I’ve smoked almost everyday since I was 15. I’m 23 now. This past two years I’ve been trying to better myself and my relationship with pot. Using it to fall asleep for a number of years as well and still do sometimes. I’ve learned so much from Andrew huberman and can honesty say everything he’s been saying about marijuana is true and I’ve experienced it all myself. It also changed my perspective and makes me conscious of my actions and thoughts, giving me more empathy and compassion. I love marijuana but I know smoking it everyday has cost. Be aware.

Agreed with everything you said here, 37 and outside of 1 year of sobriety have basically been a daily user since I was 16. Anything done in excess is bound to cause issues over time and I'm glad to see that Huberman is getting the word out on the specifics of it. He's taught me a lot since I started watching his videos.

@@StoicJohny yeah it definitely is too young, not much you can do other than what is within your control now. I think it has a lot to do with conditions of relationships and life in general ... As my life has gotten more and more tumultuous (divorce, friends going off deep end, family dysfunction, addiction) weed does not seem to help any of it, long term. I need to take shit head on! I wish I could smoke and go about my day and la Dee da, but I'm feeling the pressure of a life where I have done next to nothing and become nothing and it is maddening. Problem is pain is a part of life. To be pain free is a lie. It becomes easy to over use anything. My mother in law did it and she regretted it when she needed it. Also your denying that the pot you buy in these shops is not what was smoked 20 years ago. They have upped the THC to absurd levels: no wonder there is an over saturation. Use pot like you would any medication/. With caution because it can harm. Why can’t pot people admit this. It’s like anything to much can do more harm. I smoke two puffs a night for 3 weeks then take two weeks off. Use it like I would sleeping pills. Been doing this for 2 years and sleeping great.

As a long-time user, I didn't realize I was in a deep burnout until way later, I started using cannabis to cope with it. It helped lower my stress levels for sure, but it only stabilized them without removing the underlying causes of stress. Now that I'm recovering from burnout, using cannabis is becoming a limitation in recovery. I used to smoke to reduce anxiety and overstimulation, adjusting my doses based on how anxious I felt. However, I've learned that true stress relief can be achieved by stopping cannabis use and implementing proper self-care rituals. If the stressor isn't removed, you stay in the cycle.

Have to share my thoughts here. Been smoking now for about two yrs now. It started for me to help relax from performance anxiety at work and in the bed room. After misfiring with Zoloft, I tried cannabis and I fell in love. Fast forward to this weekend where due to travel, I detoxed for about 24hrs and found myself having an anxiety attack on the ferry ride from Trinidad to Tobago. I tend to microdose to up to smoke smoke throughout the day to help focus with my newly discovered adhd. Without weed, not sure where I would be with depression but I can certainly see the correlation. Different strains help. Scheduling your smokes of course. Therapist is a must. And mental awareness practices.

I wonder what affect culture has on this ... Like here in Alaska it has been legal for a long time, yet there is a huge stigma still in place. People are very comfortable having a cooler full of alcohol and serving stiff drinks, all in front of children, yet if you want to step off to the side and smoke, you'll likely get a lot of side eyes ... It's just still sooo judgmental in our puritanical society. ... There's a lot that comes in to play with these addiction things I spose ... ✌️

I had this anxiety increase start to happen after about 20 years of regular use. Due to other heath concerns I overhauled my diet, focused on mental well being and exercise and the anxiety evaporated. Since the anxiety was being dealt with, my cannabis consumption dropped naturally. The effects were more potent and I felt I needed it less and less. I’m not suggesting regular use has no drawbacks, but don’t blame the butter (or in this case weed) for what the bread did (in my case quite literally bread). Eat clean, pray and meditate, learn new things, hug your loved ones and see how you feel.

It's the same with alcohol abuse. Any time you take something that reduces pain in some way (anxiety being mental pain, for the sake of argument), it makes it more extreme when you finally do experience it. It actually just occurred to me right now that it's probably more accurate to look at tolerance the other way around. You're not building a tolerance to the substance. Instead, by not being exposed to that pain, your sensitivity to it increases. That means that (1) you need higher doses of the substance to stave off the pain, but also (2) when you experience that pain, it's more intense.

2xweek is the problem, I vape cannabis at least 3-4 bowls a day, 1-2 grams. When you're high all the time it just becomes a part of you. Ive been hitting it for over 25 years now and for the past 8 years doing it medically to get past on life stress like neighbors being murdered (I found them dead) and my divorce that has lead me in to being a single parent. Without cannabis in my life I could have not learned how to live again. It helped me eat it helped me smile while listening to music, it is the one drug to use daily if you choose to. Not saying that everybody should do what I did, BUT what I am saying is that I feel great and it is because I have cannabis in my life daily. Oh and I currently am a 43 year old, I started smoking hash at the age of 17, today I just vape, no more smoke.

I can understand that and it’s not for everyone. I believe for those who do smoke it and are well aware of the pros and cons for themselves then it’s a choice and a decision. I myself use it when exercising because too many thoughts come through I can’t focus therefore my workout is not effective. I also use a very good vape and smoke medically because it would be a safer route especially when you don’t know what’s been put into it from the streets and smoking it from bongs, pipes etc are harmful for your lungs. I use to smoke it during my young years it was fun but now that I’m 34 I’m just more careful how I do it now and vape plus medicinal cannabis goes hand to hand

For those who use it to calm down and level themselves out, often with adhd, the anxiety is literally the thing that keeps you out of jail, or killing yourself, it keeps you on track. Sure you can be more lazy or unproductive if you don't have specific goals written down and force yourself to be disciplined but without the anxiety, the impulsiveness takes over, stupid decisions, ignorant outbursts, no fear, wreckless driving to name a few. Unless I'm going to war or I'm doing some extreme sports, the anxiety is to an extent, needed.

Beside the positives I also hurt lots of people during my addiction especially my parents and close friends. In college I didn’t tell anyone I smoked weed which helped me being trusted by my fellow students even though I was always high. They couldn’t tell cause my tolerance was allready through the roof. Now that I’m sober I feel I’m still an addict cause I dream about smoking alot. Feeling excited when I think about smoking another joint. I was born in 1962. I smelled pot on my street when a Vietnam vet a few houses down had parties. I was 8 or 9. I grew up with the belief that it was a cool thing hippies did at concerts and parties. It’s natural! God gave us this wonder HERB, man! I smoked on the weekends in high school, regularly smoking (weekends only) starting around age 14. I got to university, promptly spending the $15 allowance my dad gave me after dropping me off (we lived 8 miles or so from the campus) on a bag of weed. In no time, I was smoking every day, starting in the morning, but making sure my bag got me through the week. I dropped out my second semester of my freshman year, but kept working my work/study job and just partying my ass off. I went to multiple unis part-time, worked, then finally, at age 25 got a full time job at Boston University where I could take 6 credits per semester for free. I worked there for 7 years and finally got my BS. It wasn’t until this year, at the age of 60 that I finally recognized that pot, if taken regularly is highly addictive, and not the harmless drug it’s purported to be. I hit bottom, my detox when I finally quit on January 24, 2023, was sheer hell. It took me nearly 3 months to feel…anything but depressed or anxious. It worries me that pot is so readily available now. I hope young people have the capacity to only use it occasionally, not regularly or every day like I did! The brain doesn’t stop developing until age 25 or so! I have terrible memory problems- especially with long term memory. I think it should be legal. Too many people have been imprisoned for dealing weed. I actually think all recreational drugs should be legal, but just used with caution, NOT regularly! It’s a sticky thing, but I just wish there was more education for people (like this doctor is doing!), so they realize that regular use will destroy your life. Thankfully, I found Marijuana Anonymous and my life is amazing now! Great program- a progressive 12 Step program. I finally found my people! AA didn’t help my Marijuana addiction, at all. ☮️💟🙏

I've been smoking for 15 years. At work I'm always told how calm and how I am not stressed out. They have no idea I smoke everyday.

I don't trust studies more than my own experience. I don't feel any more anxious, after a decade, and I have not noticed a significant tolerance change

I have found in the past several years, that it makes me anxious when I smoke, but more so when I eat edibles. And to counteract it, I have to do something to take my mind off of the anxiety, like playing music or doing some other activity that requires focus. Definitly not sitting around and watching TV or playing video games when I feel like that.

Cannabis is for occasional use, not more than a few times weekly as it creates a tolerance. This is basic. Good video! Same goes for Caffeine, Sugar, Alcohol.

After smoking an eighth a day for years I had to finally quit because I decided I really hated getting panic attacks all the time (among many other reasons). Been sober for 8 months and I haven't had any panic attacks since quitting.

5 months off THC after smoking for 15 years everyday, all day. My anxiety is 99.99% gone. It’s the best decision I’ve made.
