And the thing is all the attributes that the guy is talking about “bouncing pecks” “six pack abs,” are all distinctive to the MALE gaze not the female gaze. All of those attributes perpetuate that men should be “strong” and “tough” which is a direct line to the patriarchy. A lot of men can’t understand why many women like Harry Styles and Timothée Chalamet bc they don’t coincide with the male gaze but the female gaze. Men are literally out here blaming women for their problems when it’s their fault.

I totally get that, I just don't think the tiktoker did that song with the intention of dismiss women's issue. Like Kurt in the video said: "Yeah but me tho". Thats the part I think everyone got wrong. The parody build a dude was made with the intention of bringing up male body positivity in a society that wants men to be strong and have a 6 pack. With that put, you can interpret as a union between both binary genders to fight agains society, not to fight each other on who's the most sufferable. Thats how I view it.

It’s about the patriarchal expectation for men to be “strong” and “dominant.” It’s not what most women or even gay or bisexual men want, it’s about the male gaze but not in a sexual way. Just like how women pressure each other to look a certain way, men do that to each other too. Forced conformity. And because men have more power over society than women, the forced conformity that the patriarchy puts on both men and women is the strongest.

For the manifestation update, in order to manifest what you want into your life (abundance, wealth, love, friendship, etc.) you do actually have to put in the work in order to attract those things into your life. Manifestation is speaking these things into existence as if they’re already yours in order to create the desired outcome. But it isn’t just speak something into existence and then you automatically get it, you actually have to align yourself with your manifestation and put in work and effort. As in you are what you attract.

I'm still trying to manifest friends and family, but I guess I'm not manifesting hard enough. I'm worried that if I manifest any harder I'll poop my pants. And that definitely won't help me get friends and family, unless it's those weird diaper fetishists and I'd rather just die alone than surrounded by deviants in diapers.

I manifested my dream job in 2019. I simply wrote down what my dream job looks like, my dream salary, co-workers etc. I wasn't even looking for the job at that time, as I had a different job already. Suddenly an offer popped up out of nowhere on my Facebook feed and I felt the urge to sent them my resume. They invited me to an interview (the whole trip to that job interview is a whole wild story itself, Universe really had my back that day, but the comment would be too long) and the job turned out to be EXACTLY what I wrote on my list, like insanely accurate. It was postponed to this year due to covid but I'm starting in September this year. You can do this! 🧡
@genericname87273 жыл бұрын
@@Monicalia You know the part of that story where you mentioned submitting a resume to somewhere advertising a position? That’s probably the main thing that helped you get a job lol (even if some luck or previous experience and skills factored in too). The joke of this comment is that we’re not doing that.

Do not give people like her a platform to spread misinformation dude! You know manifestation obviously does not exist. Sure having a positive mindset is great and you should have goals but just thinking about something you want will not magically make it happen. These people are con-men who profit off young peoples anxiety and naivety. I know its your podcast and you can do what you want but personally I think they should not be allowed the benefit of the doubt.

basically manifesting is about intention, you put the intention into your actions therefore you are more likely to achieve it. It's basically about putting faith into yourself
@fiandrafulchiati49013 жыл бұрын
it's simply a new age way of putting effort and believing in yourself.... I mean, if it has a positive effect on your mind go for it, but it's still weird to treat it like is something more than normal

It’s possible he learned about it from Frenemies, where I know Trisha has talked on there about manifesting things and it kind of seems like they basically just mean wishing things into existence. I just remembered a quote I was told as a child. Wishing without work is like fishing without bait.

@@genericname8727 he has talked about it before. Like when some chick "manifested" a tesla her daddy probably bought her. If it's really just putting faith in yourself then we should say that instead of filling kids with false home that if they want something bad enough it will come to them.

I absolutely don't want an episode about Manifesting. In my opinion, manifesting implies that people who are less fortunate aren't "trying hard enough". The tiktoks you've played in the podcast are so unsettling and idiotic. The whole concept of Manifesting seems similar to crystal healing (wishful thinking, placebo, misleading vulnerable people, etc.)
@itsanu14203 жыл бұрын
Tiktok manifestation by people like this woman in the tiktok commodify a very real spiritual practice which is part of Hinduism and Buddhism. This is the danger of tiktok tbh they take something which is very ancient and has important roots in people’s culture and uses it to help capitalism and dirty the name up till it’s mixed with crystal healing. I’m disappointed he didn’t get someone who actually knows what they’re talking about and actually practices the larger Hindu/ Buddhist practices involved, same thing happened to yoga too😑😑
@someembarrassingLPs3 жыл бұрын
Agreed, her response annoyed me when she said the more money you have the more you can help people. Oh yeah? Then why didn't you manifest that 20k for someone else? If you're making so much money now then surely someone else could use the Tesla more than you, and you can just manifest more cars? This seems like a resurgence of The Secret, which had the same concept of "everything that happens, good or bad, is due to your own mindset so you need to think positively all the time". What do they call it? Toxic positivity?
@vitorcage3 жыл бұрын
Yup, this is it. And we shouldnt respect and plataform people that spread misinformation and other bullshit that make people feel shitty and guilty for something that is actually a social problem from capitalism. Fuck that girl

No hate, but PLEASE Kurtis don’t do a whole podcast on manifesting. I don’t have the energy to listen to white people essentially discussing how praying to the universe will give them things. “Homeless? You didn’t manifest hard enough” sounds a lot like “you didn’t pray or please God enough.” Especially when manifesting apparently turns out to just be setting goals to work towards and a whole lot of privilege? :/
@moomookachoo79663 жыл бұрын
THIS. Making kids feel inadequate as well, because that's the audience on tik tok. Telling them if they JUST believe they can make a Tesla appear? Alot of impressionable kids are out there dealing with real struggles and have to overcome social, financial and REAL things on order to achieve goals. you dont wish on stars and get millions of dollars. You work hard and overcome things. Frankly the manifest phenomenon is toxic. Making people believe that if they arent rich and happy that its their fault. People deal with abuse, addiction and debt. Is their fault? Did they manifest that? And if they start "manifesting" a better life and it doesnt happen? That would mean that theyre the only one to blame. Acting as of there arent socio economic influences of peoples lives is mentally damaging
