Has this when I was 7.....and yes..I thought the dissection table was the best part....all kids did. We were like..." No way!" LoL That and the treehouse capture net... LoL cheers man 🤟🇨🇦

Oh I'd loved to have had these back in the day! Both these playsets definitely have a wonderful 1970's vibe about them, something you just don't get today, a lot of time, care and detail taken in production, planning and construction. I think the Village here has to be my favourite playset. Big big fan of the commercials for the Mego Planet of the Apes line. Absolutely superb, great video Brick! Thanks! Ps. that's one brutal BB gun effect on the box!

I wanted this so much as a kid but never found it in Canada. Sears had the Treehouse so that's the main focus of my old Planet of the Apes adventures. I would have given my left arm to have the Fortress and still have plans to make it out of wood for my 1/6 scale ape figures. Love the days when vivisecting astronauts was good clean childhood fun.

I do think it's interesting that they went from being "doll figures" in the Batcave's year of production to "8 inch action figures" when redone for the apes. And I know it's probably a generational thing, but I'll always take durable, foldable, lightweight cardboard (with or without vynl) playsets over huge mounds of plastic like (admittedly great-looking) '80s ones.

Excellent video! I love all the POTA line and I wish I could get my hands on one of the playsets. I recently got a set of the Phoenix Toys' Fabulous Felines and there's a picture of a playset on the back of the box. It looks to be made of cardboard like this one. I wonder if it was ever produced, because I haven't been able to find any examples for sale.

I’d say the Fortress is my fave of the playsets followed by the Village. I’ve owned a boxed Village for over 30 years and don’t think I’ve ever taken it out to check that I have all the contents. I really should do that.

did you pepper the box with high-powered BBs? There seems to be several small, round holes throughout. And if so, excellent shooting of Dr Zauis and the soldier! Right in the eye!

A few days ago I received the jail and operating table from the Apes Treehouse in the mail. I found them for a very low price. I can probably use them with the Batcave, since I don't have the Village play set.

Who did the artwork for the mego play sets? I have my original Bat Cave and remember spending a lot of time going over all the details of the artwork. I've always wondered who did the art and who designed these play sets.

By the time I got into PotAs, the toys were long gone, which makes me sad, as they all look amazing. Would have played with them until they fell apart. You constantly saying 'The Village' has me imagining some bizarre PotAs/ The Prisoner mash-up.

Had every single one. Heads came off easy on those damn dirty apes. Lol, village was cheap. Same fiber from those plastic sticker sets.. i forgot the name of those plastic stickers lol
