It is cast iron so should last a very long time. This is one of my first engine, very good engines to learn on, well built and run well. I still have it in the shed.

Mine smokes and won't review up, every so often it will rev up then back to normal, there is lots of smoke coming out of the the breather too......compression is about 5bar. Help

If you could find a generator to hook it up to would work but I'm guessing you would only be able to make about 800 watts.

+Michael Halsall Sounds about right, I have a book for this engine and it states different hp at different applications. But they work on b.h.p. so I would say in todays h.p. would be about 3 or 4hp.

+rotaryhoes No. I bhp is 1 hp into a brake, where flywheel stores energy from power stroke releasing it over the rest of the cycle. Thus, Michaels's figures would stand. Must you stand on sheet-metal shroud while pulling on antiquated rope starter? Kinda cave-man.

I have the same engine iv cleaned it all thought it runs for about 10 seconds then coughs and cuts out can't do much more with the tuning screw can anyone help

Sounds like a fuel issue. Could be getting starved of fuel. First thing I would do is take the hose off the carby that comes from the tank and make sure there is a good amount of fuel coming through at a constant rate. If there is then I would strip the carby and blow it all out with compressed air. Only takes a tiny bit of grit in the wrong place to cause a fuel blockage and can happen when putting a carby back together after a clean. If there is any screws for adjusting the fuel mixture screw them right in but not hard, just until they are firm, then unscrew two full turns and the engine should run. If you get time should post a video if it, would be good to see.

@user-pz5wt8dp4h all you need to do is earth the spark plug with a metal flap or run a wire to points and to a switch that connects to earth.
