As a life long Abba-fan, I still can`t believe this is actually happening. Hearing those voices again, sounding amazing as always. And the fact that their approach to singing those harmonies is a little more loose only makes it better. They are older now, it doesn`t have to be just so. They are a little more laid back, maybe. And it`s okay. How can these ladies sound that good at that age? The lyrics are as brilliant as ever. Many layers one can find hiding in them. Beautiful.

I get emotional every time. I loved Abba all those decades ago, back in my teens. Now, in my mid-50s, I find myself with tears in my eyes listening to these new ones now. It is wonderful. How is music able to do this? It is more that just music however, it is the flood of nostalgia that comes with it, and the feelings associated with another time in our lives, listening to something we loved at that time, and not expecting to ever be hit that way again. At least, that is my attempt to explain what I struggle to put into words. Thank you, Anni-Frid, Benny, Bjorn and Agnetha.

The first one that got me when I listened on Spotify was “don’t shut me down” because it’s a little simpler (even if not even the simple songs with ABBA are too simple). Then I went to the videos and felt so geeky, crying, smiling, laughing, all at the same time when I listened to “I still have faith in you”. My favorite was still “don’t shut me down “ tho, but “Do I have it in me” has been growing on me ever since, and now I can’t stop listening to it! 😅 I agree with what was said about the arrangements. They are so perfectly thought through. All the small things. The theme from “Do I have it in me” showing up over and over, in both lead vocals, backing vocals, guitars, whistles, strings aso. It gets the theme line to get literally stuck in your head before the song is over. I think those are two masterpieces and even if none of the rest are half as good, they’re still gonna be good enough. This has got me to smile for days now. It’s incredible how music can affect the day! Thank you ABBA for that, and really good job @Nina_Schofield analyzing the two songs, best analyze this far!!! 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻

When writing just changing one note bringing it forwards or back can change the entire phrase. The smallest of changes can turn an average song into something wonderful. Abba are masterful in their writing and they use really nice chords that we never hear much in music anymore. Abba always sounded like a music theatre/pop band to me. They never tried to fit into any format or music style that was popular at any given time. They were always true to themselves and allowed themselves to sound as they naturally were. It's such a relief they haven't tried to modernise Abba or attempt to sound 'current'. I am sure they could pull that off no problems but remaining true to themselves is the right choice.

Hello Nina, I wouldn’t say I was a huge fan of ABBA but I do have ‘ABBA Gold’ and I think it’s an excellent album; I remember them from about 1977 onwards. I thought the video to ‘I Still Have Faith In You’ was really nostalgic and I can see why it would be emotional. The song itself is a little bit mawkish but having said that I still like it. The vocals are really good despite their voices having aged. The second song ‘Don’t Shut Me Down’ is another good song although I have had to listen to both a few times to like them. I’m not sure which one I like more but I could happily listen to both of them again. One last thing, I think it is a shame that KZbin are blocking videos like yours; presumably for Copyright infringement. It is clear that you are not trying to pass off ABBA’s music as your own work. You are simply reviewing the music from a technical perspective; which you do really well. When I heard ABBA’s new songs and heard the vocal performance I did wonder how a vocal coach would react to it. As I said I thought the vocals were fine and I’m glad you think so too. Anyway Nina, despite what KZbin do keep up the good work.

I'm a life long ABBA fan having listened to them since the mid-70's and always harboured the diminishing hope they would write more music. For me, listening to these tracks during the launch event was extremely poignant and emotional, however, It amazes me how so many people have expressed such similar emotions when hearing this new ABBA music, even those who are way too young to have experienced it first time around. I think this tells us all we need to know about this wonderful band, that they appeal to all generations. Loved your reaction and the emotion it evoked in you.

I was born a little after their split and I've known their most famous songs forever, but only really started actively listening to them in my late 20s. So I'm not an actual fan, but I do enjoy their music a lot (and obviously I've dance to Dancing Queen a thousand times). That being said, listening to the new songs has been emotional and moving for me as well and I often reflect on how extremely exciting it must have been for the true fans who've followed Abba since their heyday. I'm excited for them/you all!

@@jsmorales I think that's the 'take away' from this - I've seen other big groups reform and write new music through the years but it's never really generated an emotional response in me like this has. It genuinely surprised me to suddenly be aware my eyes were watering up when I heard this new music and now I'm seeing similar responses from reaction videos from all age groups. It's remarkable how much impact these four Swedes have on everyone.
