Vitamin K2 must be taken with vitamin D3. So, when vitamin K2 dissolves the calcium in soft tissues, the calcium is directed/transported to the bones. 10,000 mg of D3 to 100 mcg of K2 is the ideal dose. Studies have been made on this dynamic of D3 and K2.

Dr Brewer thanks for your KZbin site. We need more doctors like you talking to us, people. I posted a report on my benefits of taking VITAMIN K2 as MK7 some years ago after I had two Stents placed in my LAD. I nearly died from that event, not from placing the Stents, but from a ruptured Lesion into my LAD. Stents saved my life for the moment but then the Heart Surgeon and I had a talk. He talked, I listened. I had never heard of Calcium Plaque before. And I asked if he meant Cholesterol and the doctor said, "No, most plaque is Calcium. Maybe a little Cholesterol mixed with the Calcium Plaque but if you get rid of the Calcium, the Cholesterol goes away." I also asked him if I had taken Statins, which I never took, would the Statins have prevented this. He said, "No, Statins don't do crap." He admitted he didn't take Statins either. And neither does the non-surgeon Cardiologist I visited twice a year. And I wanted to know why didn't all the test I had passed shown this Calcification? The Echo Stress Test, the blood test, the EKGs twice a year, why didn't one of them show I was building Calcium Plaque in my arteries? The doctor showed me some film from the Catheterization procedure. He pointed out the Calcium Lining of my arteries. I found out there are 4 major arteries in the Heart. The central, the LAD, he said was blocked 95% (he called it Stenosis) and the other 3 arteries were blocked at least 60% each. He went on to explain that this Calcification had built obstructions throughout my body in Arteries in my legs, torso, neck, everywhere, and Veins also. All of my blood vessels had some Calcium Plaque. My Heart Surgeon said I had at most, 2 years to live. That conversation took place on June 24, 2013. I asked how I could remove the calcium from my system, what drug removes Calcium. He shook his head and said there was nothing I could do. Sometimes he said they use a tiny diamond drill to clear the calcium from the heart but the procedure is not covered by insurance and cost at least $300,000 because it takes so much time in the OR. So I went home not sad and dejected but determined to find a way to remove the Calcium Plaque. I am a retired Navy and Airline Pilot. I was born in June, 1939. I grew up in Houston, Texas. I wanted very badly to be a Air Force Pilot. I had never heard of Navy Pilots. At 15 years of age I lied about my age and joined the Texas ANG. After High School and attending college for 3 years, the Air Guard Squadron Executive Officer, Major Maurice Westerfield, called me and asked if I still wanted flight training. I said I did and he gave me the phone number of the Navy Recruiters who were looking for candidates. Two weeks later I reported to NAS Pensacola Florida to begin Navy Flight Training. I loved it. Stayed in, flying for the Navy for 21 years. Retired and went to work for Northwest Airlines. I retired from Northwest in June, 1999 when I turned age 60. Now it was June, 2013 and I was dying. I went looking for a solution. My wife had a cousin who was a Deputy Director of the National Institute of Health and he suggested I do some research on their online publication library. I did and I found the answer. A lady scientist from Poland wrote a paper saying the reason we build Calcium Plaque is our lack of Vitamin K2 in our diet. Dr. Katarzyna Maresz, Ph D, of Krakow, Poland, wrote the paper and it was my answer. I could only find 2 studies on Vitamin K2 on the NIH publication site when I found this article. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/26770129/ The other study was the one you found, called the Rotterdam Study which says much the same thing as the Krakow study. But, THIS IS IMPORTANT, if you look today at the NIH publication site you will find more than 2 studies, you will find 4,186 studies and reports of the importance and benefits of taking Vitamin K2. Look at them. And notice the count. When I wrote this on May 30, 2020, there were 4,186 Vitamin K2 studies but that number was increasing at least 4 a week. And notice too that ALL the studies are FOREIGN. No one in the U.S. has the balls to challenge the U.S. Drug Companies and their 20 Billion dollar a year Statin market. The leaders in Vitamin K2 Study are the Dutch, Germans, Norwegians, Italians, Japanese. The Italians think Vitamin K2 is so important for heart health, they are considering infusing Olive Oil with Vitamin K2 to eliminate CVD in Italy. Look at them, read some. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/?term=vitamin+k2&sort=date&size=100 Some reports say that Vitamin K2 absolutely cures Osteoporosis, and Cardiovascular Disease (CVD, Calcium Plaque in Blood Vessels) They are finding links of lack of Vitamin K2 to Diabetes, Parkinson and many other illnesses. But no studies inside the U.S. Based on that study by Dr Maresz, I found retailers of Vitamin k2 as MK7 on Amazon and ordered from three different retailers. I had no way to tell which was more potent. Another thing about Vitamin K2 Dr Brewer missed was the history of the Vitamin. Folk Lore tells the story of Japanese warriors a few hundred years ago having nothing but some rotten (fermented) Soy Beans to eat and that started a tradition that exist today in parts of Japan where they eat Fermented Soy Beans for Breakfast. They call the breakfast food, NATTO. Reports say that those districts in Japan have very little CVD. A typical breakfast helping of NATTO has 1mg of Vitamin K2, MK7. But warning, I have Japanese friends here and in Japan and they all say that if you did not start eating NATTO as a very young child, you will gag if you try it as an adult. But look on Amazon and other sites for bags of fermented Soy Beans packed like peanuts. Japan Airlines, JAL, serves Fermented Soy Beans instead of peanuts on their flights and you can buy them online. I like those. Crunchy and tasty. The breakfast NATTO is slimy, mushy and awful. The Vitamin K2 as MK7 capsules sold on Amazon are usually 100mcg. It takes ten to make 1mg. And I was under a 2-year death sentence. So I started taking 12, 100mcg capsules a day. My brother-in-law and my golfing buddy both had heart problems the same year as me and they both had stents installed in their hearts. So I told them about the studies from NIH and gave them printed copies. They both decided to take the prescribed dose listed on the Vitamin bottle, 200mcg. I took 4 in the morning, 4 in the afternoon and 4 in the evening. CostCo now sells it's own brand of Vitamin K2 for bone and heart health. Their capsules claim they have 184mcg of Vitamin K2, MK7. After about 3 months, I noticed some changes in my body. I had been growing Bright Red Circles of blood under the skin of my leg calves. I asked my family doctor and my Cardiologist what caused them and they both said the same thing. "You are getting old, your small blood vessels become brittle and break and if near the skin you get a big red blotch." I asked them what I could do to stop creating them and they both said the same thing, "nothing." But 3 months after starting my 1mg daily dose of VK2 MK7, they disappeared and I haven't had one since. I also had a problem with Kidney Stones and had been passing them about one a month. I suffered Kidney Stones while still flying before 1999. I participated in a big program at the U of PA medical center to stop passing kidney stones. It didn't help. I had Lithotripsy, a procedure where your kidneys are pounded into mush by sound waves (like SONAR, powerful) to break the kidney stones. Nothing helped till I started taking Vitamin K2. And if you have time go on Amazon and read the thousands of comments left by users of Vitamin K2. They claim cures of CVD, Osteoporosis, Hemorrhoids, and other ailments. The number of sellers of MK7 has increased. There were only three, now there are thirty. I still do not know which is more potent. I wish someone like Dr Brewer would take the time to find out. After 7 months of taking Vitamin K2, I had my first Calcium Score. And my Heart Surgeon graded the Calcium Score. Each of your 4 heart arteries are graded by the amount of Calcium Plaque and the number of Lesions inside your artery wall waiting to burst and kill you. I had a score of 130 for the Cucumiform Artery. The LAD which had been clogged 95% only had the 2 Stents but the doctor who had installed the stents graded it as 970, which is almost completely blocked. I took the film to another Cardiologist in another town because it is a unwritten law that Doctors in the same neighborhood do not disagree. The second doctor said, "There is no Calcium in your LAD. Why do you have those 2 Stents there." The other two arteries which the heart surgeon said were 60 blocked with Calcium Plaque were clean, ZERO. Three more months later, i had my second Calcium Score which is a low energy Heart CT Scan with a special machine that is a very skinny donut shaped machine. It takes 15 seconds and is not at all like a MRI. Your head and shoulders are out one end and your hip and knees are out the other side. And then that same year of the Calcium Scores, all my joint pain that had been diagnosed as arthritis pain, disappeared. I am completely pain free at age 81. Completely.

Doc you should consider doing IF too, doing intermittent fasting along with a healthy diet, lower carb and the Omega 3's are abundant in flaxseeds and chia seeds. K1 and K2, basically those things are all I eat now. I replaced potatoes, grains and rice with kale, asparagus, spinach and mixed green salads. I try eating only from 12 pm to 6 pm to keep insulin low, I've had tremendous positive changes in my health eating less sugar and breads and having more leafy greens. These dietary changes work well with a LCHF or Ketogenic diet. I think we're all slowly learning that it's sugar not healthy fats that are causing these issues. Intermittent fasting you've probably heard about but it's really proven to lower insulin resistance and reduce inflammation along with adding K1 or K2, D3 to the diet. Thanks for your clear and concise information about what is needed to have our future health and avoid a stroke or heart attack.

Interesting to read your post. I had a little scare, been on semi fast for about 8 months (once a week 36hrs) lost 35 lbs, but plateaued, so and recently started an 18/6 to 16/8 IF to that (and slowly dropping again). Need to lose another 25. Took morning blood glucose and it ranges between 99 and 102 even if my carb level is low (recently quit sugar and excess carbs) So technically pre-diabetic.(my scare) Little concerned about accuracy of my meters (I have three, all different readings with about a 10 point spread and the brand I use has an 8% error, according to tests done)) So this is an issue. Are any of them correct and if so which one because at this (99-102) level 10 points changes everything. Wondering if continued LCHF+18/6 KI+K2 will help lower morning blood sugar levels? How did this affect your insulin? (also did research on the most accurate blood glucose meter) and going to buy one today to deal with accuracy issues, and hopefully mine is 8% high.

You user case may be different and I respect that. You seem to be really up on diet. Thanks for your comment. BTW, I'm trying to do many of the things you are doing. I fall down in the IF side, but have cut back meal quantities and eat much better food now. My answer to IF, if you will, is periodic 3-day water fasts. Much easier for me to schedule than IF. Two weeks from now, I have my next fast. Go well.

I found this comment on another video about k2 and d3, what do you think?: I used Vitamin K2 MK7 and Natural Vitamin C to clean 2 of my 4 heart arteries completely of plaque. Previously I had two stents installed in my LAD and while in the Catheterization Lab the Surgeon told me I had severe Calcification of the other 3 arteries at least 65% blocked and the lesions (inflammation) caused by the Calcium block would rupture and probably kill me. I am a 78 year old retired airline pilot and asked what I could do to remove the plaque. The surgeon said there was nothing I could do. But looking on the NIH publication site there were two articles on K2 or Menaquinone as it is called. One from Krakow, Poland and the other from Rotterdam, Amsterdam. Those two countries do not depend on the profit motive drug companies to do their drug studies. The govt and the govt ran universities do the testing. And their researchers proved that Vitamin K2 does remove Calcium from the Arteries and that Calcium mixed with a little cholesterol is the primary blocking agent. it is not Cholesterol alone as the U.S. drug companies want us to believe. And Dr Linus Pauling won 2 Nobel Prizes working with Natural Vitamin C. He said Natural Vitamin C would work like Roto-Rooter removing plaque from our arteries. So I took both. Two Vitamin K2 in the morning, 2 at noon and 2 in the evening. I took K2 as MK7 because the MK7 version stays in our blood stream longer and works better. We do not store Vitamin C or most antibodies in our bodies and must be taken often to have any effect. So each night I mixed 1.5 teaspoons of Natural Vitamin C (not Ascorbic Acid, the orange pill that is not Vitamin C) using Acerola Cherry Powder. I mixed the cherry powder in six bottles of flavored water and drank all six the following day. After 6 months I went to the local hospital for a Calcium Score. My Calcium Score showed two major heart arteries (there are 4) completely clear of plaque. The Surgeon verified they were 65% blocked 6 months prior. The Cardiologist was completely stunned and asked the hospital to check the accuracy of the X-Ray equipment. One other artery has a small amount of calcium plaque and the fourth, the one with the 2 stents still has severe plaque. So I am continuing the self-help treatment and will do another calcium Score in May or June. But a Carotid study of my 2 Carotid arteries showed them completely clean and I have stopped passing Kidney Stones which has been a problem for the past 10 years. And my joint pain is gone. No more hip, neck, shoulder, back pain. I no longer have to take strong opoids for pain and I can return to playing golf and fishing again. Vitamin K2 MK7 and Natural Vitamin C has restored my life. There are lots of venders of Acerola Cherry Powder which is rich in Natural Vitamin C on Amazon. One teaspoon has 300 mg. And there are lots of sellers of Vitamin K2 MK7 on Amazon. Pick your own, I have left some reviews of the products I use but have no doubt that they are all the same. Good luck. And get YOUR CALCIUM SCORE.

Thanks for sharing that. It’s an interesting story. I think most of us fail to recognize that calcium is a result, not a cause. Plaque is also a result. Damage to the intima (endothelial lining of the artery) is closer to a cause, but in turn usually caused by high glucose & insulin.

Natto, a fermented soybean food popular in Japan, is a plant based source of K2, and what is most commonly used in K2 supplements. I’ve also heard K2 is found in lesser quantity in fermented veggies like Kimchi and Sauerkraut... K2 is largely the product of bacterial ferment.

@agelessglory98285 жыл бұрын
Vitamin C deficiency is the reason for a lot of calcification because be body tries to repair itself so if you're deficient in vitamin C make sure you're taking that. Also D3 and K2 work beautifully together they make sure that the body gets the vitamin A needs and that it's placed where it needs to go. Thank you for sharing this important information I think a lot of people rely too much on medication that tries to fix one problem and then causes 20 others.

My hubby had his CAC/angiogram and discovered he has at medium risk of heart attack within the next 10 yrs. I had just a CAC test alone and found to have a calcium score of 1, so although not perfect, pretty good. We made changes in our diet and have abolished all the bad carbs (keto diet) and also taking a D3/K2 supplement along with magnesium, krill oil and CoenzymeQ10. We haven't had a check up since three months or so after the changes, but then there were very positive improvements in both of our cholesterol tests, with no other medication, to which our Dr remarked, "What ever you're doing - keep doing it!" It will be interesting to see how we are progressing. I know, as a runner, the first sign of improvement for me, was going from an average speed of 6 and a half minutes per kilometre, to an average of 5 and a half minutes per kilometre with the same or better HR and improvement in VO2 Max. Also I lost the 5 kilos of weight I could never previously shed, no matter what I did and hubby has lost a considerable amount of weight also, but still has a bit to lose and it's hard to get him to exercise. I have to work hard on him to keep him on track. I keep reminding him that we are doing this for his heart and not for his looks. I don't want him to drop dead of heart attack. I hope the K2 and change of diet are reducing his risk. Must check up on that again soon. We started keto in January of 2019.

It’s amazing how the medical community confuses and conflates vitamin K1 and K2. Sure the are molecularly similar however they are actually molecularly different and act very differently. Simply, D3 is a Ca transporter from the gut to bloodstream. K2 is a Ca allocator (from the bloodstream to the bones and teeth). Without it, Ca ends up in the wrong places, like arteries.

Here is my story.I'm 69 years old now,when I was 47 my left arm was going numb. I heard that wasn't a good sign of heath. I made a conscious decision that if I wanted to regain my heath I would need to do something different. I did many things different over many years. When I was 60 I wasn't still in all that great of heath. I can remember that waking up my ankles would be stiff in the morning. I wasn't sure of I could fix that problem or not.I joined the gym and worked out for 4 years straight and had sore muscles just about every day. I started lifting weights . The weights felt like my bones might break . I took lots of vitamins and K2 was one of them. I lost 50 pounds and got my body fat to under 10% ..I used a weight scale that checks your body fat..Now at 69 my stiff joints are non-existent..as far as my plaque I have no idea.. so as far as the K2 effect I can't really say for sure..but what I noticed in my overall health was when I got my body fat under 10%....and my weight was 142 for a while..I believe it was just a combination of things that brought me back from the grave..I'd say the hardest part was losing the weight and getting my body fat down under 10 percent..the reason I was trying to get my body fat down was I read somewhere that body fat stores toxins.. when I got under 10 percent I believe the fat released the toxins and went to other parts of my body which caused some problems temporarily.. I raise my own chickens which means I eat lots of eggs, and hopefully is good for my health..I understand this is anecdotal evidence and has a number of potential weaknesses..I made a video a while back to see how many push up I could do now that I don't work out any more. I was able to do 30 at the age of 68.

A tear in the artery needs to exist in order for calcification to start. Vitamin C is the major repair mechanism but as Vit C uses the same receptors as glucose and we all eat glucose 24/7 Vit C cannot function. I have found taking vitamin K2 supplements to be very beneficial. I always used to have a lot of plaque build-up on the back of my bottom teeth; however, since taking K2, I hardly have any! And I found it cleared away a lot of the plaque build-up that I had previously had. My dentist noticed that my teeth needed less of a scale and polish, and commented on it. I am not a doctor, but it seems to me that if K2 can clear calcification from the teeth, then it is probably doing it in my arteries too. I should also add that I take vitamin D3 supplements too. Now, I get far, far better blood pressure readings since taking these supplements regularly, too.

I have managed to reduce my BP significantly in recent times. I used to have extremely high BP, which no doctor was able to bring down satisfactorily. It would come down temporarily, then bounce back up again. I believe I have mastered it. I am getting extremely good BP readings day after day. How have I done it? With a combination of supplements and with a total change of diet. I have cut out almost all sugars. I eat plenty of vegetables and enough fruit. I try to eat five vegetables each evening for dinner. And I finish my meal with fresh fruit. I don't touch anything processed (though I never did much anyway). I eat all natural foodstuffs. I steam all my vegetables; and I eat two meals a day, not three. Though I do eat a banana late afternoon for potassium. The supplements I would recommend are fish oils, including cod liver oil, turmeric, vitamin D3, vitamin K2, selenium, garlic, Co-Q10, chromium, zinc, and lots of magnesium. I never take any calcium supplements. We get plenty of that in our diet. Too much calcium drives up your BP. I do not restrict my salt intake; but I do not eat table salt. I use Celtic sea salt and/or Himalayan pink salt. They are full of trace minerals. For the heart to function properly, minerals are essential. That's why doctors check one's electrolytes. I still take my meds from the doctor, but what has done the trick are the dietary changes and the supplements. Each day, my BP is now around the 120/80 mark, and frequently lower than that! Good luck with your elevated BP. If there's anything else you need to ask, don't hesitate. I'm more than willing to share my experience with anyone suffering from high blood pressure. I suffered with it for years; and no doctor could get a handle on it. I had to find out for myself - the hard way.

I bought Milk Thistle, Turmeric and Ginger the other day to add into the mix since I'm trying to reduce inflamation and increase function of my liver. My Blood pressure has gone down since starting Keto in May with 132/89. It was 128/80 end of July and last night at annual checkup it was 126/60. Since May I've done Fasting and Keto+IF.

You're most welcome! Since I have changed my eating habits and cut out certain things like spirits--now, I drink only red and some white wine, depending on what I'm eating--I am getting BP readings I could only have dreamt of before. For example, my reading today was 117/85 with a pulse of 69. Before, even taking meds, my BP would be in the stratosphere. I have had two solid months now with all BP readings hovering around the 120/80 mark, and often lower than that. I put it down to the supplements I take, and to the fact that I have cut out all sugars and processed foods (though I never ate many processed foods anyway), and to eating many vegetables each evening, and some fruits in place of ice creams and other decadent desserts. I have proved that diet makes all the difference. I am satisfied with the way I now eat; and I wouldn't go back to the old way, which was much richer and clearly far less healthy.

I'"m a firm believer that most of the problems we have in our bodies have to do with a deficiency of some mineral of Vitamin. I wish all Drs would be taught more about this and focus on that first before they be their "Drs of Medicine." This is further truth that the Ketogenics diet is great for heart health based on what levels of K2 in the foods Keto eat.
@kenneth61023 жыл бұрын
Deficiency of minerals and vitamins is also relative to excess of carbs and other toxins. The danger of that idea is, again, the illusion of solution in one magic pill. As the doc has pointed out multiple times, the actual solution is the adaptation of a scientifically healthy lifestyle. The only problem is that, with all the misinformation created by industries, it is very difficult to know what is actually healthy and unhealthy.

So what is causing it if YOU DON'T have high insulin levels?
@theRealJohnErtel5 жыл бұрын
@@empress_highpriestess3307 How would you know you didn't have high insulin levels? It's not a standard test. Most doctors give glucose tolerance tests. Even if your blood glucose returns normal it doesn't mean your insulin level is. My glucose tests are normal but my insulin level is not. My insulin level is normal when fasting but high when I consume carbs. Unless you're taking an insulin test done over hours (not a fasting insulin), you can't know that your insulin isn't high. Odds are if you eat a non low carb diet and you're not very young that your insulin is probably high when you eat. That does damage over years even if you never become diabetic.

I was a EDTA chelation therapy nurse for years. I did it myself thats what's saved me up till now in my mid 60's! I do have what they call spotty blockage. I cannot afford the IV therapy I see to give. I used to get it free working at the clinics over the years. But I am doing it sublingual. I got 600mg EDTA and do a formula. Under tongue. I can tell a difference plus doing the K2. And a few other things. My cardiologist was at Yale. I moved after many years lose to 30 being In Connecticut and NYC. I had 3 arterial-grams over those years along with 3 major back surgeries with two new artificial discs. Doing better but left me with drop foot and a lot of nerve damage. 3 nerve induction tests. Painful.... MRIs PT etc etc.... but coin out the other end doing better. Until wife wanted a divorce after 30 years... stressed me out. Coming out the other side on that now but started some bad habits because of stress. Nevertheless working on it. I'd better. Nothing too bad but bad enough. I'm around younger people in their 40's I cannot do what they do. I had my time. I only do one thing.... anyway I'm working on clearing up this blockage. I noticed this was old don't know how I missed it. But I also inhale H202 mist 11:1 35%. So really using what I picked up over the years for myself. Walking is all I can about for here days in exercise. But going to do more hopefully. What do you think about chelation therapy and the Subq EDTA? I've seen it work. That's why I am doing it. Like I said I feel the difference already. I have a formula and schedule but don't want to get accused of practicing medicine without a doctors/practitioner license. First I would like to THANK YOU for your always balanced, not ideological, unbiased, evidence based, and no-nonsense perspective and discussions around health prevention. Very, very helpful and a great contribution for many people :-) Now to the topic: From what I learned from your great videos, properly calcified, not too big plaque with little risk for rupture isn't the main cause for life-threatening incidents. I have a soft plaque stenosis (40-50%) in one spot of my right corotid artery and due to the fact that I have only 160 mg cholesterol, a BMI of 19 and a very low carb intake (since 35 years) and a healthy diet I rejected to take statins (Atorvastatin). The amount of statins needed for a reversal seems to me way too high for the implied risk factors. My general calcification level is low (although I have a genetic burden, I am 60 years old). So my question is: What helps best to reduce the soft plaque level naturally (or with supplements). In other words, how soft plaque can be reversed or at least stopped from getting further accumulated. And how it can be stabilized for not breaking away and wander into the brain? I assume this issue should always be the first priority (before thinking about calcification) since a dangerous calcified plaque (with an underlying chronically inflamed tissue) might occur only if there was already (first) a soft plaque (which got covered over time for protection).
@PrevMedHealth6 жыл бұрын
The major impact is getting your blood glucose consistently below 120. Unless you’ve done a lot of finger sticks & CGM (continuous glucose monitoring), you don’t know your routines. And I hate to tell you, statins do help slow it down I wouldn’t take Lipitor. Only cery low does Crestor (

Many people experience very serious cardiovascular issues when they take K2 MK7 daily. The issues are high blood pressure, chest pains, heart palpitations. MK7 has very long half life in serum and builds up if taken daily. Many people including me can't tolerate this. On the other hand, MK4 very quickly goes into soft tissues and doesn't cause such cardiovascular issues. After a short time of supplementation with MK4 (2 mg or higher daily), you notice reduction of tartar on teeth, teeth whitening, clearance of sinuses, enhancement of libido. I never saw these effects with MK7. Furthermore, most research done on bone health have used MK4. It is very unfortunate that the guy in the video fails to emphasize on MK4.

The thing with K2 is that is re-directs the Calcium to the places it belongs (bones and teeth). It's especially needed for those taking D3 supplements (something my MD didn't bother to tell me when he put me on D3 - I no longer go to that MD). For taking care of the arteries I would recommend using a really good Vitamin C (not Ascorbic Acid, but real organic full spectrum Vitamin C). Standard Process is what I use...Cataplex C and Cyruta. Those used together (in conjunction with taking a good source of D3 and K2 M-7) is Roto-Rooter for the arteries (as it has been told and sold to me by various studies on the matter). As for the 2009 study, I think the topic is approached from a limited point of view. The idea that removing calcium will cause a sudden rupture of plaque in the bloodstream may be false. Whether K2, magnesium, or apple cider vinegar or a combination of them is used to decalciify tissues, the body would likely achieve this from the outside-in, at least with respect to arteries. Fibrinogen would likely be whittled away as well as some of the fatty deposits. There is an intelligence in the body which tends to regulate these things.
