Here is the stats. Evert played 19 Opens. She reached the QFs of all 19, the semifinals of 17, the finals of 9, and won 6 and has won 89.4%. Serena played 21 Opens. She reached the QFs of 17, the semifinals of 14, the finals of 10, and won 6. She lost twice in the 3rd rd and two other times in the 4th round and has won 88%. Actually Serena had exactly as many early losses before the quarters in this slam,as Evert did in all her Aussies, the French, Wimbledons and the Opens combined. TWO!

It’s just based on match wins . So players that have played the slam for a long time will higher up obviously. But wow the top ten really won a lot of matches . Even Arantxa being 16th is great . She was quite consistent in New York though . 13 years straight if making the 4th Rd or better .
