Before recommending a car I would suggest that you check out the dealer network, how close they are to your home, what servicing and parts inventory they have. BYD currently has only about 36 dealers in the UK. The nearest to me is nearly 25 miles away. That may not seem much in Australian terms but in the UK most brands have far more dealers. MG have far more delaers and claim to have a high spare parts inventory.

I don't get this obsession with range. For the 5 months I have owned by BYD Seal I have only done one journey 1000+km where I had to use public chargers. My daily use is exactly the same as the Honda Civic I had 10 years previous except I plug the car in whenever I get home....the battery rarely drops below 80% and is full at the start of each day. The 1000+km road trip I drove for 1.5 to 2 hours...about 100 to 150 kms then stopped at a charging station for a break and coffee...20 mins on a 50KWcharger is about 100 km so the battery SOC was over 90% when we were back on the road after the break. Same again 1.5 to 2 hours later arriving at our destination 500 kms from the start with a 60% battery....If my BYD Seal had an option for a bigger battery, I wouldn't want it...a realistic 480km range is fine (BYD claim 650km which is a bit optimistic). Here in Thailand there are chargers every where and the sat nav rarely indicated more than 40 km from the next one.

Now if the rest of the world could hear your testimony. I'm with ya 100%. For some reason completely psychological everyone has been obsessing on 5% of the problem. Whereas your situation is the norm and that's what I am basing my EV. I had a standard range Ioniq 5 with 300 km which was a little light as we live out of town and a hilly area. About 400 km or 500 km is plenty. 500 gets us to Vancouver no problem through two mountain passes.

SAM! We all know Evs are improving, EV batteries are improving, any company can make a EV with whatever range they want. The REAL question is can they do it profitably? So is Voyah making a profit or a loss on this vehicle? If it is a loss, and the company can't fix that, what guarantee is there that the company will be around in future years? Do you want to buy a EV and then a few years later find out the company went bust. NO. Profitability is enormously important, and to my knowledge Tesla is the ONLY company making pure EVs, profitably. BYD makes money, but that is from hybrids. So quality of vehicle needs to be good, range needs to be good, and company health needs to be good. If any one of these is unknown, then buy at your own risk.
@lifeliver90004 ай бұрын
If you take into consideration the flux the market is in, fossil car manufactures aren’t making profits either. It’s a time of shake up in the industry. Who can make the best cars at the best price and hold on the longest will win big time. Dominating the world with a huge payday. Fossil car manufacturers don’t make a profit for many years when starting up which investors know when they buy in no different from EV companies. There are many cars out there whose manufacture isn’t around anymore. Not sure the issue maybe you are thinking warranty. So safer to buy a EV that has less moving parts and low maintenance rather than Nissan, Mitzi etc who could go bust leaving you with a high maintenance vehicle

How many days of the year on average do you road trip? is having a battery (the most expensive and environmentally damaging part of an EV) that can go 500 instead of 400 miles a big game changer? how often will you use that extra 20% of battery? maybe once a year? 300 miles is solid and would suffice for nearly all roadtrips minus literally new york to LA, at which point it adds 20% of time to the trip, oh no! 400 should cover literally every situation imaginable in the USA. stop complaining about dumb sht. theres a reason tesla averages around 300 mile batteries.... thats all you need almost 100% of the time

As BEV cars age and are damaged we can expect it to trend up; but hard to figure it'll grow two orders of magnitude to be worse than gas.
