Love the podcast! A hobby hack for when you’re transferring paint from GW pots to bottles - instead of using a plastic funnel, take a small triangle of baking paper and fold it into a cone/ an icing funnel. That way, you don’t risk cross contamination, plus you can roll/ squeeze the funnel so you don’t waste any paint in the funnel.

DRILLS!!! I completely forgot to leave a comment the first time I heard you all debating about drills. My stance is somewhere in the middle of pin-vice Vs power tool, get the Tamiya Electric Handy Drill! It's a mini power tool that's more manageable in scale for hobby work, that takes hobby bits and doesn't have torque that would tear your mini to bits if you don't have trigger control on a full size drill. Plus bonus, it comes as a model kit itself on sprues with all the workings to install, so you get to put it together for a bit of hobby fun and it's a pretty useful tool 😊 I've really enjoyed using mine, but sometimes I also use those little precision PCB micro drill bits just twisting by finger for any really small drilling that needs to be done. Executioners if wanting the metallic route. Blueish grey armour, bronze pad/helm, can run yellow accents/helms for veterans. Option for the original scheme of dark blue and grey camo on tanks.

Just to fill in, all the bolters for Intercessors only have one profile now the Bolt Rifle, so it doesn't matter what magazine you glue on the gun they all do the same thing. Also for playing different space marine chapters, there are no detachment rules in the base space marine book that lock out or in using specific characters. So you can take Mephiston in any detachement from the Space Marine Codex or the Blood Angels codexs (when it comes out), just not anything in like the Dark Angels, Space Wolves, Black Templars and Deathwatch codexes/indexes.

Brilliant episode as it really explored the thought processes going into a new army. It shows that there's several valid ways depending on your desired outcome and use for the army/project. Little tip from me, put a little effort into things like backpacks. You're going to be looking at the back of your gaming army a lot and it gives you some satisfaction when the bit you can see looks really nice. Not to throw Joe further under the bus but maybe a New Army Hobby Hack as he goes would be useful? 😋👍

Favourite Second Founding, hmmm. Part of me wants to champion Flesh Tearers. It's a dark scheme, and it'd mean Joe was also doing Blood Angels 🤣 Actual vote, Nemesis, an Ultramarines successor. I love the dark green with red trim.

I love the podcast, and you guys make it great. It is almost a group of friends at the pub. I have been struggling to start assembling and painting my humongous pile of shame finally. Today, I started building the easy-to-build primaris redemptor dreadnought. The wet pallet live demo was great. Seeing live these basic steps makes such a big difference to new painters like me, giving me enough confidence to tackle the enormous mountain of painting your first models.

Pro tip i did for my kill teams, vis a vis artwork, I've printed my own stat cards with photos of my models as the artwork, and just from a convenience standpoint, it's really nice that the picture on the card matches the model. No confusion about whos who

Would definitely could do with an episode of competition prep and post competition thoughts, once the open model comp in Bristol is over. I have decided to starting painting for comps: I have decided on the theme, model, but struggle with knowing what's good enough (how smooth is smooth, for example). And what competitions are good to enter as a first timer etc.

Speaking of painting journals. How would recommend formatting the painting journal? I tried it just i ended up breaking each part of the unit down intonsections like left shoulder and right shoulder. Then went and listed out each paint and their order. It quickly became ridiculously long. Idea! Maybe a siege studio painting journal merch with an example formatting inside for reference

10th is so much easier for casual play/players which will probably help GW’s bottom line as the appeal spreads with whatever Cavill is doing. I played one game of 9th and I’ve heard it was more balanced competitively it was a huge learning curve that was a little too much - I’ve played three or so games of 10th and have enjoyed that a lot more as a casual gamer. Also that jam jar looks like the best of the three for paint water - the bowl is just weird. I prefer the very American solution of using fast food drink cups after they’re empty - plenty of liquid space and after they get too dirty they get tossed.

WYSIWYG needs to get thrown into the sun. I'm a comp player and it's one of the things that seems to trip up new players the most. I haven't had a single game in 10th were my opponent questions my loadouts on my army. Start of the game I list off what has what and we play the game no questions asked. The rules for the game change to often to get hung up on "what is most optimal" when you can simply find a good group of people and ignore all that nonsense and play your toys the way you want to play them. I think you've got a great atitude going into your army. Paint the stuff you think is awesome and if you don't like how they play on the table just play them as something else! That easy. Welcome to the game and have fun.

The edition change from 9th to 10th was the final nail in the coffin for me with playing 40k. I started as 9th was released. I'd already become frustrated with it after a couple of years, as I only got to play a game every few months, and there'd been so many changes in points and abilities each time, I was having to rebuild my army each time, and almost learn to play again. So the new edition coming out just turned me off entirely.
