Walther PDP Full Size 9mm

I have the full size Walther PDP and is my favorite shooter. I was at the range the other day and I just completed a full magazine as dump as fast as I could. The Range Officer stopped by after I finished, looked at my target and asked what I was shooting. I showed him my Walther and he goes, yup I see why you can shoot that fast. The Walther’s trigger and ergonomics is the real deal!

I've had similar experiences at our local range with the earlier PPQ. Folks coming up after I've drilled on triple taps wondering what modifications/trigger I have in my "Glock.". They're a bit embarrassed to find it isn't a Glock for one, and it's an Out Of Box Trigger with no mods for two. Even more embarrassing is I'm running .40 S&W not 9mm, and it has a bit more recoil impulse and still times right there with the 9s per the shot timer.

I've had my PDP Compact for 2 years now. The grip ergonomics is the best I've felt on any handgun and the trigger is very good as you mentioned. 👍

The PDPs predecessor, the PPQ M2 is the only pistol I can consistantly triple tap with. Best out of Box trigger ever produced.

@@Jughandler12 my PPQ was my first striker fired gun. I really resisted going to any Striker fire until I shot my son's Duty PPQ at the range. Luckily, his Sheriff's Department gives them a choice of an issued weapon or a dollar amount towards purchasing their own gun, and he opted for that route (most of his fellow deputies did). I never had opportunity to fire a P99, but from what I understand, the PPQ has a few upgrades that really don't effect/change the basic action and trigger. It's more cosmetic changes than anything.

The compact is phenomenal, very accurate in France no choice, shooting on target 27 yards, and he does the job very well, trigger is excellent, the length of the grip is almost the same of the G45, love that gun! Thank you Sir for your vidéos, best regards.

I have owned several Walthers in my life. A P-38 Police model from West Germany and my favorite, a P-5 Compact that I foolishly traded away as well as other p-38's. I Love a well engineered firearm and Walther never let me down. Wish I still had that p-5 though.

After buying my first PDP I learned a lesson. Never pay a ton of money for a pistol ever again. There are some amazing pistols by upstarts that I like better than my expensive pistols. PDP line, Caniks, SAR USA are not "good for the price" they're just really really good at any price. Love my two PDPs. Bought the first one on a whim about 3 years ago seems like. I like James Bond, love the PPK, I've always wanted a Q5 match and never got around to it so I saw the 4" in the store and bought it. I have way overspent on pistols in the past so I didn't expect much for $600 but honestly I shoot the PDP better than my H&Ks, CZs, Springfields maybe not because one is a 1911 (best shooting pistol ever just not tons of capacity), Glocks, all of them. I'm kind of getting into Caniks, have two I like a lot.

Love my PDP! Sure it’s thick and chunky. But you know you’re really holding something for sure. I have two of them. Both a full size with a 5 inch barrel. One for irons, one for my optic. Awesome shooting pistol! The only other gun I have that has a trigger that can equal my Walther’s is my Canik Elite Combat. And I’m just that guy that doesn’t mind carrying such a large gun in a holster right up front in the appendix position. I realize not everyone may be able to do that. But I love my PDP’s so much that I’m happy I can. BTW, C&G holsters has an awesome holster for it called a Covert with Alpha upgrades.

I have the 5 inch PDP, it's a great firearm. The Walther also can use magazines from the Canik TP9SFX. They both can use some of the same holsters. I feel the same about red dots on pistols, not so much on AR's with red dots. I will stay with iron sights too

I had a heck of a time when I first started using a red dot on my pistol, trying to quickly find the dot and acquire the target. I figured out that if I just aimed the gun using the iron sights, the red dot couldn't be missed.

I have a Walther PDP Full Sized with the 4 inch barrel. I bought it because it has a great feel. Its been a great pistol. But I did have one issue where the round nosed into the feeding ramp twice. To clear it, I dropped the clip and racked the slide. I sent it into Walther. Calling into Walther was a nice experience. But they never called me back to find out what they found. I had to call them after they sent the pistol back to me. I found that customer service experience a bit odd. They said it was a faulty magazine. So they replaced my magazine.

I have several different nice pistols, but my Walther PDP-F is one of the finest, most accurate pistols I own., although it's a bit of a chunk for CC. I got a great IWB holster from Philster for it, and it carries pretty well under a jacket.

glock is about on par with a hipoint compared to a PDP... they arent even in the same realm. a PDP is better in every observable metric. its lighter, better stippling, better serrations (glocks barely have them), WAY better ergos, better controls, better capacity, better optics system, better sights, astronomically better trigger, better magazines, full pic rail, modularity between models, and its cheaper.

Shame you did not have it with longer barrel, becasue just as the Compact version, the full size is also available in different barrel lengths. Compacts are available with 4" and 5"; full sizes are available with 4", exclusively with 4,5" and 5". The full sized grip with 4,5" barrel is a great combo.

If you think the trigger on the PDP is good then you need to try the trigger on the PDP Pro SD which has their Dynamic Performance Trigger (DPT). They sell the DPT which can be installed in the PDPs (except PDP F) for $179.00 - if you can get it. The Pro SD is my favorite pistol mainly because I shoot it better than any that I own and can shoot it fast and accurate which I attribute to the trigger and gun more than my shooting abilities.

I've had the Canik SFT Mete for about a year now. It's basically a clone of this pistol with the 4.5-inch barrel. Like Hickok said, it's got a great but light trigger. For that reason, I wouldn't carry it. Other than that, it's my favorite pistol to shoot.

I have had both - FN509 and PDP and I love both of them. I can run the PDP a lot faster due to that trigger. Though the 509 is no slouch though the trigger is not nearly as good.
