Veteran actor V. K. Ramasamy speaks about Dr.M.G.R
Coming on the familiar stage-to-screen in the early 1940s, Ramasamy shot into prominence when, at the age of 21, he donned the role of a 60-year-old father of grown-up sons in `Naam Iruvar' (1947), first film of the AVM Films. `VKR' as the actor became known, did not look back since then.
However, he always got to play only an elderly person throughout his career, which spanned over five decades in which he acted in over 500 films.
In the 1960s and 1970s, Ramasamy acted with almost all leading actors including T.R. Mahalingam, M.G Ramachandran, Sivaji Ganesan, Jai Shankar, Ravichandran, Muthuraman, Kamal Hassan and Rajnikant. He was known for his dialogue delivery, especially as a villain or comedian. He was at ease playing any role and paired with the veteran comedienne, Manorama, to play some memorable roles in Tamil films. Peers always respected his old world values of discipline on the sets.
In the later part of his career, Ramasamy produced over 15 films.

For others I would have oppose, but in MGR's case is different. He is a gem! Just watch his movies, his handsome face, his motivation quotes, good behaviour, respect parents , no bad habits, no vulgarity, all this qualities you cannot find in any other actors movies. Have travelled in groups to Tamilnadu from Malaysia several times a year... Whenever we arrive at the spacious MGR Memorial centre beside the beach in Chennai, I feel some sort of magnetic energy coming from the Black Marble... No politician and actors is match to MGR , bcoz of his character , he is above all he even showed compassion to his enemies and if their life is degraded economically he voluntarily went to their doorsteps and helped them, at the same time he will never use him for his personal reasons especially in his political benefits. Today many actors want to be like him and want to enter into politics and they start their own political parties without knowing that mgr character was different from them he even won't speak punch dialogues or criticize against the actor's who where popular and equal to him in cinema industry to belittle them with his popularity. Today no actor has such characters and especially his way of respecting the elders who helped him, and mgr didn't start a political party intially he was first in Congress and then pulled by karunanidhi to DMK in the name of friendship especially for mgr's popularity at that time, and mgr became MLA from DMK and later after 4-5 yrs of Annadurai 's death he was sent out and expelled out of DMK party by his own friend karunanidhi ,bcoz of mgr's growing popularity in DMK party, And then he strated political party ADMK. So he entered into political system two decades before and only then he started his own political party. And that workshop gave MGR a strong foundation in politics and admk is ruling TN till now even after his death. But today all actors not even doing a field work or doesn't know what is politics . start their own political parties to became cm of tamilnadu , I assure intially there will be some response to this actors who start political parties but later people's will ignore them if they are not vibrant . Best example vijaykanth people gave him the seat of being opposite party leader in TN assembly but in next elecyion he even didn't get deposit in elections even though there was multi party alliance. So to actors it's not 1972.
