I pray that the goat survives ❤ . Might I suggest a game camera to eye spy on the dogs and goats just for added security anyway. We have some up for our Chicken run area and our Meat bird area as well. Just a thought to consider so you keep an eye on what the dogs are actually doing. We have Racoons that roam around where we live (Eastern) Washington State . Love the progress on the property.... Things take time . Good luck to Gary on his Hunt 🙏 Have a great day.

Great explanation on the dogs. I appreciate it. It must be hard not knowing exactly what happened. At least not knowing for me, would be so hard. Yet we can't know everything. As I said before Prayers for Ellie she seems like a great goat. Finding the balance and the special jobs for all the dogs where they are happy too.

Yes hard water will damage your hair. Perms, coloring. You need a malibu treatment. You can get them at sallys or have your stylist do it. It takes the orange out of your hair. ❤❤

Enjoyed your video. Please please don’t be to hard on yourself , I’ve felt with an issue like that only my dog ( tea cup) passed away . I felt horrible for a long time , but what I learned Iyou can’t be in all places at all times and accidents happen that’s why they are called accidents take care. Your kiddos are growing so much 😊

I’ve had experience with dogs & livestock and I would think if it was Luna, there would be blood evidence somewhere on her. Both of those parts of the body are highly vascular . Glad EM is showing improvement 👍👏

You could try using the smallest rods to perm Scarlett's hair. I have very fine hair and it looks like Scarlett does too. That's the only way my hair would hold a perm.

Happy to hear the goat is doing well. I also have a husky and completely understand your situation. My husky would eat my chickens n rabbits if he could but the correction collar really helps. He's a love and a great protector. Don't be too hard on yourself. People get dogs before they get to know and understand the breed. Luna is special and it's in her blood. Just like my boy kavik. I will not get into it, but I can tell you Luna is a sweet animal true, but as ayou say, animals are animals, and we cant always be there to catch their every move and they do things they shouldnt. Mel, you’re absolutely right! There are conditions such as prolapsed; anus, hemorrhoids, uterus, bladder, pelvic organs, etc.… If your vet can’t explicitly state the exact cause of her injury then it really could be caused by something natural or it is possible a dog attacked her. Remember the goats were a little rambunctious when they were unloaded. Wasn’t it Ellie who was a little aggressive towards the other animals which could have caused a reaction from one or more of the dogs? It’s also possible that her anus was already damaged and prolapsing? Every animal has a propensity to attack. It’s part of their nature. It’s in their nature to hunt, protect and survive in the wild. To re-home or euthanize an animal for this reason is ridiculous. However, by that same token, there are ‘justifiable’ reasons for re-homing or euthanizing. No one really knows what happened but It’s strange that the dogs/goats didn’t go crazy barking and screaming that someone would have heard something. Redirecting Luna into a new job and area is a great decision on your part 👍!

Huskys really don't make great livestock gaurdian dogs. I was hoping Louis and Layla would help her do that better. YOU CAN'T BLAME YOURSELF. There is no way to know how a dog will react to a situation until they are in that situation.

The snell of the uterine prolapse smells like wounded prey. Luna couldn’t have done that, but the smell would bring the herd protector out in her, IF Luna damaged her, her priority is to get rid of that smell for the benefit of the heard. It could be also why she was chulled from the other herd because she tends to prolapse

I had a Husky that grew up with cats and would play with them.....until she got to big and didn't know her own strength...then she thought she was playing...but the cat ended up unalive....sad fact...they are alot of the time just playing and don't realize that they are too big for that

Great to hear Ellie May is up and around. I'm sure she won't have to go #2 very much until her appetite is back. Glad she is nearing the end of the critical mark. You're such a great pet owner. Things happen and that's how you learn and make changes, you've owned the situation and are moving forward. The kids have learned so much with this incident that they would take years to learn in school. Proud of your channel and taking us along with you and your family Mel. They didn't do that either on purpose they don't know their own strength when it comes to a cat they were all playing that was another at unfortunate accident That's not in a husky's breed but they will protect that is in their breed but with the cats I think they were just playing and they played too rough we talked about that a long time ago

Glad Ellie is doing better however Luna was being territorial because Ellie is pregnant it's part of what female huskies do it's part of them trying to establish dominance that is why she was fine with the other goats and then this happened with Ellie it sucks but it's normal please don't beat yourself up and don't listen to the negativity she's still an amazing loving dog

I am so glad to hear that Ellie Mae is doing better and eating. I was thinking about what you said regarding the fact that she may be pregnant. What if she had a miscarriage and as the baby was coming out, a dog grabbed it and tore it out of her, causing the issue. I have even read where other goats will even eat baby goats. But more likely a dog. Like I said, this is only a guess, but it could explain what happened. Of course, only God really knows what happened.

I don’t mean this to be offensive to you all, but I have often wondered why it seems like many of the “framily” have so many dogs and cats. It’s costly and not practical to give each of them daily attention. Just my thoughts, not my expectation for any of you. I do appreciate that you all definitely care well for your pets. Dogs and cats can be very helpful on the homestead. They are good for alerting to intruders. Also, without cats, mice soon get out of control! 😊

I’m all for having a pet and a working dog, but just think 4 and more is too many. Food, vet bills and other related expenses and I wouldn’t be able to feed myself. But I’m not finding fault with them, just trying to understand the purpose. Bark on…. 😊

We had 3 senior dogs when we moved here. After about a year of being in AR we got Luna. Then last year Louie and Layla (and their brother Ghost that CRC have) was dumped in our woods and left to die. There are no shelters in our area. We decided to keep them. We have plenty of room and love to go around. 💚

Your explanation of what might have happened is interesting. The prolapse issue is not something I would have thought of. Maybe it was not a dog attack, that supports my question why there wasn’t any cuts/punctures on Luna. I’m presuming Luna is the alpha dog. Ellie Mae is definitely the alpha goat. I wonder if two different animal alphas can co- exist. Something to think about. Perhaps there is training. You sure don’t want a repeat episode. I know you will figure it out. Hang in there! ❤

Little Scarlet is Melanie’s clone ❤. Adorable, all the kids are. 😊 It’s important to do things for your self. Your children are learning from your examples and if you take good care of yourself, then they will learn to care for themselves as adults. But you probably already know that. If you have color in your hair then use Olaplex while getting your perm. If you have henna on your hair please don’t perm it! It will literally burn your hair off.

If it had been one of your dogs wouldn't there have been bloody evidence on them? Their face or shoulders? When you first told us about something hanging out of her I thought of a prolapse. You know how dogs always smell of every animal's butts. So if she had a prolapse they might naturally lick & heal up that area? So sad it got bad. Happy she is responding to the meds & is better.

Plus maybe Scarlett can't hold a permanent as she'd like because of the well water also like your hair colorist said for your dyeing of your hair? Where's Wyatt been? Is he and Lilly at your Mom's? I know you & Wyatt are happy Ant and Rox are coming home soon. Some semblance of normal again. Thank you for addressing this Ellie Mae attack again, to get a clear understanding of what's going on with he, I made a comment at the time myself that it could be Luna or your new male goat that damaged your goats intestines and colon. Thinking it would be best for your family to adopt out the guilty animal. My first instinct was that it was the new male goat because they were fighting for dominance of who's going to be the alpha. I'm happy it wasn't Luna. I can see now why Luna & Eclipse her sister never get to be around one another any longer. Maybe allow a play date in a tightly enclosed fencing area without any cats around. Thanks again for being great dog parents and defending your girl Luna. I support you 110% on what to do with Ellie May with the new goats. ❤
