to me! I was a kid, like 10 years old, and we were at a museum. The line for the restroom was super long, so when it was my turn and the accessible stall was open, I used it. Then an adult woman came down the aisle in her wheelchair and banged on the door, demanding I get out, incidentally blocking anyone in the other two stalls from getting out (it was a barely handicap accessible space). She yelled and yelled at me. I didn't argue back because I was a kid but it didn't make sense to me that a stall should just stay empty when there was such a long line. BUT I would say there are people who abuse the wheelchair stall by using when they know they're pooping aka going to take longer, or they change clothes in there and block use for the wheelchair user.

I think on one hand people should realize that invisible disabilities are a thing and there will be people who need to use disabled toilets, will use disabled toilets, but won't "look disabled" (I've seen some pretty nasty videos "calling out" people who "don't look disabled", but well, most disabilities are invisible). But I don't think non-disabled people should use these toilets (besides having a real emergency and no other possible toilet nearby), because some of the disabilities that people need to use these toilets for may have something to do with incontinence and similar conditions, so even though I'm disabled myself, if I could wait for a brief moment to go to another toilet, I would because there may be someone else disabled who really needs to go in urgently and cannot just casually wait until someone else - especially someone else who doesn't need it atm - is done.

At certain times of the month, I will only ever use the accessible stall because it’s usually the only one with a sink included in the stall. Just in case, because I would hate to have to go out and then wash my hands in the common area if anything went wrong. Especially when everyone has to touch that lock… Honestly, I think every stall should be wide enough, have a sink, and - for when you have a back injury - one of those bars to help you up. The place I rent used to have elderly people before us and wow - that bar next to the toilet is amazing. Sincerely, started rowing at 13 with years of bad form, and now suffering the consequences.

MacDonald's has a sensor at their drive thru windows to detect how long a car is waiting in the drive thru. corporate gives them two minutes per car or something like that. so getting the customers to park while they cook the food keeps corporate from demoting that restaurant etc. also I think it's a safety thing, having a rando at your window for 15 minutes seems less safe to the workers than asking them to park and bringing out the food.

With the bigger stall that's handicap accessible, it's also usually the stall with the baby changer in it for moms. And even when the kid is young and you both need to go to the bathroom, it's easy to use as a family stall instead of sending your potty training kid into a small stall alone, or both mom and child trying to squeeze into small stalls. It's definitely not ONLY for handicap people. Imo

In regards to online ordering at places like Starbucks, it depends on if you place your order for a future pickup time or ASAP. Either way Starbucks gives you a time range i.e. 10-12 minutes with an estimated pick up time for your mobile order. In regards to the vinyl / multiple versions of albums opinion, I think having the music in multiple formats is a matter of having different experiences. As someone who collect multiple versions of albums/CDs (Kpop is a master at this), each physical album has the same songs, but different photos, color schemes, and sometimes are even constructed uniquely. Yes, multiple album versions can inflate numbers, but it can also show people who want to support an artist (just listening online), want to have a physical representation (own one version), and someone who want the entire experience (owning all versions). I also think putting on a CD and having the music come from a speaker instead of in headphones gives a different quality in user-experience, along with hearing the songs in the order the artist wanted to place them instead of whatever order you chose for your playlist :)

Ok but hear me out, vinyl is a perfect pomodoro timer, each side is about 20-22 minutes, and you have to get up and flip or change it, so no matter what you have to get up and get the blood flowing. Also, also, i like hearing which songs are more worn out on my parents on their old albums because they played them the most.

About McDonalds: I live in Europe (Poland) and it's so bizarre to me that drive through order can take 15 minutes! I have never been asked to pull over and wait, I was just given food at the drive through spot. UK here. I'm from a family of 6 we pretty much always have to pull over but thats understandable cos of the scale of our order. We are ordering 10 burgers etc. I think people are too impatient these days. I was in burger king and someone started asking me how long I was waiting and complaining I immediately told him I order a unusual item so it usually has to be made fresh so it's understandable that I have to wait, when I got my order they were apologising for the wait because of this guy, they did everything as quick as they could and some poor hard worker felt bad because some random guy was complaining about how long I WAS WAITING
@jadziajan
@jadziajan Жыл бұрын
Yeah. As much as I dislike McDonald's, I'm tempted to empathise with the original poster. Fifteen minutes IS a lot more than what is expected from a fast food place. If quick service is the only reason you enjoy McDonald's, and they don't do that anymore, then maybe there is no reason left to go. Fifteen minutes is what can be expected if the place is full or your order is large, but not the basis, at least in my experience, also in Europe.

As a former barista at Starbucks, the little stickers with orders get printed in the order they were received. Say someone placed a mobile order at 8:49:59, and you placed an in-person order at 8:50:00, then the mobile order will print first and we will make it first. It’s a little more convoluted during rush hours and depends on a type of drink, but that’s the general rule of thumb if how we make drinks. We don’t think about the “order” in which we received the orders, but trying not to mess up making 2-3 drinks at the same time lol

In regards to starbucks orders: I saw some others saying the tickets come in as ordered, which is true, so if you're ordering 10 other people can have ordered online before your order goes into the system. Along with this though I have seen very high traffic downtown locations in my area prioritize easier to make drinks like a regular coffee or tea because they will go out faster and then they can focus on harder things. So that adds to the wait times as well for in-store customers if many mobile orders are more simple than the in-store orders.

With the influencer advertising, for me I think it’s less about the fact that they are getting paid, and more that if I see something over and over again I’m more likely to find it annoying. so if I see an advertisement for a product that multiple people are advertising, I’m not gonna wanna buy that product. Even with normal ads, if I see it over and over again, it doesn’t become more tempting, it turns me off to the product in general.

I’m guessing tea parlors have more tea purists and connoisseurs as customers compared to an average home tea drinker or a combined coffee/tea drinker. I feel like I often run into the sentiment that anything but milk at least just should not be added to tea, that even people who don’t really like or drink tea think I’m weird for doing it. Sometimes also this kind of elitist sounding thing of like oh you’re ruining it with the milk, your tastes aren’t sophisticated enough to appreaciate tea properly (you get this same thing with coffee snobs as well). For me I feel like I taste the different flavors better when I add milk because it cuts the bitterness that overpowers the other flavors. Another thing that could be a big factor is the country you’re in, different countries have different norms around tea.

As someone who used to work at McDonalds(in Canada), what order we make first is literally just in order of when the order was received. If we were backed up in the restaurant or drive thru for example sometimes the management will make the executive decision to let the delivery orders wait a little longer and focus in person. But for the most part it's first ordered, first served.

Vinyl is a bit different to other trends as its mainstream revival has lasted nearly a decade now and is very popular (it hasn't been a 'hipster' thing for years). There's appeal to the experience, but also as a collectable and almost like art. The simplicity of just putting on a physical album can definitely be nice in a world of overwhelming choice.
