Volvo 242 Abandoned in the wood

At the beginning of 2024 we found a bunch of Volvos in the woods of rural GA. A friend of mine who shared the location with me really wanted this green 242. Unfortunately, so did! He bought the car and took it home so we didn't film any of the early stages of the car. Fast forward a couple months, 2 weeks after I brought home the yellow 142s, my friend reached out and asked if I would buy the green 242 from him.

The cut wires behind the center console look to be from the stereo which uses that 9-pin square connector.

If you have a junk B230 chrysler ignition harness, you can splice in the 1984-on distributor plug, then use the ignition box and distributor from the 244. That way, you can see if the LH 2.0 stuff does actually work or if the ECU is fried, which might be partly why it was parked.

I have thought about that or the bosch ignition unit from a kjet. Need to figure something out!

@@DeanofMachines I do know that LC4CARL ran Bosch Breakerless with the LH 2.2 setup on his '87 245 when he installed the B21FT. Worked well.

@@john242ti its a super basic ignition system. I imagine it worked great!

@@DeanofMachines yep, pretty much. Just had to be careful of boost situations, since no knock sensor. LH 2.0 can be used in a turbo application, just like the newer systems. Just need to add the resistor pack, some greentop injectors, then replace the mopar ignition stuff with the EZK-102K box, knock sensor, and wiring from the 1984 760T. Turns 2.0 into 2.1, but with the cube relays, instead of the white system relay.
