Terrific video. Thanks! I watched your informative timing belt video to help me. I might change the thermostat because my '06 Sienna's coolant overflow tank keeps emptying out so I'm looking at all the options.

Isn’t there a bleeder valve you can open to help burp the system?

Awesome video, quick question doing it right now there’s small rubber grommet/ cap just inside new thermostat below tip, does that stay there or remove before install?

If it is under the metal thermostat frame then it's part of the design. Most brands don't have a rubber piece but the Aisin brand is one that has it.

Can someone tell me please, there is a screw on top of the harness for Sienna 2005, is there any electrical wire that goes there?
@Dormdad094 ай бұрын
Nope that's just for a screw on zip tie, pretty much obsolete

Why did you replace the housing?
@ValleyMobileAutomotive4 ай бұрын
This housing was corroded where it attaches to the thermostat. So it wouldn't seal properly.

I replaced my thermostat and gasket when i went to fill van with coolant it leaked, does the thermostat fit in flush against the engine, i noticed you applied silicone grease, does thermostat go into a recess in block ?
@ValleyMobileAutomotive5 ай бұрын
If I recall correctly I believe it is recessed on the engine side. The silicone paste helps the gasket slide into the recess.

Just Changed my Thermostat on my 2006 Sienna CE. the new thermostat comes Without the O Ring rubber Washer. It Goes around the Big edge of the Thermostat. When I Took Off the old Thermostat the old rubber Washer was still in Place. On block. Thermostat came out without it. Didn’t Realize it till I was trying to fit New Thermostat. Would not fit. Shone my Flashlight 🔦. And I could see old sealer waser was in block. Pulled it out. Then pushed new Thermostat in to the opening with new Rubber gasket on

Thank you! Btw...my thermostat didn't come with a gasket either. What foolish thing is this? It's like buying a water pump but no gasket with it.😐

Do I need blue RTV? I got everything back together, poured in the new coolant and it just all leaked out at the housing.

No rtv should be required. Double check that the thermostat seal is on correctly and fits snuggly on the engine side. Also check the thermostat housing for pitting or an uneven mating surface.
