How Do I Hook My MPC2000XL to my computer?

@FULLBLASTRADIO midi out on the mpc to midi in on an audio interface. That's it. Then, the pads can control software. I'm not sure what's wrong with this guy tbh? He acts a bit odd.

@FULLBLASTRADIO Oh and on the sequence page you change drum from off to 1A out (or b depending on which you port you used), you mitexwant go change the notes or pads trigger too, then save.

You can use the 2000 to 2000 XL as a controller for software through USB to MIDI I've been doing it for years you can map out each pad stop start record sequence song mode all of that at my earliest convenience I will do a video again

@@lucapestoni7917you need a USB to MIDI plug it to your mPC and then you will look for the USB within the software and turn it on you can trigger different things but you will have to map it out through the software as if you had a keyboard controller with pads

Thanks for the video. Just so I get this right for my XL, I connect to an audio interface like Focusrite and then connect this to a DAW on laptop (which is software like FL Studio)? And would I use the MIDI outs or the stereo outs (which are connected to my speakers) to connect to the audio interface? What are the 8 assignable mix outs for? Thanks!

one question my brother ...i just want to keep choppin drum hits from records and samples on the mpc and then sequence in the daw not in the mpc ...is this possible...just using the the stereo outs of mpc into audio interface then into daw and and let track one be hi hat ..track 2 snare and so on ..but the daw be the sequencer .... does the daw quantize or have swing like the mpc ..i cant find any video on anybody just recording from mpc to a daw ..

sure this will work. you just need a interface with MIDI. if it's the case, connect the midi output from the MIDI-Audio interface to one of the Midi inputs of the MPC, then you can trigger the MPC's drum pads with a Midi Keyboard or any DAW. you just need to setup the MIDI Channels inside both devices or leave MIDI A or B inside the MPC on OMNI mode. setting up a DAW be able to comunicate with outboard gear, is in most cases the trouble maker, so if something doesn't work properly, you should look there. within the settings menu or what ever.

So on your tascam you connect your mpc outs to preamps with xlr? I thought you need to connect it to line input. So thats not important?

Question man and before I start love your videos and the vintage gear. Don't sell it it's continuing to go up in process and it's gonna all be highly sort after once again and only the deep pockets people will be able to obtain it like years ago. When you see legends holding on to theirs you should probably do the same even if not using it. My actual question was in reference to this video I run a macbook pro latest OS Monterey, will I still be able to use the Tascam US 1800 via USB? If I am screwed please let me know that as well as I didn't pay a lot for the interface and I have another major set up with an Apollo Quad by Universal Audio. However I wanted another set up for my MPC 2000 xl in another work section of my house. I am hearing all these stories on the net and decided to go directly to someone who has used it and your video is 2021. Thanks for any advice you can leave me all is appreciated. Thanks in advance

Hi thanks for commenting. I don't know about the Mac question I'm sorry. As for selling the XL, I was collecting for a few years and had almost all of them. Then I got serious about music and removed all the distractions and am producing a lot. Now I'm using an MPC Live and a few pedals. I have a KORG MS2000 but don't even use it right now. The Live has SO MUCH! And the workflow is genius. I made the decision to be a musician instead of a collector.

Does the MPC2000XL have a file naming rule? Limited to 8 characters? Ever corrupted files which are saved longer that 8 characters?

If you don’t name your sounds the machine will. Also it will overwrite if you don’t and you will loose sounds

The sampler in the xl is where you get the sound from … actually sample your drums samples etc into the machine instead of loading them

Only way I can think of is virtually how u would rip vinyl from a standalone turntable to mpc...so my guess is audio interface headphone or Pc/laptop headphone jack (XLR 6.3mm or 2.5mm out) thru to MPC (RECORD xlr 6.3mm in)

connect the analog audio output of your soundcard to the MPC by using a Y insert cable with TRS jacks or the digital way over S/PDIF. what a ultra smart question by the way^^

I use my 2000xl to control the drums sounds in garage band on my iPad and it’s wonderful. You actually can connect from scsi to USB with an adapter cable. Aren’t you the same guy who falsely claims you can’t add an internal drive in the MPC. You try to front like some kind of expert but you are ignorant AF about the XL
