Bought my dad a '79 version of a sorta kinda similar truck in '85. Plainer version with a 6 cylinder and three on the tree but very similar interior. He loved that thing, had always wanted a truck. Unfortunately, when he passed in '91 I did not stop my mother from selling his truck. Lots of emotions and all that. I am so glad he had the truck for 6 years. Wish I had it now. The Big Ten, was basically known as a heavy half ton. GMC built a similar version they called The Gentleman Jim. It was a heavy package with overload springs and a towing package that you could order with the Sierra Grande, which was the GMC equivalent of the Silverado.

The GMC version was called Heavy Half. They had a sticker that read "Heavy Half" in place of the "Big Ten" sticker use on the Chevrolets. Both of those were RPO code F44. That option was available with any box configuration, IE, long or short bed and including the step sides. I currently own a '78 Chevy Custom Deluxe short step side that is has the F44 Big Ten option. The GMC "Gentleman Jim'' and the GMC "Beau James" were limited edition appearance package options only available in 1975. Those options could have possibly come standard with the RPO code F44, but I'm not definite on that.

My first truck was a 1983 GMC Sierra Custom, 2 tone paint scheme, fully loaded, power everything, came with a 6.2 liter diesel which had a descent pulling power but sure was a dog on the quickness. Ran her for 150,000 before I threw a rod thru the block. I rebuilt it and ran it as a work truck for 10 more years after that. Finally sold her after that and even though she was a bit rusty and worn, some guy scooped that truck up faster than I could write for sale on it. I loved that truck. It rode awesome and I sure would like another one just like it. The truck in this video, even though a 1980 was just about enough to make me drool. She is a gorgeous truck. Well done. Btw, does this one have the high beam button on the floor operated by your left foot? I always loved that as well.

You can keep from hitting the glass with the spray by spraying the cloth then wipe the dash instead of spraying the cloth. Also noticed looks like you were using a microfiber for that. It works better if you use a cloth that doesn’t absorb as much for that use such as a old t-shirt.

Derek: I love these square bodies! Had a 1974 metallic orange camper special! Another vehicle I wrenched on , as I told you about my 67 Pontiac Fire- chicken! I touched every bolt on that truck rebuilt every thing on that truck! Was able to get a camper shell that had all the windows blown out of it, with no rear opening. I was working at a body shop at the time was able to do all the work on it there, it was one of my perks! The other body man and I were life long friends with the owner and his extended family, we were all like minded people! And all part of the extended family it was a great situation! I ended having to get a new big block , long block crate engine from our Chevy Jobber, dealership that we purchased all our parts through back in the day which was around 1980, it cost me $2,400.00 . About a year previous it needed a new trans so it was all pretty fresh! Had it for years till I pretty near wore out! We also was able to purchase a used 19 ft travel trailer that we were able to fix up! Wore that out ! We all started an off road club called So-Cal off road , we had a blast raising three daughters it was about the time when Honda had come out with the three wheelers , then the quads we wore everything out! Lots of maintenance but a great time a lot of kids don’t know what they are missing today stuck in the house with virtual game playing so I enjoy watching you work on these vehicles and doing it with your family! It’s a good thing for Fellers and Fellet’s to do with their family’s! Keep up the good work ! Regards From a retired ol wrencher, Mad Mike S.

Detailing guy here. I clean the glass after I do the dash.

Yep, always save the glass for last. Otherwise you'll have a bad time.

He's hooked on Sprayaway the same as I am. I think half the reason I like that stuff because it smells the same as the automatic car wash did when I was a kid.

Just wanted to say sprayway has been the glass cleaner of choice of glass professionals for over thirty years that I know of... Their crazy clean surface cleaner was popular with a few trucking companies too! Now the glass cleaner is available at Dollar general... Most Silverados got tilt/cruise and power windows as well as everything you mentioned. The good old days when you went to the dealer and line itemed the options you wanted, and omitted the ones you didn't. I still remember waiting on my dad's 79' custom deluxe he spec'd to come in to our local dealer!
