Plasma cut the Xtreme plasma-logo from some steel and use it as a stencil to sand/glass blast the logo to the raw aluminium on the tank

Liking how this is coming together - except the bit of builders strapping holding the mudguard, Is that what it looks like to others too? Looks out of place altogether. I think it's the round holes, maybe it should be slotted instead of round holes? Or maybe even the logo cut into them?
@whatnowstinky4 жыл бұрын
I was thinking loose them all together and cut a spine that runs up the length of the mud guard with a second mounting point at the top frame brace. Either slotted to match the frame or with the X-treme Plazma logo. Maybe twin spines even.
@terencehawkes39334 жыл бұрын
Nice exhaust tips! I love that their matte finish matches that of the tank. Nice touch! Good work on the rear fender bead too! I was just thinking about what colour you should paint the frame. Since you are building this bike to show off the capabilities of Xtreme Plasma, you might think about using a strong colour to show up that gorgeous plasma-cut frame. A searingly bright red would do that. Anyway, it is just a thought.
@Sennaxm714 жыл бұрын
It does want to be something that shows off the frame for sure, no point in doing all that work to not show it off eh ;)
@davidpilbeam36444 жыл бұрын
Great progress Matt. I can't help seeing skull shapes as the "lightening holes" in the mudguard stays. Another way to show off the advantages of plasma cutting.
@mitchellmunday41034 жыл бұрын
Coming up well . Have u put any thought into the rear caliper being mounted on the frame . ? When u adjust the chain and move the wheel the caliper won't move with it and line up with the disk properly. Most bikes the caliper moves with the axle

I thought something looked odd about that install.
@phillipembury22713 жыл бұрын
Its a show bike. It'll never do more than a few miles in its life. Regarding frame flex, the same thing applies. The bike is being built to promote a plasma cutting CNC system at shows and expos not to be a daily driver..

So how does the rear brake calliper move backwards to stay with the disc when the chain needs adjusting ?
@Reman19754 жыл бұрын
I think, at the end of the day, and in the big scheme of things............... It won't. :D I'm guessing this bikes pretty much just going to be an expensive show stand prop when it's handed over to Extreme plasma, so I doubt it'll do enough miles under it's own power to ever need the chain adjusting.
@fredericrike59744 жыл бұрын
Matt, I'm sure some M/C mechanic will shoot me in the hoo hah if I get this wrong, but an alternator needs live voltage fed into it before it will ever make a charge- a generator will make juice it it merely turned over. I'm mostly a car guy, but that seemed a sure bet to me! Awesome bike- can't wait to see you ride it!

Hi Matt. I have a feeling the reason you need a battery is because the alternator has an live feed to fire up the coils. Been a long time since I hade one of these so could be wrong. Loving your work .
@alexpringle84664 жыл бұрын
Love your work Matt as always. Would have liked to have seen the rear mudguard match the angular nature of the tank or something of that kidney - I reckon that old one looks a bit out of place now that you’ve done everything else ..
@chrisskelhorn57274 жыл бұрын
Nice one Matt! Those exhaust tips, can you let them revolve for a bit of thrust vectoring? :-) The headlight, can I suggest an outside coffin shape (echoing the fuel tank) with twin bulbs set on above the other for dip and main beam? Lastly, would it be easier to vinyl wrap the tank and rear mudguard? :-)
@philtucker12244 жыл бұрын
Matt, loving this build but I think the thread diameter and internal stud thread length on the footrests is too small and too short for the aluminium to be able take the weight of your feet for very long....bigger and deeper would be more durable in the long run I would say...

Hey Matt, I like everything about that bike apart from the front wheel, I don't know if its the low profile tire or the style of the mag.
@robertnesbitt83654 жыл бұрын

@someonesomewheresomdeday4 жыл бұрын
2 things. I think the tank desperately needs to be a rounder shape. also, it seems like your rear brake bracket is only going to work at one chain length....
@Farlig694 жыл бұрын
Needs to be said but the side stand is on the wrong side - should be on the left. Also with those low pegs & non spring loaded you´re not gonna have much corner clearance.... And little concerning about rear brake caliper being fixed - what happens when you move the back wheel to adjust chain tension or chain length due to gearing changes?
