Valerie, I am 68 years old and am uniquely qualified to make the statement that you save someone every time you share this HUGE stuff. Although I love myself now, it took a LONG time to get here. Being born in 1956, I come from a generation that considered it shameful to talk about the feelings and thoughts that people like us experience. If we were easily understood we would be envied because we live Life at one of deepest levels possible. Your art is a gift to all, but the sharing of your humanity is the gift of validation to people like us who live through the hell of sometimes feeling way too much. It’s so beautiful when all is said and done, and we both know we wouldn’t change a thing about it. Namaste.

Your rantings and pain are psychologically valid, Miss Valerie. But it's beautiful that you have this healthy mindset and behavioural response to such bad experience. Turning negative thoughts into positive creation like paintings and videography. In Psychology, as a psychology student myself, I think what you did there is called a Freudian's Defense Mechanism: Sublimation. It's a defense mechanism where you channel your negative energy to a form of behaviour that results a positive or at least harmless action. It's the healthiest form of defense mechanism. This mechanism measures how matured a person's mentality is, and it's just so inspiring to see a person like you bravely share this testimonies to the world (at least in KZbin community). High respect to you. God bless you, Miss!
@hannaaugenstein5 ай бұрын
Sublimation in its classic form is a rather unconscious act. In her case she allows all her emotions to flow, she reflects upon everything that has happened and is happening in her mind body and soul and she very consciously decides to paint this as a process to work this out. This would not be seen as sublimation anymore but as a healthy form to work with a wound. It is a mature and brutally bold and brave act of conscious healing. While a defence machansim can be healthy or unhealthy and yes the sublimation is most of the time a rather healthy one it would take away the truth of what's happening in Valeries case: using the paining as a source of healing beside the mentioned needed aspects that "disqualifies" her behaviour from a defence mechanism (conscious process, flow and acceptance of her emotions that arise, reflection, insights and integration). Yet really only she knows.. as this is just a snipped of her very nuanced life.

Self care is SO important, sweet girl. When I was going through my divorce, there were days where I had complete breakdowns, panic attacks and I gained a lot of weight. I couldn’t sleep. I was scared for my future, and I felt so betrayed. My health suffered tremendously for a while. But I went to the doctor, began seeing a new therapist and also began working out five days a week. I also began painting after work every day, making a practice of at least 15 minutes but it usually turned into hours. Day by day, I began to get better. I checked in regularly with my doctor and continued weekly therapy. I made friends at the gym. I made a point of not letting the sadness and things going on outside my control dictate things that bring me joy. Day by day, things got better. Remember, these moments in your life are temporary. You will look back someday and see the tremendous growth during this time. Keep going. You’ve got this

We don't need to have or be anything at this moment. Finding answers to life is like painting a picture, it starts out with a plan, then a sketch, all the materials and then you just start and implement and adapt as you move along, sometimes you want to give up when the white spaces are too big, and you know mentally, that you would inevitably need to fill those gaps, but then you start seeing it come together, it happens suddenly and you feel like yes, I am more confident now, your strokes will be stronger and fluid and you will push through, till you know its done, in your gut. Then you just need to sign your name on it, cause it was an image that didn't exist before but now it does from you and your effort. You are happy and exhausted that it's over, you rest until inspiration hits you again. Life mirrors art sometimes or so i'd like to believe. 💛

Hi, Valerie :) In response to the pet discussion, one of the things I really enjoy about watching your videos is seeing your enjoyment of living by yourself, and how the space, time and choices you make are yours, alone. If you feel that the time is right to have another companion in your household (but, don't forget, your new palm and your beautiful plants and flowers- and even the furnishings you put care and maintenence into- also count!), of course do what feels right. But, there's something really special about having the time and space to care for yourself like you are, so you're also welcome to just enjoy that as it is. As you remind us, growth comes along in all things. Thanks for what you put out into the world 💖

The best suggestion I have for a studio pet is a shoal of fish!! You can get a big tank and put plants in it like a garden, and the fish will be curious and sweet but they have no smell and will not disturb your painting supplies or make your house dirty! (Thank you also for the honesty of this video, if it helps you feel any better you and I have very similar coping mechanisms for the same types of situations).

Sending you big hugs from Canada. Thank you for sharing your honest journey. It's horrible when those we trust with our vulnerability deliver such pain. It's part of the process of creating that beautiful butterfly. You've been transforming so quickly since you moved to your lovely "new" space that your growth may have challenged those who hurt you. You have the determination to survive this and you'll do more than that -you'll thrive. Enjoy your life. As for a pet, I believe you'd mentioned some allergies previously but birds, fish, animals all have their own life journeys to be on. You'll know when you encounter your "pet" who will be your best friend and greatest comfort. For now that beautiful plant will have to provide that for you. Hang in there, sweet girl. And know you have a community that thinks the world of you!

In fact i gave up once and made a suicide attempt, but thankfully called the Police who helped drive me to a nearby Hospital. They saved my life. I regret doing this looking back and it wasn‘t planned or anything, it was because I was experiencing so much pain that I couldn‘t handle anymore. Ever since that experience I started to draw again and use it as an Output to grow and Show emotions. I‘m nowhere as good as you are but it‘s fun to use colors to express yourself. I also don‘t drink, take drugs or party. Please know that you are loved and cherished, when you feel like giving up remember you are not alone! I love following you along your Journey. Thank you for being so honest with us Valerie, i am sure this will help so many people including me, keep going, give your self time, feel things through, dont force yourself into anything and know that you are definitely not alone, i feel you and understand you, but just like you said and already know, magical things cannot happen without the hard times, and we are probably meant to learn something through these hard times to become stronger and better versions of ourselves, so that we can make better decisions most importantly the ones that make us truly happy. So we can get to know ourselves on a deeper level, feel ourselves, love and nurture ourselves for who we are, and just give ourselves what we need and do what we love, without thinking or expecting much by putting pressure on ourselves. Times like this can be great for reflection. And lastly happiness is a choice that we get to make, thank you for showing us that. Take care. Sending you so much love.❤

This is so wholesome. How you alchemized those feelings into it's peak and final stage where you begin to live and simply be. You little by little unravel those layers spontaneously out of that state of being whatever it is even without realizing it, into what it could be. which would bring like minded people who wants change and work through taking an action towards moving forward just like you. This is the one idea out of all the ideas that you have shared in this video for me.

Honey, as someone who adopted a cat while going through depression, I can say it was the best decision of my life. However, it's crucial to recognize that you're healing and doing good with your life before making such a decision. Don't rush into it... take care of yourself first. Having a pet is a huge responsibility, even with cats. They have their own personalities, and not all of them are "easy to take care of and independent." They save you, but they need you too. I adopted my cat when I was healing, not when I was in the dark side of the force. Thank you so much for this video. I do something similar on my channel, sharing my personal process, and I know how difficult it is to open up this much to strangers. But I also know how comforting it is to realize you're not alone. Take care!

Go for a cat! A cat is a great studio companion; no need to walk it, it's quiet (overall), can do it's own thing for hours on end or be an amazing cuddling companion when you need it. Cat's are quite good at reading your mood as well and their curious nature might lead them to watch you as you paint. Best emotional support pet if you ask me with their calming nature and the purring is just soothing. thanks for sharing your vulnerable and strong sides in this video, kinda needed that today. Valerie you've touched my soul with this video. I'm cleaning my house after two weeks today, I was always drawing as a child and the more self aware I became and the more aware I became of the pain around me I stopped, I didn't see the point of art anymore and because of you I plan on getting out my art supplies this afternoon and just draw ❤

In 2022, when there were difficult times in my life, this place right here used to be my safe space. I would watch your videos and feel safe and seen. Now everything is different but in the same time its completely the same; hard times come and go and now they are here again. And I return to your channel and I find this -- a metamorphosis. Maybe it's time for me to do it as well. "Everything must change in order for it to remain the same." Thank you Valerie, for all that you give everyday. You make the world a more hopefull place.

Valerie, I prefer when your videos show you painting, without any background sound or music, but just the natural sounds around you. Like ASMR. The footage of painting to the details of making the painting is extended again. Your painting is very very beautiful.

Girl! You always comes up when I need the most. Thanks for your videos. This helps me a lot since I broke up with my bf last year. Also, thanks to my close friends who helped me a lot in this self-care development of my life. This is the true turn of my life. I will be soon 18years old. Wish me luck in the adult world.

It's so sad to see you cry because as you said sometimes I think you're in peace everytime. Maybe it's because of your arts' and your vibe; like spring, flowers, shiny things (happiness). You always come at the right time and i'm so happy for this. I didn't had any problem with people but with my own exhausting personality. So you really showed me the right direction with this video. And finally I think you should use curly hair more! I wish you lots of happiness sis💫

Valerie, I truly love you ! I am sorry for the pain you experienced , but I am amazed by the way you handled it and converted to experience! You know in my country Bulgaria we said “ Every bad thing that it’s happening to you is for good “. You are so beautiful! I love your hair when it’s curly, main it’s also like that after shower 😅 I will be truly happy to be your friend someday! I wish you all the best ! ❤️🌷

Dearest Valerie, you are amazing and I love watching your growth journey toward perfect wisdom and maturity. As an older woman, I am asking you to please consider refraining from making statements like, “I am insane; I am crazy.” Words are powerful and, oftentimes, what we speak becomes manifested. I know you don’t literally mean those things but the impact is still heavy, nonetheless. I pray for every good and right thing upon and in you. Be joyful and connected. I am sending love to you, and all who read this. ❤
