The Lady Who Lives With Crocodiles

Wildlife carer Vicki Lowing is an animal lover, but she takes it further than most. Lowing has been living with crocodiles for thirty years, adopting them from former owners unable to meet their needs. Her beloved “pet” Jilly is thought to be one of the only saltwater crocs in the world raised to interact with humans non-aggressively. Jilly as well as four friendly freshwater crocs are free to roam around Vicki’s suburban Melbourne house, leaving her menagerie of adopted cats, birds, and lizards unscathed. Vicki has dedicated her life to caring for crocodiles, and she stresses that these complex and intelligent creatures shouldn’t be kept as pets by non-specialist owners.

@TaylorMade 3 No, it's because she's crazy. He turned his back on the crocodile, a dominant threat display in the wild, and the crocodile reacted. Its like if i said i could telepathically hear my cat telling me she was going to pounce, and when i dangle a string in front of her and she pounces, i use it as proof i was right
@ApexPredator1000
@ApexPredator1000 4 жыл бұрын
Crocodilians emit a low frequency rumble sound that most humans cannot hear but can you can feel it - hence the hairs standing on end as she says. Functionally, once you understand what they're trying to convey via these rumbles, she's not completely wrong about it almost being like telepathy. But only she'd know because it's still a very subtle tell that requires experience with the animal to understand.

@justapillow2443
@justapillow2443 4 жыл бұрын
While I agree they have a bad reputation, I'd rather swim with a great white than a saltier. Crocs and gators are truly predators. A shark would check you out, and 9 out of 10 find some prey it's more used too. But a hungry gator, it will come for you because you are meat, just like a pig or a deer. And the funny part is they are more docile than crocs. They are so good at hunting, they LITERALLY have barely changed their base form for millions of years. Crocodiles are my favorite animal, but you got me fucked up if I'd tangle with one 🤣!

purple glitter It is said in the video that she has a pension, which means she’s already done her fair share of work just like anyone else.
