The way he tells this story on his podcast is so detailed and descriptive. Sammy took out the hitman of the hitmen in the Mafia. Johnny told Sammy how to do the hit (once he was captured) since Johnny knew Sammy had to do it because it was a brought down by the commission. Sammy succeeded getting to him when this war was going on. Nobody else could touch Johnny and Johnny respected Sammy for even outsmarting him. This is probably one of Sammy’s most emotional stories. It’s so chilling yet there is empathy and sympathy from Sammy.

I had a run in with this man during the 80s. Was actually dating a girl who's father was part of the Gambinos. We broke up an she wouldn't leave me alone, slashed my tires multiple times, broke my car an house windows ect. The last time I called her house of course pissed off and a man answered the phone ( her father). We had some words an I hung up. 3 days later I'm going to walk inside my house when Sammy an 2 other guys approached. At the time I had zero idea this girls father was who he was even though he made some pretty serious threats. I was basically told look if we wanted you we would of already had you, call that girl again for ANY reason an next time we won't be talking. Scared the shit out of me. It wasn't until years later when he was all over the news did I realize who I talked to outside my apartment that night. 😳

Honestly if this impacted him as much as he says it did, this quite possibly could be what lead him to being the rat, because he started to question whether he was really about that life or not, and it could of quite possibly made it easier for him to accept that he isn't that brave.

I guess it's possible but he really details it in his autobiography. His becoming a "rat" was based pretty much entirely on John Gotti trying to put a hit on him and another member whose name escapes me, when the three of them were locked up and Sammy was saying nothing to nobody. John was already a piece of shit in his eyes at that point, but sinking even lower to kill a dude who did so much dirty shit for you...AND made you your fortune? It wasn't a tough decision and who could blame him? More than anything, Sammy is practical. Multiple fbi, lawyers, etc have all said he was one of the few that lived and breathed that life. While others would be out every night with their side pieces, partying and shit, Sammy was home with his family. Up every morning at 5 to go to the gym and then working his construction crews all day. lol the fbi dudes that had to tail him said it was the most boring tail ever, he never broke routine, but did send them meals basically every day, which i always found to be both hilarious and respectful. It says a lot that he didn't have any ill will towards even the FEDs. Wasn't until Gotti lost his fucking mind and was gonna just have Sammy killed just in case he wasn't willing to do the time....while even the gov't were pretty convinced he'd never say shit. Definitely read his book if you get the chance. Audiobook was good too. Sad he ended up in that ugly life, and even when he did, he ran multiple extremly successful legitimate businesses. Only to give the $$ to Gotti, who was a degenerate gambler, and then losing those businesses directly because of Gotti's pettiness

They’re not all sociopaths. If you grow up into violence it’s just second nature. You become indifferent to horrific things. You watch brutality all your life, it becomes you. I’m sure many of them have mental disorders but the true sociopath, imo, is the one who grows up in warmth and love and can kill without any regret or pain. No empathy towards those they hurt. That’s a true sociopath. For the most part, they are who they were molded to become.

@@emeyeare no problem bro. I know Gravano and Franzese had quite a heated exchange in the past about cooperating with the government. Thought you might be thinking of that as background to your comment. Doesn't matter though. I do get the sense that Franzese is a genuine guy about turning his life around and over to God and helping others these days. I don't believe he ever had to kill. Sammy is really in a totally different league than Franzese when it comes to hardcore gangster violence. I get the sense that maybe Michael's father Sonny, who was a notorious hit guy, may have been able to keep him a little "protected" in terms of getting orders for hits. Also, Michael during his gas tax scam, was bringing in the kind of money that the old timers couldn't even fathom and they wanted to keep him as clean as possible. Take care Emeye Are.

There were comments complimenting mike for all those low blow things mike was saying…ironically right after mike said most of those things I mentioned and said he shouldn’t have said those things but very good observations man.
