I think it's better to have a plea bargain than the case go to trial and the jury find her not guilty because the prosecutor was unable to prove intent or that she was the one who committed the murder. We know she will spend years behind bars. That's better than an acquittal.

Ugh, as someone who worked as a veterinary pharmacy tech for years… those drugs are so controlled and have to be logged in & out every single time! They are usually in a locked cabinet as well. Our logs for those meds were checked weekly and remaining pills in the bottle were counted. We would know if even 1 pill or 1cc was missing! Its so obvious she did this to him😠

At one clinic where I worked, certain drugs could only be removed from the safe by the veterinarian. And all the other logging, etc., you described applied. I remember there was a scam where someone would call pretending to work at another hospital and ask to borrow ketamine, so all the rules around that got even tighter. No way she wasn't going to get caught.

vets and our manager are the only ones with keys to the controlled drug drawer at my clinic. still, how tf did another employee not notice that the controlled drugs log was off?

@@meganm4304 in a small town like San Angelo... she was probably the only vet at her clinic. And while she obviously had technicians and maybe other staff she easily could have done all the inventory work herself. I grew up in that area and one of the vet clinics we went to was literally a one woman show. It was a vet clinic attached to her home and she took emergency, after hours, weekend, etc. calls. But this vet had no technicians, front desk staff, etc. It seemed super sketch to me even as a kid, and the clinic reaked of cigarettes. Basically, it is possible that she had minimal staff and did all the logging herself.

My mother is a veterinarian in a rural area. Her situation is different because she currently runs her own business and is the only one who keeps tabs on her drugs and whats coming and going. It would be incredibly easy for those drugs to be misused. She also used to work at clinic owned by another vet. A lot of their work was large animal and she made a lot of emergency calls to people’s farms. She has always had a vet box with anything you can imagine in it. It would be a lot easier than you think to sneak something away. Especially if you are a vet with a license to not only carry/possess those drugs but buy them as well.

In the video, she said that when they looked at the log books at her clinic, there was more of one of the drugs noted as being dispensed to a chihuahua with seizures than should have been for a dog that size. So either she alone was managing her books, or whoever else at the clinic does that saw that the number of pills remaining matched the number dispensed without seeing that one of the prescriptions shouldn't have been for as many pills as it was.

The way she addresses him is the body. My husband passed away on 9.19.21 in our home and when I found him the first thing I did was start cpr and I ran and grabbed my phone to call 911. When I found him he was in the bathroom he was 180 pounds and when I tried to move him I barely was able to move him and start performing cpr. I am sorry I don't believe her at all. It has been just about a year and I would never never speak about my husband in the matter she does. Or laugh and say "body". It kills me everyday having him not here. She deserves life.

It’s so much easier to get a divorce. Now their kids don’t have either parent. It’s such a selfish thing to do. She is one of the few offenders who should be in prison until the day they die. I'm so frustrated with our judicial system in Texas! That horrible monster should have been given the max 99 years! She shouldn't be allowed to breathe when she took someone else's life. It's simple, she had access to these pills and to say she stabbed him that many times to keep down in the water is a clear indication that she killed him. My heart goes out to Mike's family. I didn’t know Mike but my dad worked with and knew him closely. I was very young when all of this happened so I wasn’t aware of it…. When you said he worked at Dyess in the early 2000s it was very chilling. I called my dad up and, sure enough, they were buddies. I’ve never experienced anything like this happening even somewhat close to me…. Definitely is going to make me an even more active true crime listener moving forward. So sad for his family and friends

How on earth did Wendi get a protective order against her missing husband?? It was hard enough for me to get one After my ex husband broke into my home, beat the living shit out of me in front of my entire neighborhood, in broad daylight, and tried abducting my pet bunnies. I literally was walking around with black eyes. The only reason I ended top getting one is my case happened to come across the desk of a very good domestic violence detective that actually realized my life was (and still is) in danger. Something isn't adding up with that story, imo. I mean it was like pulling teeth for me, and I had a severe concussion, a missing tooth and black eyes. I'd love to know the name of the judge/magistrate that granted that restraining order on Wendi's behalf. Seems very off.

I lived in and still live in San Angelo, Texas. This case was a HUGE deal and is still talked about to this day. My aunt actually went to this psychotic woman and trusted her to take care her pets. It's still shocking to think that this happened in my hometown. Poor guy did not deserve this and I constantly think about his child who is only a few years younger than me.

really sad that I was shocked that her brother was in law enforcement and actually did the right idea thing rather than using his position to tamper with the case in her favor. That couldn’t have been easy and I wish more in law enforcement would take their responsibilities as seriously as he does. I want to thank you for the caring and compassionate attitude with which you presented this case, and consistently present all the victims' stories in these appalling crimes. I watched a report about a young woman who disappeared several years ago, by the name of Kelsey Schelling (apologies to her family if I misspelled her name). She lived in Colorado, and to my knowledge was never found. I believe her ex boyfriend was eventually implicated, but have heard of no new updates. Her mom, a beautiful lady, as was young Kelsey, has suffered deeply, as with any normal parents who love their children and lose them. 💙🙏 I would love to see your take on that heartbreaking story. My prayers for and condolences to the devastated dad in this video. Prayers for your family as well. 🙏🙏
