For the step parent advice: as someone who had to deal with their dads annoying girlfriends, I ended up just leaving the room whenever they got like that. I also had a strict-ish step father, but our relationship got better as I got older. Kurtis was right when he said there was no reasoning with people like that. Sorry you have to go through it. If anything I would talk to your siblings and father first, and if nothing happens just try and take it day by day.

For the advice segment I totally agree with you not being able to change their mind. I had a very similar experience with my stepmom (except I was 12 and not 2 so i never saw her as a parent which would be very hard going through everything later) she was very controlling, refused to respect privacy and made my home feel like we were walking on egg shells. We did not have a good relationship despite MANY family meetings. We get along now cause we only have to see each other for a short amount of time and don’t live with each other. It’s pretty hard to navigate and deal with, and hopefully that person has a strong support system out of the home they can rely on cause it can make you feel like you’re going crazy.

28:07 ,, hey! type 1 diabetic here, people with diabetes can have all the same foods (including chocolate!) as a person without diabetes. the thing with diabetes is that the pancreas cannot produce insulin naturally, so synthetic insulin has to be administered either via injections or an insulin pump. personally i have had an insulin pump for 7 years now and it’s as simple as pressing a few buttons to be able to eat anything without worrying! most foods have carbohydrates in them, so it’s actually a bit of a myth that we can’t eat sweets. by that logic diabetics shouldn’t be able to eat bread or fruit either lmao. in people with type 2 diabetes this is a bit different as type 2 develops later in life as the pancreas slowly stops being able to produce insulin on its own, compared to type 1 which develops in childhood and can progress quite suddenly. i’m not completely sure on how type 2 works beyond that, as i’ve never known someone with type 2. i can probably answer any questions anyone has about type 1 though! ^ω^
