According to mapper UEAKCrash, an update like this was in discussion before the workshop community sent their open letter to Valve over a week ago, but them receiving the letter spurred them to push this out sooner. Given what was asked in the open letter, I'm assuming this update will be similar in scale to what we get during Halloween and Smissmas, but without any restrictions to theme. I'll happily accept anything more like balance updates or new weapons though!

i only like ctf as a kind of team deathmatch, and ignore the intel entirely. Wish there was a no intel sawmill community server, or really any server in general... it takes so long to queue for sawmill in casual, and the game lasts 2 mins and people immediately vote for 2fort or turbine. The pain of being the only sawmill fan.

I wouldn't get my hopes up too much. They've already done this with a couple of the recent Smissmas updates (E.G. Pier was a permanently added, non-christmas themed map), and they never said there would be gameplay changes or new weapons. Since they didn't mention hats, we can assume "items" means hats. Don't we all know the cycle of radio silence-->calling Valve out--->Valve acting better for two weeks-->repeat?

Guys, I want you to hold your expectations. Read the blog-post again they've changed some text in it. In general, it's says what it's going to be a not "full-sized update" but a "holiday-sized update". Which means we're getting NO guns, NO contracts, NO rebalance changes and NO bot possible fixes anytime soon. I was expecting that cowardish move, but still that message maked me disappointed. We all need to stop believing, that 3 devs(bug fixes) could make an actual good update like Jungle Inferno. We need to make #SaveTF2 protest again, but more aggressive one. And we must send this message DIRECTLY to Valve's HQ. BUT do not touch Voice Actors, Gabe Newell or those 3 devs, that's are struggling to make us this Summer Update(like they're mostly bug fixers and they gave us an option, where we can CHOOSE what title or theme will be given to this update, even it's holiday-sized) We must grow masses of people to protest gainst other mass - Valve's company. Even IF they're abandoned our beloved game, at least we want to be Casual actually PLAYABLE, am I right? Because if they're bots and cheaters around, why do we even need any maps in Summer Update? Like bots will just ruin this fun of exploring new maps and that's all, nobody will play it. Community maps are mostly 2Fort, so finding a new Summer Update map in such servers would be a miracle, but still unlikely. We must show these cowards, what we're made of! #SaveTF2
