It's really telling about mom's character. She's willing to draw a line in the sand about "biological children," and of course, the suspected homophobia, but absolutely willing to take money from them. It's a one way prejudice. You're not good enough to get anything from me, but you're plenty good enough to give a hundred grand to me. She would be totally cut off, never get a cent or a kind word. I mean, what does OP have to lose? Her inheritance, which won't exist? Heck, if OP had just kept the money all those years, and the years until mom dies, they'd have a heck of a start on a retirement, and a nice house of their own.

Nope. If mom wants the house to go to her real grandchildren, that is her wish. I completely agree with stop giving her money. Stop everything. Stop having the children see her. Story 1: NTA. I would like to say, though, that if it _is_ dementia, that means the years of OP's mother doting on her adopted grandkids could still be genuine, I think. She could have had those problematic viewpoints years ago, but then gotten over them as she got to know her daughter's wife and her adopted grandkids. Perhaps the dementia is causing her to lose track of the lessons she learned that changed her opinions. This, in turn, would cause her old opinions to come back.

Story 1. The thing with Biological children runs deep in the older generations. My own father devided he assets into two half's one to each of my sisters with the proviso they if the older died prior to him then it would all go to the other one. Older sister had two daughters from her husbands first wife so not her blood, second sister has one child of her own. His rational was that sister one had no offspring and sister two had offspring so the blood line continued. Pretty weird but like this mother putting blood against reality adopted children are just as much children of the family. Good on OP for stopping the gravy train regardless of dementia this was cruel.

Story 1: NTA and I honestly would stop helping. 90%?! You put a lot of time and money into that house for her to give it to your sister. Sure, you don't need it, but that still feels like a slap in the face after all you have done (and all your sister hasn't, done). "Mom is upset with me saying it's petty and greedy of me to ask for money from someone who doesn't make as much as we do when we could afford it." That's gaslighting. SHE'S being greedy, demanding you pay for everything concerning her house, and seeing nothing in return. That you can afford it is a moot point; it also sounds like sister could afford to pay half just fine. Mom and sister don't want the gravy train to stop. "She said she wanted her money to go to her real grandchildren and not to our children, who are adopted." But it's not her money anymore, is it? YOU'VE been financially supporting her with your money, not hers; the only reason she still owns that house is because you've been footing the bills. Tell her she owes you 120k plus interest then, and see how long she can stay in that house. Maybe she can move in with your sister and her "real grandchildren." I'm absolutely fuming right now. Story 2: She's not his mom anymore, she disowned him by kicking him out. She can't have it both ways. You've been his parent for the last three years, and done a better job parenting in that amount of time than they did in 16 years. She doesn't get to walk back in after you worked to fix all the problems she's caused, and create more problems in his life. She's also being selfish in not caring what he wants and what is best for him. Story 3: NTA, and the pair on him to cheat on you, move in with his mistress, and then call *you* inappropriate for working with his friend! He may feel like you're taking the job from his mistress, but you need to feed your child, especially since he stopped paying because he's butthurt you found out he was cheating. Fuck him (or don't fuck him), take the job, and sue for child support if your child is also his.

Mark, I read a lot of these reddit post channels and the ones I tend to subscribe to, like and comment on are the ones that have stories with updates....it's super frustrating to read a story, be invested in it and then not know what happened...just saying...so...more stories with edits and updates:}

1. NTA. Why are you paying for a house that is not yours and will be gifted to someone else. You either get your name on mortgage or you stop paying for the house.

Story 1. I hate parents like this. Mom can't afford the house, she cant live there. Sisters does nothing to help, but will reap all the rewards. This happens ALL the time. Sorry, NTA. Mom and sister are wrong.

May the heat of the Waffle Maker feed you when you're cold I had to turn my heater in last night. I am NOT happy. Be safe, take care of yourself and have a great day.

Story 1. I'm sorry what? How can dementia be an excuse. Does dementia cause someone to forget how to be a good person? I don't see what was said that would indicate dementia.
@Norienful3 жыл бұрын
Dementia does in fact sometimes cause major personality changes. However, that doesn't mean that a) it is dementia b) it doesn't hurt like hell and is unacceptable to hear sth like that
@wheelsndealz3 жыл бұрын
@@Norienful yeah, no doubt. And obvious the family would know her better than any commenter, but it didn't sound like anything said was more likely to be dementia. It's just an easier excuse than realizing their mom is a bitch.

Wonders how one maintains out a house? A like a much love, I'll definitely watch later. We're making preparation for replacement of a leaking water heater (more of a wep than a drip thankfully). This is why I bahumbug the holidays without fail something ALWAYS happens this time of year... on the plus side I have something to turn in to a diy steamroller to unleash on Katie 😈

Story 2 Just wondering if the "parents" are paying child support to OP. If his handicap is so severe that he can not function as an adult, my cynical mind thinks..... Op's mum would receive benefits and extended child support from ex if she gets him back.

It could certainly be dementia but it could also be an asshole hiding their true self. One of my disowned family members hid their true self for over two decades and acted nice to my mum’s face then talking evil shit behind her back. There’s even letters where she said she didn’t care about my mum and her “problems” but demanded my mum listen to her drama, almost predatory problems. She said that she only wanted my mum around to be her personal taxi (too much of a lazy fuck to get her license) and buy her stuff. I found out as an adult, gave her the finger, told her to fuck off and she better not ask me for money or I’ll make her life a living hell. Some people are just selfish and evil.

Normally I'm doing normal house work or school work while watching your videos. Not today. My SO came into the house bleeding with a [insert graphic details] cut on his hand. Logically the person going to school to work with dead people is the optimal doctor. Had to pace around the house from the bathroom to the kitchen getting everything to fix his hand up. Once I got everything and was preparing to bandage it up he asks me to use new skin, the area was too big for it and it would have hurt like a bitch to apply to it, he got a water proof bandage with threat to not get hurt again.

I really dislike the word " fault". I feel like it's used to often and used for an excuse. Oh well, have a good weekend!
