1080p was what I made a strategic decision on when I upgraded my monitor this year. Reasons: Looks good already, require less power from hardware to drive, I get to run games at 144fps a lot more often even without a 2080 or whatever. When I upgrade to whatever the universal ray tracing solution is I can probably max everything out at native resolution and ray tracing for over 60fps.

Hey Jay? Why don't you do a series on SOUND?!? Good sound systems allow for real immersive gameplay. Sure, a great monitor and viddy card are essential; but why no serious sound discussions? Really? Serious sound systems are just as important for movies and viddys, as much as the best game play. An adequate stereo with subwoofer system with enough power output isn't even expensive compared to other components. Enough of the headphone rubbish too. Talking about ambient, decent sound.

@@ctrang0458 Okay. I just meant he could still get this panel if it was the feature set he wanted, just in 1080. Sure, you can get a VA panel for cheaper in 1440, or a smaller IPS from AOC, but that means either going for a potentially less color-accurate or smaller panel to save money. Or you can buy a lower resolution version of this display and still get a 27" IPS screen. It just depends on what you value. Evidently you value your budget over features, but not everyone is dead set on getting a 1440 monitor.

@@Novskyy621 that's not true, a VA & most likely a TN as well, wouldn't show THAT. Since it's IPS glow we're looking at right there. Basically the room is too dark with not enough bias lighting to enjoy a dark scene on that panel. A standard IPS issue you aren't likely to avoid.

I pre-ordered this sucker in November and got it the first week of December from CDW. After spending months researching and shopping around for the "perfect" monitor, I stumbled on this, took my chances and I have 0 regrets. Absolutely in love. Being in marketing, I was going to opt for an HP Z27. I loved the sleek design and clearly it would be a great monitor for content creation and photo editing... but then I purchased COD and realized a higher refresh rate than 70hz would be nice. I started shopping around again... I was now looking for something very specific: IPS Panel, at least 27", 144hz+ refresh rate, G-sync (compatible), minimal/sleek design (unlike most gaming monitors), thin bezel. It came down to the Asus Tuf VG27AQ, Aorus FI27Q-P, and the XG270QG. - Though it was not a deal breaker, I wasn't t a fan of the bezel with the button labels on the Asus. - The Aorus monitors, though the bezels are pretty much non-existent, I was not feeling the ridiculous amount of RGB and over the top lines on the back or the stand. I also concluded Gigabyte was to new in the Monitor space to be considered reliable. Then there was the Viewsonic XG270QG... With little information and almost no reviews I was taking my chances. But I thought it was a safe risk because viewsonic is a very reputable brand + they are using a LG nano display. All-in-all it checked every box on my list other than my original budget (which I was already pushing with the HP Z27 at $500), but it was well worth it and my setup looks ACE.
