Just needed a sentence or two about why vBoost. John Jones was pretty close with his comment when he mentioned air flow. vBoost allows for stronger vacuum and intake velocity through the single carb at low rpms, translating to better response and cleaner fueling. However, a carb optimized for that performance wouldn't give you the kind of big breathing you need for big horsepower numbers the Vmax makes when it's wound up to 9000rpm. Vboost offers the best of both worlds. Good video!

Concise. Thanks.

vboost is a simple and effective design.

hi. i recently installed a remote start alarm system. this means that if i remotelg start it, it will not wait for the vbosst buzz priming up. you think its ok?

do all vmax bikes have vboost? foes the 2001 1200cc have it?
@teamhuber6 жыл бұрын
Yes. If it was a "full power" version.. There are a couple variations sold in Europe.

I have an 06 Vmax, NO V- Boost , I was told the 06s didn't get a Vboost , but it runs hard and fast.
@johnjones36488 жыл бұрын
+Philip Farruggio Not true. Not all versions sold outside the USA have v boost, but 2006 did offer it.

Just buy a used Vboost and put it on. Gives you 45 more hp. Easy to install

Yes, there's a YT video where an English fellow reviews a NON-V-boost version. For a while, England made it either impossible or more expensive (can't remember which) to import bikes producing over 100 HP. Then they got smart and allowed any power level. On the used market, the V-boost versions go for much more money.

@@JT-fd3tf Not sure about the power limit import thing, we didn't get the V Max sold new here till 91 (i'm in Scotland), years before that were imports (so unrestricted), the 91 bikes were non V Boost so 95bhp (lord knows why ?), we didn't get the full fat Max till 96. Japanese bikes were low power too, they also had a speed limiter fitted. I'm looking for one right now so doing my research as i'll need to watch what i'm buying, there is a nice 95 for sale but Jap import so i suspect it will be low power, or a 2000 UK bike which is certain to be Full power.

In your world maybe. I have mine set open. small retune on carbs. NO loss in low end power in fact there is even more. Mine is an 85 and still belts out that hemi power.

2x4 Barrels I bought new a 1985 Vmax wish I still had it. I think it was the best looking year after that they starting putting things on it I didn’t care for like Vmax emblem on the side cover mine was stamped in the metal, I think they added some gold trimming somewhere then they changed the scoops instead of the metal brushed look they painted them then they made them two scoops per side and then they made a oval headlight. 1985 was the best!! 👍

More carbs at high RPM= more better.

Vboost is fuckin rocket powered Asian witchcraft. But its sooooo fast.

The switch that allows the V Boost to be activated from idle (keeps the butterfly valves open) is a total waste of money. The engine simply cannot handle that much fuel with such little air flow at rpm levels under 6,000. It actually detracts from the power since the engine runs so rich. This is a great tutorial, by the way. Thanks for posting!

+John Jones I agree but, if you are running a dynojet stage1 kit, & good set of slip-ons or full exhaust system (not the cobras in this video -10hp by the way, jet all you want it wont help). Once the bike is warmed up the bike has a gorgeous lumpy idle and will lay rubber for a block and burn 3 gallons in 65 miles! awesome I have my wife's Vmax setup like this and it rocks!

+Waynevmax Mine is programmable with a 3 position switch. On at idle and above, off completely, and on at 6,000 RPM as if stock. I usually run it on all the time in position one if I want to show off in town. (Love the lumpy exhaust sound.) Turn it off if on a long trip. Turn to position three for informal racing. These are still amazing bikes and will easily beat my son's modified Kawasaki Z1000 and my other son's Speed Four in straight line racing.

I do the same! 3 pos switch I'm making some more of the modules now.
