This is the exact fan that SpatsBear2 has (you can find it on his channel). I remember seeing it on his speedyc395 KZbin channel more than 10 years ago before he eventually posted it on his current one and before that old channel got suspended. There’s also a similar model called the ‘Super 20’ that Jordan U has. Only his has just a thermostat with no reverse and no pilot light like this one and the one that Spats still has. Other than that, it’s the same fan with the same motor with the same sounds.
@colin_58394 жыл бұрын
Yup, I have seen both of those videos! The ultra twenty was the top model, I think the super twenty was below it in the ranking. Thanks for Watching!
@1998MonroeNYColonial4 жыл бұрын
This model and the LAU Super 20 are superior fans. Certainly better than today’s crap that you can find in Wal-Mart. They don’t make ‘em like they used to.

That is definitely a older LAU (layou) because it doesn't have the logo in the ultra twenty logo and a LAU badge on the back. This is one of my favorite box fans.

Huh, I thought it was the opposite lol, but that's good to know!! I really like it too! Are you saying that it should be pronounced like it's spelled "La You"? Thanks for watching and the info!
@mikeminici49564 жыл бұрын
I have the same fan with the same reverse switch problem. Was hoping to slow down your vid at the point where things went wrong. If you could go back in time, did you realize what froze the switch and how you should have fixed it? You made a hard day’s work into an enjoyable 22 minute vid that will help every future Lau owner!
@colin_58394 жыл бұрын
Really? That's weird. It turns out that it was just the actual shaft that spins in the front housing of the switch that was stuck. I went wrong by trying to take it apart, and when I went to reassemble, I accidentally broke off a small tab. If I were you, I would just lay the fan on it's back and keep spraying WD-40 on it or penetrating oil and after letting it sit for a while see if you can slowly work the shaft back and fourth with a pair of pliers. DON'T TAKE IT APART, IT WON'T HELP! lol! After doing this several times, it should break free, or at least that's what happened for me. Yea it was actually several days lol! That's why I like the time lapse videos! Thanks for Watching!

It would make things easier if the switch knob popped off so I could spray but that is my first problem, unless it has a set screw?
@colin_58394 жыл бұрын
mine slid right off, no set screw. just be careful about prying it off, don't want to snap the knob

Nice find,I think I seen that very same fan in a listing a few months ago, was it in Lyndhurst NJ ? I was thinking about scoffing his fans up ,as it isn't too far away from me, PS those push buttons always break easily too ,my uncle had the very same fan decades ago & I replaced them with toggle switches too

@Xyspade3 жыл бұрын
Had to come watch this after I saw it in the fans startup video for this year. What an awesome looking fan. Actually the toggle looks really good down there because now the four circles on the left side are "symmetrical;" the middle two are knobs, and then the top and bottom ones are a good visual match as well. Fasco motors seem to be fantastic all around, I never see any that have issues and their spindowns are quite lengthy. Is the Saf-T-Eye a neon bulb?
@colin_58393 жыл бұрын
Yea I love this fan! Couldn't beat the deal either! Yea it doesn't look too bad at all and the clunkiness of it sure fits the rest of the fan lol! Yea seems to be a pretty good motor! I believe it is a neon bulb, but I could be wrong. Thanks for Watching Xyspade!

Phenominal restoration! Looks and performs good as new. Yep, we all have moments where we break things, my last was the switch on my Frigid 14" box fan. I didn't know how it was attached, so I pried on the knob with a trim removal tool and .. oops. I have a toggle switch on it as well. The way I see it, we can use those toggle switches and one day we'll find a real replacement. Oh and I do the same thing with the drill press :-)
@colin_58394 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Sure does! :) Yea this is not my first time either lol! I was just annoyed at my self for doing it. Unless I can find a switch that will work, the toggle is staying. It really doesn't look too bad and is certainly clunky enough! Drill press trick works great right?! Thanks for Watching!
