Her duet with Shoshana Bean of When You Believe from Prince of Egypt, even though done during the pandemic from two sides of the ocean is truly remarkable.

Great reaction Sam, and indeed, how have you not done more of her? Cynthia is the greatest singing actor Britain has produced since Julie Andrews (arguably ever) - and no, Elaine, I was not forgetting you, so calm down and deal with it. Cynthia is simply one of our greatest vocalists _period._ Yet she has barely begun. We need to celebrate her in the UK much, much more, or we'll lose her to America forever! My recommendation is Cynthia on home turf, and with a gorgeous full orchestra, singing Aretha's _Ain't No Way_ at the BBC Proms, live from the Prince Albert Ring. Piercing, is the word. You will believe Ms Franklin walks among us once again! Or that you're dead & gone to heaven. There is also an incredible backing vocalist. The whole concert is a joy - you should watch it whether react to it or not, because it's sumptuous, and she gets to relax and have fun singing some of her favourite music. _Did you know?_ Cynthia is the daughter of a single parent first generation immigrant Nigerian nurse, and grew up on a council estate in Stockwell, South London? Her talent was first spotted by a teacher on one of those summer holiday youth diversionary programme drama workshops, who later practically chained her to a table and made her write an application to RADA, where she won a scholarship. The Colour Purple was her first big gig out of drama school, although really it was quite a small gig, being produced at a diminutive off-West End theatre called The Chocolate Factory. However when the show transferred to New York, the director insisted on taking his Miss Celie with him, and so Ms Erivo had her Broadway debut - for which she won practically the only Tony that year that didn't go to Hamilton! As a South Londoner myself, living less than a mile from where she grew up, I never met the woman, there's a lot of people, okay? But I am nevertheless _ridiculously_ proud of her. Yet most people in Britain have no idea who she is, outside of the LGBTQ community, where thankfully devotees of Dorothy continue to flourish. I mean, she was on Graham Norton, but everyone is pissed when they watch that, and until someone has been in two or three times, they don't really remember. How often nowadays do we hear this kind of music, with this kind of production on TV? Back in the day singers like Shirley Bassey, Petula Clarke and Tom Jones would have specials or maybe even their own series, broacast at prime time to big audiences. Even Cilla Black, whose own _Alfie_ was the theme song for the eponymous film starring Michael Caine, had her own series predicated on her singing skills, rather than a just a lorra lorra lot of laffs. Television, the economics of music production, and tastes have all changed, of course; but if we can't enjoy and celebrate people like Cynthia, as they should be enjoyed, then how will we produce new little Cynthias? Will we be doomed to endless films of musicals with actors who can't _really_ sing? ( _You know who you are... _ ) Will we return to the Britain of the 18th and 19th centuries, that produced practically no music to speak of (I'll give G&S a pass, but I have to be in the mood ...) and had to rely on European imports such as Handel? Will we simply have to emigrate to the Phillipines? I don't know, and I don't want to! So let's hear it for Cynthia! And, finally, as we finally near to the end of this long, _wonderful_ comment, I'd like to say a very special thank you to two very special gentlemen, and two of my closest friends in 'the businessc'; the writers of tonight's beautiful music, composer Mr Burt Bacharach, and lyricist Mr Hal David! Even though they are both dead now, I know that somewhere in musical heaven, they have both been thrilled to hear Cynthia singing their song so beautifully. Oddly enough, I've never heard Dionne's version, but I'm sure it was better than Cilla's, and I'll be giving it a spin just as soon as I can get hold of a copy! Thank you, everyone, and good night.

In Disney’s Pinocchio the fairy was called the blue fairy, also in the 70’s Gina lollobrigida did the role in a live action movie she too was called the blue fairy

Absolutely an amazing tribute to Dionne! I like how she kept close to the original yet made it her own. She has such skill and technique. I love how she enunciates her consonants like Dionne does. This song gives me chills!!

did you realize that she is nominated for two Oscars? if she wins one--she will achieve EGOT status (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony award recipients); and will be the youngest . Elton John just achieved that status as the 19th EGOT.
