on the big scream before the violin comes in, it's actually Eli on the highest note. super high clean notes hurt him, so he's not fond of those, but with metal screams he's more comfortable. Geoff actually said during the premiere that Eli was the one who chose to do it that way, it wasn't written like that in the arrangement. guess Eli just felt it needed it 😄

As great as the performance is (and it's spectacular), Geoff's arrangement is the star here. He gets better and better with his arrangements.

I just have to add that it's now been a little more than 3 years since Geoff's E1 at the end of Oogie Boogie's Song blew everyone's mind. I love that he's still the first to say that the goal is not to sing lower, but sing better, and the suppleness which he now displays as he sweeps back and forth between chest voice and harmonics shows that he definitely follows his own advice: "Practice, practice, practice!"

Jen if it took an hour to discuss a song I would be with you the whole hour. Keep doing what you do. You make my day brighter. Thank you from NE England.

That moment when Jen's brain returned the 404 error during the violin section was priceless.

This is my absolute favorite Metallica song and I was really torn when I saw the notification for the video premier. On one hand, I was skeptical because... well... it's a slow song, but it's still a "metal" song. On the other, I really didn't want to be skeptical because they've proven me wrong on so many levels (i.e. "In the Hall of the Mountain King"), so I knew they would probably kill it. I was unfortunately at work during the premier, but I watched it during my break and nearly cried. I immediately sent it to my dad who isn't the BIGGEST acapella fan, but he absolutely LOVED it. They just... they keep blowing my mind and it's given me such a hope for more music like this because I've lost hope on the radio and I keep listening to the same 60s-80s (sometimes 90s) songs (not that there's anything wrong with it) with the occasional band like Twenty One Pilots or Greta Van Fleet thrown in.

It occurs to me that Cesar’s unnatural stillness kind of sets the mood for the song-most songs are full of his natural ebullience, and here we see right away this really somber body language and expression. He’s not even snapping, when everybody else is doing it somewhere in the song. I kept feeling like something might be wrong, but after you commented on it, it hit me this is probably deliberate. Just because of Cesar, those of us who know Voiceplay see right away that there’s something new going on here. Seems like his gestures, too, are placed in certain spots for a reason. Like where he goes full body scream/belt-right when that violin appears-and then he’s far more active through the solo, and back to somber as things slow down. Now you have me obsessing-Ima have to go back and just watch him!

I laughed so hard when you said "dude", because the same thing happened when The Charismatic Voice (Elizabeth) reacted to this 😆 and you are not the only one to get teary-eyed over parts of this cover, for me it tends to happen at a different place every time I listen to it ❤

Ahhh Jennifer I have been looking forward to you reaction to this in my opinion masterful cover from VoicePlay. Great analysis and insight as always Well done. Five seconds in you were already starting to pull faces, 30 and you were trying to do a Geoff low note, and from there it was just a joy to watch. The momentary confused expression with the rhythmic games they boys played with half way through, Eli "breaking you'' not to mention the "no Jennifer no" had me grinning ear to ear bordering on bursting into laughter.

Cesar's eye contact is partially so good because half the time they had a tablet with his lines next to the camera. He couldn't remember the order of onsets, ie. mmm/hmm/uuh/etc. he was supposed to mouth along to

This is my new VP favorite. The song just gets better and better as they go. And trust me Jen we are all perfectly ok with you taking 40 minutes. I love hearing you take the time to really break it down, you hear things I never notice till you do and I appreciate it more. You and Peter are the best reactors on KZbin, and a great singing duo I might add!

This one has broken everyone who has watched and listened to it. Then vioLayne came in and broke us again. I cried with the original and I cried again with this cover. So amazing. Loved the reaction Jen.
